Construction and Characterization of Symmetrical States for Multiqubit Systems

A general method in constructing a complete set of wave functions for multipartite identical qubits is presented based on the irreducible representations of the permutation group and the nth rank tensors. Particular examples for n =2, 3, and 4 are derived and the entanglement behavior for each state is examined from several criteria. It is found that the states so constructed are all bound entangled states. For the case of even n, all the states are found to have maximum "n-tangle". The symmetry in spin space is found to increase the n-tangle in general. The "n-tangle" for n = 4 is found not always representing 4-way entanglement. It measures the degree of spin-space symmetry instead. A useful relationship in the classification between systems containing different number of qubits is given in terms of the Young's Tableaux based on our analysis.

Manganese nanoclusters and nanowires on GaAs surfaces

We have computed the local magnetic moments of manganese and neighboring arsenic for various cluster configurations on the (001) surface of GaAs bulk crystal using a cluster of 512 atoms. We obtained for manganese a substantial local magnetic moment of 3.66 Bohr magnetons for all cases considered. The induced magnetic moment of arsenic is less than that of manganese by two orders of magnitude and falls off drastically beyond nearest neighbor distance. A small amount of charge is transferred from the manganese to arsenic. The possibility of a spin polarized wire channel on the arsenic layer below the surface is suggested.

Theory of ferromagnetism in (A,Mn)B semiconductors

A brief review of theory of ferromagnetism of dilute magnetic semiconductors of the form (A,Mn)B based on the double exchange model is first given. A systematic investigation of the phenomena extending the current theory is outlined. We begin with an investigation of the regions of instability of the nonmagnetic towards the ferromagnetic state of a system of Mn-atoms doped in AB-type semiconductor. A self-consistent many-body theory of the ferromagnetic state is then developed, going beyond the mean field approaches by including fluctuations of the Mn-spins and the itinerant hole-gas. A functional theory suitable for computation of system properties such as Curie temperature as a function of hole and the Mn-concentration, spin-current, etc. is formulated.
