Spin Liquid Phases in 2D Frustrated XY Model

In this paper we consider the $J_1-J_2-J_3$ classical and quantum 2D XY model. Spin wave calculations show that a spin liquid phase still exists in the quantum case as for Heisenberg models. We formulate a semiclassical approach of these models based on spin wave action and use a variational method to study the role played by vortices. Liquid and crystal phases of vortex could emerge in this description. These phases seem to be directly correlated with the spin liquid one and to its crystalline interpretation.

The 2D J_1-J_2 XY and XY-Ising Models

We consider the 2D $J_1-J_2$ classical XY model on a square lattice. In the frustrated phase corresponding to $J_2>J_1/2$, an Ising order parameter emerges by an ``order due to disorder'' effect. This leads to a discrete symmetry plus the O(2) global one. We formulate the problem in a Coulomb gas language and show by a renormalization group analysis that only two phases are still possible : a locked phase at low temperature and a disordered one at high temperature. The transition is characterized by the loss of Ising and XY order at the same point. This analysis suggests that the 2D $J_1-J_2$ XY model is in the same universality class than XY-Ising models.

Coupled Critical Models: Applications to Ising-Potts Models

We discuss the critical behaviour of 2D Ising and q-states Potts models coupled by their energy density. We found new tricritical points. The procedure employed is the renormalisation approach of the perturbations series around conformal field theories representing pure models as already used for disordered spins models. This analysis could be useful to understand the physics of coupled critical models like the fully frustrated XY model.

2D Fractional Supersymmetry for Rational Conformal Field Theory. Application for Third-Integer Spin States

A 2D- fractional supersymmetry theory is algebraically constructed. The Lagrangian is derived using an adapted superspace including, in addition to a scalar field, two fields with spins 1/3,2/3. This theory turns out to be a rational conformal field theory. The symmetry of this model goes beyond the super Virasoro algebra and connects these third-integer spin states. Besides the stress-momentum tensor, we obtain a supercurrent of spin 4/3. Cubic relations are involved in order to close the algebra; the basic algebra is no longer a Lie or a super-Lie algebra. The central charge of this model is found to be 5/3. Finally, we analyse the form that a local invariant action should take.
