On the investigations of galaxy redshift periodicity

In this article we present a historical review of study of the redshift periodicity of galaxies, starting from the first works performed in the seventies of the twentieth century until the present day. We discuss the observational data and methods used, showing in which cases the discretization of redshifts was observed. We conclude that galaxy redshift periodisation is an effect which can really exist. We also discussed the redshift discretization in two different structures: the Local Group of galaxies and the Hercules Supercluster. Contrary to the previous studies we consider all galaxies which can be regarded as a structure member disregarding the accuracy of velocity measurements. We applied the power spectrum analysis using the Hann function for weighting, together with the jackknife error estimator. In both the structures we found weak effects of redshift periodisation.

Large Scale Periodicity in Redshift Distribution

We review the previous studies of galaxies and quasar redshifts discretisation. We present also the investigations of the large scale periodicity, detected by pencil--beam observations, which revealed 128 (1/h) Mpc period, afterwards confirmed with supercluster studies. We present the theoretical possibility of obtaining such a periodicity using a toy-model. We solved the Kepler problem, i.e. the equation of motion of a particle with null energy moving in the uniform, expanding Universe, decribed by FLRW metrics. It is possible to obtain theoretically the separation between large scale structures similar to the observed one.

Application of the Voronoi Tessellation Technique for Galaxy Cluster Search in the Münster Red Sky Survey

We present the preliminary result of our project, consisting in studying the properties of a large sample of galaxy clusters. The Münster Red Sky Survey, which is a large galaxy catalogue covering an area of about 5000 square degrees on the southern hemisphere serves as our observational basis. It is complete up to $r_F=18^m.3$. Creation of a cluster catalogue is the first step of our investigation. We propose to use the 2D Voronoi tessellation technique for identifying galaxy clusters in this 2D catalogue. Points with high values of the inverse Voronoi tessel area will be regarded as galaxy cluster centroids. We show that this approach works correctly.

The universe evolution as a possible mechanism of formation of galaxies and their clusters

The Kepler problem is considered in a space with the Friedmann--Lemaitre--Robertson--Walker metrics of the expanding universe. The covariant differential of the Friedmann coordinates (X=a(t)x) is considered as a possible mechanism of the formation of galaxies and clusters of galaxies. The cosmic evolution leads to decreasing energy of particles, causing free particles to be captured in bound states. In this approach the evolution of the universe plays the role usually inscribed to Cold Dark Matter.
