$\mathbb{Z}_2 \times \mathbb{Z}_2$ generalizations of infinite dimensional Lie superalgebra of conformal type with complete classification of central extensions

We introduce a class of novel $\mathbb{Z}_2 \times \mathbb{Z}_2$-graded color superalgebras of infinite dimension. It is done by realizing each member of the class in the universal enveloping algebra of a Lie superalgebra which is a module extension of the Virasoro algebra. Then the complete classification of central extensions of the $\mathbb{Z}_2 \times \mathbb{Z}_2$-graded color superalgebras is presented. It turns out that infinitely many members of the class have non-trivial extensions. We also demonstrate that the color superalgebras (with and without central extensions) have adjoint and superadjoint operations.

$ \mathbb{Z}_2 \times \mathbb{Z}_2 $ generalizations of ${\cal N} = 1$ superconformal Galilei algebras and their representations

We introduce two classes of novel color superalgebras of $ \mathbb{Z}_2 \times \mathbb{Z}_2 $ grading. This is done by realizing members of each in the universal enveloping algebra of the ${\cal N}=1$ supersymmetric extension of the conformal Galilei algebra. This allows us to upgrade any representation of the super conformal Galilei algebras to a representation of the $ \mathbb{Z}_2 \times \mathbb{Z}_2 $ graded algebra. As an example, boson-fermion Fock space representation of one class is given. We also provide a vector field realization of members of the other class by using a generalization of the Grassmann calculus to $ \mathbb{Z}_2 \times \mathbb{Z}_2 $ graded setting.

A variational approach for the Quantum Inverse Scattering Method

We introduce a variational approach for the Quantum Inverse Scattering Method to exactly solve a class of Hamiltonians via Bethe ansatz methods. We undertake this in a manner which does not rely on any prior knowledge of integrability through the existence of a set of conserved operators. The procedure is conducted in the framework of Hamiltonians describing the crossover between the low-temperature phenomena of superconductivity, in the Bardeen-Cooper-Schrieffer (BCS) theory, and Bose-Einstein condensation (BEC). The Hamiltonians considered describe systems with interacting Cooper pairs and a bosonic degree of freedom. We obtain general exact solvability requirements which include seven subcases which have previously appeared in the literature.

Bethe ansatz solution of an integrable, non-Abelian anyon chain with D(D_3) symmetry

The exact solution for the energy spectrum of a one-dimensional Hamiltonian with local two-site interactions and periodic boundary conditions is determined. The two-site Hamiltonians commute with the symmetry algebra given by the Drinfeld double D(D_3) of the dihedral group D_3. As such the model describes local interactions between non-Abelian anyons, with fusion rules given by the tensor product decompositions of the irreducible representations of D(D_3). The Bethe ansatz equations which characterise the exact solution are found through the use of functional relations satisfied by a set of mutually commuting transfer matrices.

Solutions of the Yang-Baxter equation: descendants of the six-vertex model from the Drinfeld doubles of dihedral group algebras

The representation theory of the Drinfeld doubles of dihedral groups is used to solve the Yang-Baxter equation. Use of the 2-dimensional representations recovers the six-vertex model solution. Solutions in arbitrary dimensions, which are viewed as descendants of the six-vertex model case, are then obtained using tensor product graph methods which were originally formulated for quantum algebras. Connections with the Fateev-Zamolodchikov model are discussed.

Integrable boundary conditions for a non-abelian anyon chain with $D(D_3)$ symmetry

A general formulation of the Boundary Quantum Inverse Scattering Method is given which is applicable in cases where $R$-matrix solutions of the Yang--Baxter equation do not have the property of crossing unitarity. Suitably modified forms of the reflection equations are presented which permit the construction of a family of commuting transfer matrices. As an example, we apply the formalism to determine the most general solutions of the reflection equations for a solution of the Yang-Baxter equation with underlying symmetry given by the Drinfeld double $D(D_3)$ of the dihedral group $D_3$. This $R$-matrix does not have the crossing unitarity property. In this manner we derive integrable boundary conditions for an open chain model of interacting non-abelian anyons.

Universal Baxterization for $\mathbb{Z}$-graded Hopf algebras

We present a method for Baxterizing solutions of the constant Yang-Baxter equation associated with $\mathbb{Z}$-graded Hopf algebras. To demonstrate the approach, we provide examples for the Taft algebras and the quantum group $U_q[sl(2)]$.

Premonoidal categories associated with representations of finite groups and their quantum doubles

We study the construction of premonoidal categories, where the pentagon relation fails, through representations of finite group algebras and their quantum doubles. Both finite group algebras and their quantum doubles have a finite number of irreducible representations. We show that in each case there are at least $2^{n-1}$ inequivalent premonoidal categories of representations, where $n$ is the number of irreducible representations. By construction, for the case of finite group algebras the categories are symmetric whereas for the quantum doubles the categories are braided.

Representations of the quantum doubles of finite group algebras and solutions of the Yang--Baxter equation

Quantum doubles of finite group algebras form a class of quasi-triangular Hopf algebras which algebraically solve the Yang--Baxter equation. Each representation of the quantum double then gives a matrix solution of the Yang--Baxter equation. Such solutions do not depend on a spectral parameter, and to date there has been little investigation into extending these solutions such that they do depend on a spectral parameter. Here we first explicitly construct the matrix elements of the generators for all irreducible representations of quantum doubles of the dihedral groups $D_n$. These results may be used to determine constant solutions of the Yang--Baxter equation. We then discuss Baxterisation ansätze to obtain solutions of the Yang--Baxter equation with spectral parameter and give several examples, including a new 21-vertex model. We also describe this approach in terms of minimal-dimensional representations of the quantum doubles of the alternating group $A_4$ and the symmetric group $S_4$.

Weak Hopf algebras corresponding to $U_q[sl_n]$

We investigate the weak Hopf algebras of Li based on $U_q[sl_n]$ and Sweedler's finite dimensional example. We give weak Hopf algebra isomorphisms between the weak generalisations of $U_q[sl_n]$ which are ``upgraded'' automorphisms of $U_q[sl_n]$ and hence give a classification of these structures as weak Hopf algebras. We also show how to decompose these examples into a direct sum which leads to unexpected isomorphisms between their algebraic structure.

An algebraic origin for quark confinement

Recently, a principle for state confinement has been proposed in a category theoretic framework and to accomodate this result the notion of a pre-monoidal category was developed. Here we describe an algebraic approach for the construction of such categories. We introduce a procedure called twining which breaks the quasi-bialgebra structure of the universal enveloping algebras of semi-simple Lie algebras and renders the category of finite-dimensional modules pre-monoidal. The category is also symmetric, meaning that each object of the category provides representations of the symmetric groups, which allows for a generalised boson-fermion statistic to be defined. Exclusion and confinement principles for systems of indistinguishable particles are formulated as an invariance with respect to the symmetric group actions. We apply the construction to several examples and in particular show that the symmetries which can be associated to colour, spin and flavour degrees of freedom of quarks do lead naturally to confinement of states.

Quark confinement without a confining force

We show that a non-associative structure applied to the algebra of Fermi operators with su(3) colour degrees of freedom leads to a consistent Fermi statistic for the tensor operators of the colour algebra. A consequence of this construction is that leads to quark confinement, without the need to resort to a confining force. Confinement arises as a symmetry constraint in much the same manner as the Pauli exclusion principle.
