Nonminimal supersymmetric standard model with lepton number violation

We carry out a detailed analysis of the nonminimal supersymmetric standard model with lepton number violation. The model contains a unique trilinear lepton number violating term in the superpotential which can give rise to neutrino masses at the tree level. We search for the gauged discrete symmetries realized by cyclic groups which preserve the structure of the associated trilinear superpotential of this model, and which satisfy the constraints of the anomaly cancellation. The implications of this trilinear lepton number violating term in the superpotential and the associated soft supersymmetry breaking term on the phenomenology of the light neutrino masses and mixing is studied in detail. We evaluate the tree and loop level contributions to the neutrino mass matrix in this model. We search for possible suppression mechanism which could explain large hierarchies and maximal mixing angles.

Probing SO(10) symmetry breaking patterns through sfermion mass relations

We consider supersymmetric SO(10) grand unification where the unified gauge group can break to the Standard Model gauge group through different chains. The breaking of SO(10) necessarily involves the reduction of the rank, and consequent generation of non-universal supersymmetry breaking scalar mass terms. We derive squark and slepton mass relations, taking into account these non-universal contributions to the sfermion masses, which can help distinguish between the different chains through which the SO(10) gauge group breaks to the Standard Model gauge group. We then study some implications of these non-universal supersymmetry breaking scalar masses for the low energy phenomenology.

Squark and slepton masses as probes of supersymmetric SO(10) unification

We carry out an analysis of the non-universal supersymmetry breaking scalar masses arising in SO(10) supersymmetric unification. By considering patterns of squark and slepton masses, we derive a set of sum rules for the sfermion masses which are independent of the manner in which SO(10) breaks to the Standard Model gauge group via its SU(5) subgroups. The phenomenology arising from such non-universality is unaffected by the symmetry breaking pattern, so long as the breaking occurs via any of the SU(5) subgroups of the SO(10) group.

Upper bounds on the mass of the lightest neutralino

We derive the general upper bounds on the mass of the lightest neutralino, as a function of the gluino mass, in different supersymmetry breaking models with minimal particle content and the standard model gauge group. This includes models with gravity mediated supersymmetry breaking (SUGRA), as well as models with anomaly mediated supersymmetry breaking (AMSB). We include the next-to-leading order corrections in our evaluation of these bounds. We then expand the mass matrix in powers of M_Z/mu, and find the upper bound on the mass of the lightest neutralino from this expansion. By scanning over all of the parameter space, we find that the bound we have obtained can be saturated. We compare the general upper bound on the lightest neutralino mass to the upper bound that is obtained when the radiative electroweak symmetry breaking scenario is assumed.

Constraints on Sparticle Spectrum in different Supersymmetry Breaking Models

We derive sum rules for the sparticle masses in different models of supersymmetry breaking. This includes the gravity mediated models (SUGRA models) as well as models in which supersymmetry breaking terms are induced by super-Weyl anomaly (AMSB models). These sum rules can help in distinguishing between these models. In particular we obtain an upper bound on the mass of the lightest neutralino as a function of the gluino mass in SUGRA and AMSB models.

Sparticle spectrum and constraints in anomaly mediated supersymmetry breaking models

We study in detail the particle spectrum in anomaly mediated supersymmetry breaking models in which supersymmetry breaking terms are induced by the super-Weyl anomaly. We investigate the minimal anomaly mediated supersymmetry breaking models, gaugino assisted supersymmetry breaking models, as well as models with additional residual nondecoupling D-term contributions due to an extra U(1) gauge symmetry at a high energy scale. We derive sum rules for the sparticle masses in these models which can help in differentiating between them. We also obtain the sparticle spectrum numerically, and compare and contrast the results so obtained for the different types of anomaly mediated supersymmetry breaking models.

Reply to Comment on Infrared Fixed Point Structure in the Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model with Baryon and Lepton Number Violation

Infrared fixed points in the minimal supersymmetric standard model with baryon and lepton number violation were studied and their structure elucidated by us in Physical Review D 63 076008 (2001). Here we reply to a comment on this paper. We emphasize that our paper concentrates on the case of the only true infrared fixed point in the model, i.e. the stable nontrivial fixed point for the top- and bottom-quark Yukawa couplings and the baryon number violating coupling. For this case the comment does not affect in any manner the numerical results and conclusions derived in our paper.

