Chiral symmetry breaking in the truncated Coulomb Gauge II. Non-confining power law potentials

In this paper we study the breaking of chiral symmetry with non-confining power-like potentials. The region of allowed exponents is identified and, after the previous study of confining (positive exponent) potentials, we now specialize in shorter range non-confining potentials, with a negative exponent. These non-confining potentials are close to the Coulomb potential, and they are also relevant as corrections to the linear confinement, and as models for the quark potential at the deconfinement transition. The mass-gap equation is constructed and solved, and the quarks mass, the chiral angle and the quark energy are calculated analytically with a exponent expansion in the neighbourhood of the Coulomb potential. It is demonstrated that chiral symmetry breaking occurs, but only the chiral invariant false vacuum and a second non-trivial vacuum exist. Moreover chiral symmetry breaking is led by the UV part of the potential, with no IR enhancement of the quark mass. Thus the breaking of chiral symmetry driven by non-confining potentials differs from the one lead by confining potentials.

First study of the three-gluon static potential in Lattice QCD

We estimate the potential energy for a system of three static gluons in Lattice QCD. This is relevant for the different models of three-body glueballs have been proposed in the literature, either for gluons with a constituent mass, or for massless ones. A Wilson loop adequate to the static hybrid three-body system is developed. We study different spacial geometries, to compare the starfish model with the triangle model, for the three-gluon potential. We also study two different colour structures, symmetric and antisymmetric, and compare the respective static potentials. A first simulation is performed in a $24^3 \times 48$ periodic Lattice, with $β=6.2$ and $a \sim 0.072$ fm.

Chiral symmetry breaking beyond BCS and theorem on the width of scalars

We review chiral symmetry breaking at the BCS level, in the framework of chiral invariant quark models and in the Schwinger-Dyson formalism. We revisit the pi mass problem beyond the BCS level. We show a theorem on the masses, on the widths and on the q qbar content of the scalar mesons sigma and f0.

The Charmonium (Bottomonium) binding ate finite T

The charmonium (bottomonim) binding at finite temperature is studied with static potentials extracted from the lattice QCD data of Kaczmarek et al. The bottomonium spectrum is also studied. This is relevant for Hard Probes in Heavy Ion Collisions.

Microscopic 8-quark study of the antikaon nucleon nucleon systems

We study the possibility to bind eight quarks in a molecular hadronic system composed of two nucleons and an antikaon, with the quantum numbers of a hexaquark flavour, in particular with strangeness -1, isospin 1/2, parity -, baryonic number 2 and two possible spins, 0 or 1. These exotic hadrons are motivated by the deuteron, a proton-neutron boundstate, and by the model of the Lambda(1405) as an antikaon proton boundstate. We discuss the possible production of this hadron in the experiments which are presently investigating hot topics like the Theta+ pentaquark or the K- deeply bound in nuclei. The K- N interactions and the coupling to other channels are computed microscopically from a confining and chiral invariant quark model resulting in local plus separable Gaussian potentials. The N N interactions used here are the state of the art Nijmegen potentials. The binding energy and the decay rate of the K- N and K- N N systems are computed with configuration space variational methods. The only systems that bind with our microscopic interaction are the K- N in the I=0 channel and the K- N N in the S=0 channel.

Microscopic quark study of the eta and eta' masses

We show that it is necessary to go beyond the BCS (rainbow-ladder) approximation to split the $η$ and $η'$ masses from the $π$ and K masses. We determine the self-consistent set of one-quark-loop diagrams both for the Schwinger-Dyson quark mass gap equation and for the Bethe-Salpeter quark-antiquark boundstate equation. We identify the dominant diagrams, and we focus on the boundstate equation. We detail the Bethe-Salpeter equation, adding the dominant new diagram to the BCS kernel. The relevant numerical techniques are also discussed. The ideal cases of one, two and three light flavors, relevant to lattice QCD are also explored, together with the case of realistic current quark masses.

Dynamical chiral symmetry breaking with Minkowski space integral representations

The fermion propagator is studied in the whole Minkowski space with the help of the Schwinger-Dyson equations. Various integral representations are employed to get solutions for the dynamical breaking of chiral symmetry in different regimes of the coupling constant. In particular, in the case of massive boson, we extend the singularity structure of the fermion propagator to the two real pole Ansatz.

