CVPO: Enhancing LLM Reinforcement Learning Reasoning via Value-Variance Adaptation and Dynamic Curriculum Learning

Reinforcement learning (RL) has emerged as an effective method for enhancing the reasoning capabilities of large language models (LLMs). However, existing methods suffer from insufficient precision in feedback on generated answer trajectories and exhibit the phenomenon of problem difficulty drift. To address these challenges, we propose CVPO - Curriculum-guided Value-Variance Policy Optimization. At the response trajectory level, we find that token-level value-variance correlates with exploration intensity. Our theoretical analysis shows this variance bounds policy update magnitude. We then use the estimated trajectory value-variance to quantify the intrinsic randomness in generation. Based on this, we design a variance-aware advantage adjustment mechanism for different reward types. At the question level, we introduce a dynamic curriculum weighting method that adapts to question difficulty. This helps the model focus on tasks matched to its current ability during each training stage. Experimental results show our method outperforms strong value-based baselines like VAPO. It achieves better performance and stronger exploration, enabling more accurate and robust reasoning in language models across various math tasks.

DART: Semantic Recoverability for Structured Tool Agents

When a structured tool agent fails mid-execution, the runtime faces a dilemma: replaying the entire task is safe but wasteful, while restoring from a local checkpoint is efficient but can leave committed downstream work tied to an upstream history that no longer exists. This tension is acute in commitment-sensitive settings, where rollback targets a single failed instance yet downstream consumers have already acted on its output. Existing recovery approaches provide mechanical rollback but no criterion for whether a local restore remains semantically valid after downstream commitment. We formalize this gap as semantic recoverability and address it in DART, a modular runtime that localizes the failed instance, certifies semantically recoverable boundaries of that instance, aligns checkpoints to those boundaries, and selects an admissible restore point that preserves committed downstream work under dependency and effect constraints-or blocks otherwise. Across three LLM-driven domains and external validation on a LangGraph-based substrate, DART correctly recovers all evaluated commitment-sensitive cases where baseline local recovery fails, and a five-domain safety audit finds no unsafe admitted rollbacks. These results show that controller legality does not imply semantic validity, and that sound local recovery requires an explicit admissibility check.

Persistent incommensurate amorphous/crystalline meta-interfaces enable engineering-grade superlubricity

Friction dissipates a substantial portion of global energy, motivating the pursuit of superlubricity, a state of near-zero friction, in real-world systems. Conventional approaches rely on crystalline lattice mismatch to suppress periodic energy barriers, but real interfaces invariably contain defects, edges and grain boundaries that restore high-friction states. Here we introduce a materials-agnostic strategy based on amorphous/crystalline heterointerfaces to achieve robust superlubricity under engineering-relevant conditions. Using diamond-like carbon (DLC) and crystalline MoS2 as a model system, we show through experiments and atomistic simulations that their interface remains incommensurate at all orientations and exhibits vanishing energy barriers during friction. In contrast, twisted MoS2 bilayers readily reorient into commensurate, high-friction states. We scale this effect by fabricating laser-patterned arrays of DLC/MoS2 meta-contacts reinforced with Ti3C2Tx MXene, forming hierarchical interfaces that sustain a friction coefficient of ~0.008 over 100000 cycles under combined extreme conditions: millimetre-scale contact size, 12.7 GPa contact pressure and RH 40% air. This unprecedented performance arises from four synergistic factors: intrinsic incommensurability at amorphous/crystalline interface, the rigidity of DLC support, MXene-based mechanical reinforcement and normalized load distribution by geometric patterning. These findings establish a general design paradigm that extends structural superlubricity from nanoscale model systems to practical technologies for sustainable engineering.

A biomimetic feedback loop for sustaining self-lubrication and wear resistance

Intelligent materials that self-sense and self-regulate are an emerging frontier in sustainable technology. Here we introduce Cu(Au)/C nanocomposite films that act as bioinspired self-adjusting lubricants. In these films, frictional heating triggers melting and migration of soft metal nanoparticles (NPs) such as Cu or Au along nano-pores to the friction interface, where the metal catalyzes the in-situ formation of ordered carbon nano-structures. Real-time monitoring of friction coefficient, electrical resistance(R), and metal release confirms an autonomous cycle: high friction coefficient generates heat, melting the metal NPs; the migrating metal then lowers friction coefficent by creating low-friction nanostructures, which reduces heat and arrests further migration until friction rises again. This self-limiting feedback enables stable ultra-low friction (~0.04) and an exceptional wear life (>40 km) even in high vacuum. By utilizing friction-derived heat as an intrinsic activation signal, our system establishes a general paradigm for intelligent, self-regulating materials with applications extending beyond tribology.