Nonminimal Supersymmetric Standard Model with Baryon and Lepton Number Violation

We carry out a comprehensive analysis of the nonminimal supersymmetric standard model (NMSSM) with baryon and lepton number violation. We catalogue the baryon and lepton number violating dimension four and five operators of the model. We then study the renormalization group evolution and infrared stable fixed points of the Yukawa couplings and the soft supersymmetry breaking trilinear couplings of this model with baryon and lepton number (and R-parity) violation involving the heaviest generations. We show analytically that in the Yukawa sector of the NMSSM there is only one infrared stable fixed point. This corresponds to a non-trivial fixed point for the top-, bottom-quark Yukawa couplings and the $B$ violating coupling $λ_{233}''$, and a trivial one for all other couplings. All other possible fixed points are either unphysical or unstable in the infrared region. We also carry out an analysis of the renormalization group equations for the soft supersymmetry breaking trilinear couplings, and determine the corresponding fixed points for these couplings. We then study the quasi-fixed point behaviour, both of the third generation Yukawa couplings and the baryon number violating coupling, and those of the soft supersymmetry breaking trilinear couplings. From the analysis of the fixed point behaviour, we obtain upper and lower bounds on the baryon number violating coupling $λ_{233}''$, as well as on the soft supersymmetry breaking trilinear couplings. Our analysis shows that the infrared fixed point behavior of NMSSM with baryon and lepton number violation is similar to that of MSSM.

Infrared Fixed Point Structure in Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model with Baryon and Lepton Number Violation

We study in detail the renomalization group evolution of Yukawa couplings and soft supersymmetry breaking trilinear couplings in the minimal supersymmetric standard model with baryon and lepton number violation. We obtain the exact solutions of these equations in a closed form, and then depict the infrared fixed point structure of the third generation Yukawa couplings and the highest generation baryon and lepton number violating couplings. Approximate analytical solutions for these Yukawa couplings and baryon and lepton number violating couplings, and the soft supersymmetry breaking couplings are obtained in terms of their initial values at the unification scale. We then numerically study the infrared fixed surfaces of the model, and illustrate the approach to the fixed points.

Renormalization Group Evolution and Infra-red Fixed Points in Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model with Baryon and Lepton Number Violation

We study the renormalization group evolution and infra-red stable fixed points of the Yukawa couplings and the soft supersymmetry breaking trilinear couplings of the minimal supersymmetric standard model with baryon and lepton number (and R-parity) violation involving the heaviest generations. We show analytically that in the Yukawa sector there is only one infra-red stable fixed point. This corresponds to non-trivial fixed point for the top-, bottom-quark Yukawa couplings and the $B$ violating coupling $λ_{233}''$, and a trivial one for the $τ$-Yukawa coupling. All other possible fixed points are either unphysical or unstable in the infra-red region. We then carry out an analysis of the renormalization group equations for the soft supersymmetry breaking trilinear couplings, and determine the corresponding fixed points for these couplings. We also study the quasi-fixed point behaviour, both algebraically and with numerical solutions of the evolution equations, of the third generation Yukawa couplings and the baryon number violating coupling, and those of the soft supersymmetry breaking trilinear couplings. From the analysis of the fixed point behaviour, we obtain upper and lower bounds on the baryon number violating coupling $λ_{233}''$, as well as on the supersymmetry breaking trilinear couplings.

Tests of the left-right electroweak model at linear collider

The left-right model is a gauge theory of electroweak interactions based on the gauge symmetry SU(2)_R . The main motivations for this model are that it gives an explanation for the parity violation of weak interactions, provides a mechanism (see-saw) for generating neutrino masses, and has B-L as a gauge symmetry. The quark-lepton symmetry in weak interactions is also maintained in this theory. The model has many predictions one can directly test at a TeV-scale linear collider. We will consider here two processes (e,e -> q, q, barQ, barQ and e,e ->mu, nu, q, barQ) testing the lepton flavour violation predicted by the model. We will also discuss constraints on supersymmetric versions of the model.

Multiple Higgs Production and Measurement of Higgs Trilinear Couplings in the MSSM

An elementary Higgs boson, which is the remnant of the spontaneous symmetry breaking mechanism in the Standard Model, remains one of the most elusive particles. If a Higgs boson candidate is found at future accelerators, it becomes necessary to determine its properties, beyond the mass, production cross section and decay rates. The other crucial properties relate to the self-couplings of the Higgs boson, which are necessary to reconstruct the Higgs potential, and thereby confirm the mechanism of spontaneous symmetry breaking. In this paper we review the question of the measurability of some of the trilinear couplings of the neutral Higgs bosons of the Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model at a high-energy e+e- collider.

The lightest neutral and doubly charged Higgs bosons of supersymmetric left-right models

We review the phenomenology of light Higgs scalars in supersymmetric left-right models. We consider models with minimal particle content (with and without non-renormalizable higher-dimensional terms) and with additional Higgs superfields. The upper bound on the lightest CP-even neutral Higgs boson in these models is larger than in the minimal supersymmetric standard model, and the Higgs couplings to fermions approach those of the Standard Model. Possibly light doubly charged Higgs boson may provide the best signature of these models.