First study of the gluon-quark-antiquark static potential in SU(3) Lattice QCD

We study the long distance interaction for hybrid hadrons, with a static gluon, a quark and an antiquark with lattice QCD techniques. A Wilson loop adequate to the static hybrid three-body system is developed and, using a 24^3 x 48 periodic lattice with beta=6.2 and a ~ 0.075 fm, two different geometries for the gluon-quark segment and the gluon-antiquark segment are investigated. When these segments are perpendicular, the static potential is compatible with confinement realized with a pair of fundamental strings, one linking the gluon to the quark and another linking the same gluon to the antiquark. When the segments are parallel and superposed, the total string tension is larger and agrees with the Casimir Scaling measured by Bali. This can be interpreted with a type-II superconductor analogy for the confinement in QCD, with repulsion of the fundamental strings and with the string tension of the first topological excitation of the string (the adjoint string) larger than the double of the fundamental string tension.

The large degeneracy of excited hadrons and quark models

The pattern of a large approximate degeneracy of the excited hadron spectra (larger than the chiral restoration degeneracy) is present in the recent experimental report of Bugg. Here we try to model this degeneracy with state of the art quark models. We review how the Coulomb Gauge chiral invariant and confining Bethe-Salpeter equation simplifies in the case of very excited quark-antiquark mesons, including angular or radial excitations, to a Salpeter equation with an ultrarelativistic kinetic energy with the spin-independent part of the potential. The resulting meson spectrum is solved, and the excited chiral restoration is recovered, for all mesons with J > 0. Applying the ultrarelativistic simplification to a linear equal-time potential, linear Regge trajectories are obtained, for both angular and radial xcitations. The spectrum is also compared with the semi-classical Bohr-Sommerfeld quantization relation. However the excited angular and radial spectra do not coincide exactly. We then search, with the classical Bertrand theorem, for central potentials producing always classical closed orbits with the ultrarelativistic kinetic energy. We find that no such potential exists, and this implies that no exact larger degeneracy can be obtained in our equal-time framework, with a single principal quantum number comparable to the non-relativistic Coulomb or harmonic oscillator potentials. Nevertheless we find plausible that the large experimental approximate degeneracy will be modelled in the future by quark models beyond the present state of the art.

Collisions of a light bullet with kinks and standing breathers in the two-dimensional sine-Gordon equation

The (2+1)-dimension Klein-Gordon generalised equation is numerically solved through the finite differences method. Only the sine-Gordon case is focused: kink and antikink solutions are obtained in cartesian coordinates and evidence of interaction in kink-kink collision is looked for in propagation velocity. Then the change of shape in light bullet solutions is quantified during propagation and in head-on collision. Lastly, the robustness of light bullets is verified in head-on collisions with kink, antikink, standing kink and standing breather. A 30o-collision between a light bullet and a standing kink is simulated as well.

Mesons and tachyons with confinement and chiral restoration, and NA60

In this paper the spectrum of quark-antiquark systems, including light mesons and tachyons, is studied in the true vacuum and in the chiral invariant vacuum. The mass gap equation for the vacua and the Salpeter-RPA equation for the mesons are solved for a simple chiral invariant and confining quark model. At T=0 and in the true vacuum, the scalar and pseudoscalar, or the vector and axial vector are not degenerate, and in the chiral limit, the pseudoscalar groundstates are Goldstone bosons. At T=0 the chiral invariant vacuum is an unstable vacuum, decaying through an infinite number of scalar and pseudoscalar tachyons. Nevertheless the axialvector and vector remain mesons, with real masses. To illustrate the chiral restoration, an arbitrary path between the two vacua is also studied. Different families of light-light and heavy-light mesons, sensitive to chiral restoration, are also studied. At higher temperatures the potential must be suppressed, and the chiral symmetry can be restored without tachyons, but then all mesons have small real masses. Implications for heavy-ion collisions, in particular for the recent vector meson spectra measured by the NA60 collaboration, are discussed.

