The Kramers escape rate of phase transitions for the 6-dimensional Gauss-Bonnet AdS black hole with triple phases

In this study, we obtain specific picture of the phase transitions for the 6-dimensional Gauss-Bonnet Anti-de Sitter (AdS) black hole with triple phases, using the generalized free energy we constructed and Kramers escape rate in stochastic motion. There are six possible phase transition processes between the three different stable states (small, medium, and large black hole states). During these phase transitions, there are two key temperatures. One is the temperature at which the medium black hole state emerges, and the other is the temperature at which the small black hole state annihilates. Meanwhile, two dynamic equilibrium processes are formed. One is a dynamic equilibrium of the transition from the medium black hole state to the large black hole state and the transition from the small black hole state to the medium black hole state. The other is a dynamic equilibrium of the transition from the small black hole state to the medium black hole state and the transition from the medium black hole state to the small black hole state.

Thermodynamic bounce effect in quantum BTZ black hole

A novel thermodynamic phenomenon has been observed in the quantum Ba\~{n}ados-Teitelboim-Zanelli (qBTZ) black hole, utilizing generalized free energy and Kramer escape rate. This phenomenon also reveals the unique property of the quantum black hole. The stochastic thermal motion of various thermodynamic states within the black hole system induces phase transitions, under the influence of generalized free energy which obtained by extending Maxwell's construction. Through the analysis of Kramer escape rate, it is discovered that the qBTZ black hole thermodynamic system exhibits a bounce effect. It originates from the non-monotonicity of entropy in black hole thermodynamic systems. Furthermore, the overall thermodynamic picture of the qBTZ black hole has been obtained under different quantum backreactions.

Unraveling Quantum Coherences Mediating Primary Charge Transfer Processes in Photosystem II Reaction Center

Photosystem II (PSII) reaction center is a unique protein-chromophore complex that is capable of efficiently separating electronic charges across the membrane after photoexcitation. In the PSII reaction center, the primary energy- and charge-transfer (CT) processes occur on comparable ultrafast timescales, which makes it extremely challenging to understand the fundamental mechanism responsible for the near-unity quantum efficiency of the transfer. Here, we elucidate the role of quantum coherences in the ultrafast energy and CT in the PSII reaction center by performing two-dimensional (2D) electronic spectroscopy at the cryogenic temperature of 20 K, which captures the distinct underlying quantum coherences. Specifically, we uncover the electronic and vibrational coherences along with their lifetimes during the primary ultrafast processes of energy and CT. We also examine the functional role of the observed quantum coherences. To gather further insight, we construct a structure-based excitonic model that provided evidence for coherent energy and CT at low temperature in the 2D electronic spectra. The principles, uncovered by this combination of experimental and theoretical analyses, could provide valuable guidelines for creating artificial photosystems with exploitation of system-bath coupling and control of coherences to optimize the photon conversion efficiency to specific functions.

Ground-state and thermal entanglements in a non-Hermitian XY system with real and imaginary magnetic fields

In this manuscript, we study the non-Hermitian spin-1/2 XY model in the presence of the alternating, imaginary and transverse magnetic fields. For the two-site spin system, we solve exactly the energy spectrum and phase diagram, also calculate the ground-state and thermal entanglements by using the concept of the concurrence. It is found that the two-site concurrence in the eigenstate which only depends on the imaginary magnetic field η is always equal to one in the region of PT symmetry, while it decreases with η in the PT-symmetric broken region. Especially, the concurrence shows the non-analytic behavior at the exceptional point, and the same is true in the case of the biorthogonal basis, which indicates that the concurrence can characterize the phase transition in this non-Hermitian system. The interesting thing is that η weakens the thermal entanglement when the system is isotropic and enhances the entanglement when the system becomes the Ising model. For the one-dimensional spin chain, the magnetization and entanglement are further studied by using the two-spin cluster mean-field approximation. The results show that their variations have opposite trends with the magnetic fields. Moreover, the system exists the first-order quantum phase transitions for some anisotropic parameters in the PT-symmetry region, and the entanglement changes suddenly at the quantum phase transition point.

Phase diagrams, quantum correlations and critical phenomena of antiferromagnetic Heisenberg model on diamond-type hierarchical lattices

The spin-1/2 antiferromagnetic Heisenberg systems are studied on three typical diamond-type hierarchical lattices (systems A, B and C) with fractal dimensions 1.63, 2 and 2.58, respectively, and the phase diagrams, critical phenomena and quantum correlations are calculated by a combination of the equivalent transformation and real-space renormalization group methods. We find that there exist a reentrant behavior for system A and a finite temperature transition in the isotropic Heisenberg limit for system C (not for system B). Unlike the ferromagnetic case, the Neel temperatures of antiferromagnetic systems A and B are inversely proportional to ln(Delta_c-Delta) (when Delta->Delta_c) and ln Delta (when Delta->0), respectively. And we also find that there is a turning point of quantum correlation in the isotropic Heisenberg limit Delta=0 where there is a peak of the contour and no matter how large the size of system is, quantum correlation will change to zero in the Ising limit for the three systems. The quantum correlation decreases with the increase of lattice size L and it is almost zero when L>=30 for system A, and for systems B and C, they still exist when L is larger than that of system A. Moreover, as an example, we discuss the error of result in system A, which is induced by the noncommutativity.

Hierarchy of equations to calculate the linear spectra of molecular aggregates - Time-dependent and frequency domain formulation

In a recent publication [J. Chem. Phys. 142, 034115 (2015)] we have derived a hierarchy of coupled differential equations in time domain to calculate the linear optical properties of molecular aggregates. Here we provide details about issues concerning the numerical implementation. In addition we present the corresponding hierarchy in frequency domain.

Study of Color Octet Matrix Elements Through $J/ψ$ Production in $e^{+}e^{-}$ Annihilation

In this paper, the color-octet long distance matrix elements are studied though the inclusive $J/ψ$ production in $e^{+}e^{-}$ annihilation within the non-relativistic QCD frame. The calculations are up-to next-to-leading order with the radiative corrections and relativistic corrections at the B-factory energy region and the near-threshold region of $4.6\sim5.6~{\rm GeV}$. A constraint of the long distance matrix elements ($\langle^1S_0^{8}\rangle$, $\langle^3P_0^{8}\rangle$) is obtained. Through our estimation, the P-wave color-octet matrix element ( $\langle0|^3P^8_0|0\rangle$ ) should be the order of $0.005m_c^2~{\rm GeV}^3$ or less. The constraint region is not compatible with the values of the long distance matrix elements fitted at hadron colliders.
