Nonadditive statistical measure of complexity and values of the entropic index q

A two-parameter family of statistical measures of complexity are introduced based on the Tsallis-type nonadditive entropies. This provides a unified framework for the study of the recently proposed various measures of complexity as well as for the discussion of a whole new class of measures. As a special case, a generalization of the measure proposed by Landsberg and his co-workers based on the Tsallis entropy indexed by q is discussed in detail and its behavior is illustrated using the logistic map. The value of the entropic index, q, with which the maximum of the measure of complexity is located at the edge of chaos, is calculated.

Laying the ghost of the relativistic temperature transformation

Using the Unruh-DeWitt detector, it is shown that a universal and continuous Lorentz transformaion of temperature cannot exist for black-body radiation. Since any valid Lorentz transformation of temperature must be able to deal with black-body radiation, it is concluded that a universal and continuous temperature transformation does not exist.

New Types of Thermodynamics from $(1+1)$-Dimensional Black Holes

For normal thermodynamic systems superadditivity $§$, homogeneity $\H$ and concavity $\C$ of the entropy hold, whereas for $(3+1)$-dimensional black holes the latter two properties are violated. We show that $(1+1)$-dimensional black holes exhibit qualitatively new types of thermodynamic behaviour, discussed here for the first time, in which $\C$ always holds, $\H$ is always violated and $§$ may or may not be violated, depending of the magnitude of the black hole mass. Hence it is now seen that neither superadditivity nor concavity encapsulate the meaning of the second law in all situations.