A quark model suggestion against Ds*(2317) and Ds*(2460) as chiral partners of standard Ds

This paper presents the first study of mesons with a quark and an antiquark with different and finite masses, in a simple confining and chiral invariant quark-antiquark interaction, leading to spontaneous chiral symmetry breaking and to constituent quarks. In the false chiral invariant vacuum, the chiral partners are degenerate, and tachyons occur in the light-light spectrum. In the true vacuum, most of the standard non-relativistic quark model spectra should be recovered except for the pion and other particular constraints. The calibration problem of chiral quark models is also addressed here. The detailed inspection of the different contributions to the D and Ds masses suggests that the challenging recently observed Ds*(2317) and Ds*(2460) mesons might not fit as global chirally rotated quark-antiquark Ds mesons.

Prediction of the masses and decay processes of strange, charmed and bottomed pentaquarks from the linear molecular crypto-heptaquark model

In this paper the masses and decay processes of several new strange, charmed and bottomed exotic pentaquarks are predicted. Multiquarks are studied microscopically in a standard quark model. In pure ground-state pentaquarks the short-range interaction is computed and it is shown to be repulsive. The long-range and medium-range interactions are not expected to provide sufficient attraction. An additional quark-antiquark pair is then considered, and this is suggested to produce a narrow linear molecular system. The quarks assemble in three hadronic clusters, and the central hadron provides stability. The possible crypto-heptaquark hadrons with exotic pentaquark flavours, with any number of strange, charmed and bottomed quarks, are listed. Several new exotics may still be observed.

Exotic pentaquarks, crypto-heptaquarks and linear three-hadronic molecules

In this talk, multiquarks are studied microscopically in a standard quark model. In pure ground-state pentaquarks the short-range interaction is computed and it is shown to be repulsive, a narrow pentaquark cannot be in the groundstate. As a possible excitation, an additional quark-antiquark pair is then considered, and this is suggested to produce linear molecular system, with a narrow decay width. This excitation may be energetically favourable to the p-wave excitation suggested by the other pentaquark models. Here, the quarks assemble in three hadronic clusters, and the central hadron provides stability. The possible crypto-heptaquark hadrons with exotic pentaquark flavours are studied.

The anti-decuplet candidate Xi--(1862) as a heptaquark with the overlap of two anti-kaons and a nucleon

I study the very recently discovered S=-2 resonance Xi--(1886) by the NA49 collaboration at the CERN SPS. This resonance was already predicted, with a mass close to 1.9 GeV, in a recent publication mostly dedicated to the S=1 resonance Theta+(1540). To confirm this recent prediction, I apply the same standard quark model with a quark-antiquark annihilation constrained by chiral symmetry. This method also explained with success the repulsive hard core of nucleon-nucleon, kaon-nucleon exotic scattering, and the short range attraction present in pion-nucleon and pion-pion non-exotic scattering. I find that repulsion excludes the Xi-- as a dd ss u/bar s-wave pentaquark. I explore the Xi-- as a heptaquark, equivalent to a N+K+K linear molecule, with positive parity and total isospin I=3/2. I find that the kaon-kaon repulsion is cancelled by the attraction existing in the kaon-nucleon channels. In our framework this state is easier to bind than the Theta+ described by a pi+K+N borromean bound-state. The remaining I=1/2 doublet and I=1 triplet of the exotic anti-decuplet are also studied, and the coupling to p-wave decay channels is briefly addressed.

Are the Theta+(1540), Xi--(1860) and D*-p(3100) Pentaquarks or Heptaquarks?

We study the Theta+(1540) discovered at SPring-8. We apply Quark Model techniques, that explain with success the repulsive hard core of nucleon-nucleon and kaon-nucleon exotic scattering, and the short range attraction present in pion-nucleon and pion-pion non-exotic scattering. We find a K-N repulsion which excludes the Theta+ as a K-N s-wave pentaquark. We explore the Theta+ as a crypto-heptaquark, equivalent to a K-pi-N borromean boundstate, with positive parity and total isospin I=0. The attraction is provided by the pion-nucleon and pion-kaon interactions. The other candidates to pentaquarks Xi--(1860), observed at NA49, and D*-p(3100), observed at H1, are also studied as linear molecular heptaquarks.