Infra-red stable fixed points of Yukawa couplings in non-minimal supersymmetric standard model with R-parity violation

We study the renormalization group evolution and the infra-red stable fixed points of the Yukawa couplings of the non-minimal supersymmetric standard model (NMSSM) with R-parity violation. Retaining only the R-parity violating couplings of higher generations, we analytically study the solutions of the renormalization group equations of all the couplings of the model. We find that there are no simultaneous non-trivial infra-red fixed points for all the couplings of the model, and that the infra-red fixed point structure of the model is similar to the MSSM with R-parity violation. In particular, we show that only the baryon number violating coupling $λ^{''}_{233}$, together with top- and bottom-quark Yukawa couplings, approaches a non-trivial infra-red stable fixed point. However, this fixed point solution predicts a top-quark Yukawa coupling which is incompatible with the top quark mass for any value of $\tanβ$.

Phenomenology of light Higgs bosons in supersymmetric left-right models

We carry out a detailed analysis of the light Higgs bosons in supersymmetric left-right models (SLRM). This includes models with minimal particle content and those with additional Higgs superfields. We also consider models with non-renormalizable higher-dimensional terms. We obtain an upper bound on the mass of the lightest CP-even neutral Higgs boson in these models. The upper bound depends only on the gauge couplings, and the vacuum expectation values of those neutral Higgs fields which control the spontaneous breakdown of the $SU(2)_L \times U(1)_Y$ gauge symmetry. We calculate the one-loop radiative corrections to this upper bound, and evaluate it numerically in the minimal version of the supersymmetric left-right model. We consider the couplings of this lightest CP-even Higgs boson to the fermions, and show that in a phenomenologically viable model the branching ratios are similar to the corresponding branching ratios in the minimal supersymmetric standard model (MSSM). We then study the most promising particle for distinguishing the SLRM from other models, namely the doubly charged Higgs boson. We obtain the mass of this doubly charged Higgs boson in different types of supersymmetric left-right models, and discuss its phenomenology.

Infra-red stable fixed points of R-parity violating Yukawa couplings in supersymmetric models

We investigate the infra-red stable fixed points of the Yukawa couplings in the minimal version of the supersymmetric standard model with R-parity violation. Retaining only the R-parity violating couplings of higher generations, we analytically study the solutions of the renormalization group equations of these couplings together with the top- and b-quark Yukawa couplings. We show that only the B-violating coupling $λ^{''}_{233}$ approaches a non-trivial infra-red stable fixed point, whereas all other non-trivial fixed point solutions are either unphysical or unstable in the infra-red region. However, this fixed point solution predicts a top-quark Yukawa coupling which is incompatible with the top quark mass for any value of $\tanβ$.

Measuring Trilinear Higgs Couplings in the MSSM

Trilinear couplings of the neutral CP-even Higgs bosons in the Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model (MSSM) can be measured through the multiple production of the lightest CP-even Higgs boson (h) at high-energy e^+e^- colliders. This includes the production of the heavier CP-even Higgs boson (H) via e^+e^- \to ZH, in association with the CP-odd Higgs boson (A) in e^+e^- \to AH, or via e^+e^- \to ν_e \barν_e H, with H subsequently decaying through H \to hh. These processes can enable one to measure the trilinear Higgs couplings λ_{Hhh} and λ_{hhh}, which can be used to theoretically reconstruct the Higgs potential. We delineate the regions of the MSSM parameter space in which these trilinear Higgs couplings could be measured.

Measuring the Trilinear Couplings of MSSM Neutral Higgs Bosons at High-Energy e^+e^- Colliders

We present a detailed analysis of multiple production of the lightest CP-even Higgs boson (h) of the Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model (MSSM) at high-energy e^+ e^- colliders. We consider the production of the heavier CP-even Higgs boson (H) via Higgs-strahlung e^+e^- \to ZH, in association with the CP-odd Higgs boson (A) in e^+e^- \to AH, or via the fusion mechanism e^+e^- \to ν_e \barν_e H, with H subsequently decaying through H \to hh, thereby resulting in a pair of lighter Higgs bosons (h) in the final state. These processes can enable one to measure the trilinear Higgs couplings λ_{Hhh} and λ_{hhh}, which can be used to theoretically reconstruct the Higgs potential. We delineate the regions of the MSSM parameter space in which these trilinear Higgs couplings could be measured at a future e^+ e^- collider. In our calculations, we include in detail the radiative corrections to the Higgs sector of the MSSM, especially the mixing in the squark sector.
