Bounding f(R,T) gravity by particle creation

We consider the possibility of the quantum vacuum states in f(R,T) gravity. Particularly, we study the Bogoliubov transformations associated to different vacuum states for some f(R,T) models. The method consists of fixing the f(R,T) free parameters by requiring the Bogoliubov coefficients to be minimized. In such a way, the particle production is related to the value of the Hubble parameter and also the given f(R,T) model.

Classical and quantum Chaplygin gas Hořava-Lifshitz scalar-metric cosmology

In this work, we study the Friedmann-Robertson-Walker cosmology in which a Chaplygin gas is coupled to a non-linear scalar field in the framework of the Hořava-Lifshitz theory. In writing the action of the matter part, we use the Schutz's formalism so that the only degree of freedom of the Chaplygin gas plays the role of an evolutionary parameter. In a minisuperspace perspective, we construct the Lagrangian for this model and show that in comparison with the usual Einstein-Hilbert gravity, there are some correction terms coming from the Hořava theory. In such a set-up and by using of some approximations the classical dynamics of the model is investigated and some discussions about their possible singularities are presented. We then deal with the quantization of the model in the context of the Wheeler-DeWitt approach of quantum cosmology to find the cosmological wave function. We use the resulting wave functions to investigate the possibility of the avoidance of classical singularities due to quantum effects.

Generalized uncertainty principle and thermostatistics: a semiclassical approach

We present an exact treatment of the thermodynamics of physical systems in the framework of the generalized uncertainty principle (GUP). Our purpose is to study and compare the consequences of two GUPs that one implies a minimal length while the other predicts a minimal length and a maximal momentum. Using a semiclassical method, we exactly calculate the modified internal energies and heat capacities in the presence of generalized commutation relations. We show that the total shift in these quantities only depends on the deformed algebra not on the system under study. Finally, the modified internal energy for an specific physical system such as ideal gas is obtained in the framework of two different GUPs.

Dynamics of Entanglement and Nonclassical Correlation for Four-Qubit GHZ State

Many-qubit entanglement is crucial for quantum information processing although its exploitation is hindered by the detrimental effects of the environment surrounding the many-qubit system. It is thus of importance to study the dynamics of general multipartite nonclassical correlation, including but not restricted to entanglement, under noise. We did this study for four-qubit GHZ state under most common noises in an experiment and found that nonclassical correlation is more robust than entanglement except when it is imposed to dephasing channel. Quantum discord presents a sudden transition in its dynamics for Pauli-X and Pauli-Y noises as well as Bell-diagonal states interacting with dephasing reservoirs and it decays monotonically for Pauli-Z and isotropic noises.

On the (2+1)-dimensional Dirac equation in a constant magnetic field with a minimal length uncertainty

We exactly solve the (2+1)-dimensional Dirac equation in a constant magnetic field in the presence of a minimal length. Using a proper ansatz for the wave function, we transform the Dirac Hamiltonian into two 2-dimensional non-relativistic harmonic oscillator and obtain the solutions without directly solving the corresponding differential equations which are presented by Menculini et al. [Phys. Rev. D 87, 065017 (2013)]. We also show that Menculini et al. solution is a subset of the general solution which is related to the even quantum numbers.

Harmonic oscillator with minimal length, minimal momentum, and maximal momentum uncertainties in SUSYQM framework

We consider a Generalized Uncertainty Principle (GUP) framework which predicts a maximal uncertainty in momentum and minimal uncertainties both in position and momentum. We apply supersymmetric quantum mechanics method and the shape invariance condition to obtain the exact harmonic oscillator eigenvalues in this GUP context. We find the supersymmetric partner Hamiltonians and show that the harmonic oscillator belongs to a hierarchy of Hamiltonians with a shift in momentum representation and different masses and frequencies. We also study the effect of a uniform electric field on the harmonic oscillator energy spectrum in this setup.

Generalized Uncertainty Principle and the Ramsauer-Townsend Effect

The scattering cross section of electrons in noble gas atoms exhibits a minimum value at electron energies of approximately 1eV. This is the Ramsauer-Townsend effect. In this letter, we study the Ramsauer-Townsend effect in the framework of the Generalized Uncertainty Principle.

Accurate energy spectrum for double-well potential: periodic basis

We present a variational study of employing the trigonometric basis functions satisfying periodic boundary condition for the accurate calculation of eigenvalues and eigenfunctions of quartic double-well oscillators. Contrary to usual Dirichlet boundary condition, imposing periodic boundary condition on the basis functions results in the existence of an inflection point with vanishing curvature in the graph of the energy versus the domain of the variable. We show that this boundary condition results in a higher accuracy in comparison to Dirichlet boundary condition. This is due to the fact that the periodic basis functions are not necessarily forced to vanish at the boundaries and can properly fit themselves to the exact solutions.

Late time acceleration in a deformed phase space model of dilaton cosmology

The effects of noncommutativity on the phase space of a dilatonic cosmological model is investigated. The existence of such noncommutativity results in a deformed Poisson algebra between the minisuperspace variables and their momenta conjugate. For an exponential dilaton potential, the exact solutions in the commutative and noncommutative cases, are presented and compared. We use these solutions to address the late time acceleration issue of cosmic evolution.

