Correlations of Feed-down Hadrons in a Thermal Model

We examine the potential impact of strong decays on the magnitude of fluctuations of net quantum numbers and integrals of balance functions based on a thermal hadron gas model. The calculations are based on a comprehensive list of known hadrons with masses up to 2.5 GeV/$c^2$ and include all decays of these hadrons with known branching fractions. The calculations are performed at vanishing baryo-chemical potential for temperatures between 140 and 200 MeV. We show that the decays feed-down substantially impact the single yield of measurable ``stable particles" as well as those of correlated densities of these species. Decays can then potentially have large and non-trivial impacts on measurements of net quantum number cumulants and balance functions. These observations are particularly important in the context of the search for the QCD critical point at the RHIC Beam Energy Scan as well as efforts to determine chemical susceptibilities near the phase transition at RHIC or LHC energies. Results obtained in this work also shed light on the importance of feed-down in measurements of balance functions in elementary p-p and nucleus-nucleus collisions.

Probing Partonic Evolution and Hadronization via Balance Functions and Correlations of Charmed Hadrons

Predictions of charm correlation functions and more specifically balance functions are presented in proton--proton (pp) collisions at sqrt(s_NN) = 13 TeV based on the PYTHIA 8.3 event generator. Correlations are computed for identical and cross-species charmed hadrons in both minimum bias and high-pT biased collisions. We study the strength of correlations as a function of the number of balanced flavors and investigate the impact of variations of PYTHIA parameters controlling the Lund string fragmentation on the shape and strength of the correlation functions. The feasibility of measurements of the charm balance function presented is discussed in the context of the future LHC experiments.

Measurements of ${Λ_{\rm c}^+\rm /D^0}$ ratio as a function of multiplicity at midrapidity at $ \sqrt{s_{\text{NN}}} = 5.02\; \text{TeV}$

In this contribution, the measurement of prompt ${Λ_{\rm c}^+\rm /D^0}$ ratio as a function of multiplicity in p--Pb collisions at mid-rapidity at $ \sqrt{s_{\text{NN}}} = 5.02 \;\text{TeV}$ is discussed. By performing this measurement as a function of multiplicity in pp and p--Pb collisions, we can evaluate the $p_{\rm T}$-differential baryon to meson enhancement and compare them to results in $ \rm e^-e^+$ and $ \rm e^-p$ collisions, where lower ${Λ_{\rm c}^+\rm /D^0}$ ratios at low and intermediate $p_{\rm T}$ have been observed, with the origin of this different behavior being still debated. In these measurements, we aim to compare the p--Pb results to pp collisions to investigate the possible effects of cold nuclear matter on charm-baryon production, and to Pb--Pb collisions for investigating the impact of quark--gluon plasma on charm quark hadronization.