Signature change from Schutz's canonical quantum cosmology and its classical analogue

We study the signature change in a perfect fluid Friedmann-Robertson-Walker quantum cosmological model. In this work the Schutz's variational formalism is applied to recover the notion of time. This gives rise to a Schrodinger-Wheeler-DeWitt equation with arbitrary ordering for the scale factor. We use the eigenfunctions in order to construct wave packets and evaluate the time-dependent expectation value of the scale factor which coincides with the ontological interpretation. We show that these solutions exhibit signature transitions from a finite Euclidean to a Lorentzian domain. Moreover, such models are equivalent to a classical system where, besides the perfect fluid, a repulsive fluid is present.

Mona Lisa, the stochastic view and fractality in color space

A painting consists of objects which are arranged in specific ways. The art of painting is drawing the objects, which can be considered as known trends, in an expressive manner. Detrended methods are suitable for characterizing the artistic works of the painter by eliminating trends. It means that we study the paintings, regardless of its apparent purpose, as a stochastic process. We apply multifractal detrended fluctuation analysis to characterize the statistical properties of Mona Lisa, as an instance, to exhibit the fractality of the painting. Our results show that Mona Lisa is long range correlated and almost behaves similar in various scales.

Quantum cosmology with varying speed of light: canonical approach

We investigate $(n+1)$--dimensional cosmology with varying speed of light. After solving corresponding Wheeler-DeWitt equation, we obtain exact solutions in both classical and quantum levels for ($c $--$Λ$)--dominated Universe. We then construct the ``canonical'' wave packets which exhibit a good classical and quantum correspondence. We show that arbitrary but appropriate initial conditions lead to the same classical description. We also study the situation from de-Broglie Bohm interpretation of quantum mechanics and show that the corresponding Bohmian trajectories are in good agreement with the classical counterparts.

Perfect fluid quantum Universe in the presence of negative cosmological constant

We present perfect fluid Friedmann-Robertson-Walker quantum cosmological models in the presence of negative cosmological constant. In this work the Schutz's variational formalism is applied for radiation, dust, cosmic string, and domain wall dominated Universes with positive, negative, and zero constant spatial curvature. In this approach the notion of time can be recovered. These give rise to Wheeler-DeWitt equations for the scale factor. We find their igenvalues and eigenfunctions by using Spectral Method. After that, we use the eigenfunctions in order to construct wave packets for each case and evaluate the time-dependent expectation value of the scale factors, which are found to oscillate between finite maximum and minimum values. Since the expectation values of the scale factors never tends to the singular point, we have an initial indication that these models may not have singularities at the quantum level.

Quantum FRW cosmological solutions in the presence of Chaplygin gas and perfect fluid

We present a Friedmann-Robertson-Walker quantum cosmological model in the presence of Chaplygin gas and perfect fluid for early and late time epoches. In this work, we consider perfect fluid as an effective potential and apply Schutz's variational formalism to the Chaplygin gas which recovers the notion of time. These give rise to Schrödinger-Wheeler-DeWitt equation for the scale factor. We use the eigenfunctions in order to construct wave packets and study the time dependent behavior of the expectation value of the scale factor using the many-worlds interpretation of quantum mechanics. We show that contrary to the classical case, the expectation value of the scale factor avoids singularity at quantum level. Moreover, this model predicts that the expansion of Universe is accelerating for the late times.

Quantum Stephani exact cosmological solutions and the selection of time variable

We study perfect fluid Stephani quantum cosmological model. In the present work the Schutz's variational formalism which recovers the notion of time is applied. This gives rise to Wheeler-DeWitt equation for the scale factor. We use the eigenfunctions in order to construct wave packets for each case. We study the time-dependent behavior of the expectation value of the scale factor, using many-worlds and deBroglie-Bohm interpretations of quantum mechanics.

Stephani-Schutz quantum cosmology

We study the Stephani quantum cosmological model in the presence of a cosmological constant in radiation dominated Universe. In the present work the Schutz's variational formalism which recovers the notion of time is applied. This gives rise to Wheeler-DeWitt equations which can be cast in the form of Schrödinger equations for the scale factor. We find their eigenvalues and eigenfunctions by using the Spectral Method. Then we use the eigenfunctions in order to construct wave packets and evaluate the time-dependent expectation value of the scale factor, which is found to oscillate between non-zero finite maximum and minimum values. Since the expectation value of the scale factor never tends to the singular point, we have an initial indication that this model may not have singularities at the quantum level.

Canonical wave packets in quantum cosmology

We discuss the construction of wave packets resulting from the solutions of a class of Wheeler-DeWitt equations in Robertson-Walker type cosmologies, for arbitrary curvature. We show that there always exists a ``canonical initial slope" for a given initial wave function, which optimizes some desirable properties of the resulting wave packet, most importantly good classical-quantum correspondence. This can be properly denoted as a canonical wave packet. We introduce a general method for finding these canonical initial slopes which is generalization of our earlier work.