FEVO: Financial Knowledge Expansion and Reasoning Evolution for Large Language Models

Advancements in reasoning for large language models (LLMs) have lead to significant performance improvements for LLMs in various fields such as mathematics and programming. However, research applying these advances to the financial domain, where considerable domain-specific knowledge is necessary to complete tasks, remains limited. To address this gap, we introduce FEVO (Financial Evolution), a multi-stage enhancement framework developed to enhance LLM performance in the financial domain. FEVO systemically enhances LLM performance by using continued pre-training (CPT) to expand financial domain knowledge, supervised fine-tuning (SFT) to instill structured, elaborate reasoning patterns, and reinforcement learning (RL) to further integrate the expanded financial domain knowledge with the learned structured reasoning. To ensure effective and efficient training, we leverage frontier reasoning models and rule-based filtering to curate FEVO-Train, high-quality datasets specifically designed for the different post-training phases. Using our framework, we train the FEVO series of models - C32B, S32B, R32B - from Qwen2.5-32B and evaluate them on seven benchmarks to assess financial and general capabilities, with results showing that FEVO-R32B achieves state-of-the-art performance on five financial benchmarks against much larger models as well as specialist models. More significantly, FEVO-R32B demonstrates markedly better performance than FEVO-R32B-0 (trained from Qwen2.5-32B-Instruct using only RL), thus validating the effectiveness of financial domain knowledge expansion and structured, logical reasoning distillation

Quantum-preserved transport of excitations in Rydberg-dressed atom arrays

To transport high-quality quantum state between two distant qubits through one-dimensional spin chains, the perfect state transfer (PST) method serves as the first choice, due to its natively perfect transfer fidelity that is independent of the system dimension. However, the PST requires a precise modulation of the local pulse parameters as well as an accurate timing of dynamic evolution, and is thus very sensitive to variations in practice. Here, we propose a protocol for achieving quantum-preserved transport of excitations using an array of Rydberg-dressed atoms, enabled by optimal control of minimally global parameters. By treating the weak coupling of two marginal array atoms as a perturbation, an effective spin-exchange model with highly tunable interactions between the external weak and the inner strong driving atoms can be established, which allows for coherent excitation transfer even with large atomic position fluctuation. We furthermore show that the existence of long-time excitation propagation unattainable for systems under antiblockade facilitation conditions. Our results highlight an easily-implemented scheme for studying the dynamics of spin systems using Rydberg atoms and may guide the avenue to the engineering of complex many-body dynamics.

Sneak Path Interference-Aware Adaptive Detection and Decoding for Resistive Memory Arrays

Resistive random-access memory (ReRAM) is an emerging non-volatile memory technology for high-density and high-speed data storage. However, the sneak path interference (SPI) occurred in the ReRAM crossbar array seriously affects its data recovery performance. In this letter, we first propose a quantized channel model of ReRAM, based on which we design both the one-bit and multi-bit channel quantizers by maximizing the mutual information of the channel. A key channel parameter that affects the quantizer design is the sneak path occurrence probability (SPOP) of the memory cell. We first use the average SPOP calculated statistically to design the quantizer, which leads to the same channel detector for different memory arrays. We then adopt the SPOP estimated separately for each memory array for the quantizer design, which is generated by an effective channel estimator and through an iterative detection and decoding scheme for the ReRAM channel. This results in an array-level SPI-aware adaptive detection and decoding approach. Moreover, since there is a strong correlation of the SPI that affects memory cells in the same rows/columns than that affecting cells in different rows/columns, we further derive a column-level scheme which outperforms the array-level scheme. We also propose a channel decomposition method that enables effective ways for theoretically analyzing the ReRAM channel. Simulation results show that the proposed SPI-aware adaptive detection and decoding schemes can approach the ideal performance with three quantization bits, with only one decoding iteration.

RIS-assisted High-Speed Railway Integrated Sensing and Communication System

One technology that has the potential to improve wireless communications in years to come is integrated sensing and communication (ISAC). In this study, we take advantage of reconfigurable intelligent surface's (RIS) potential advantages to achieve ISAC while using the same frequency and resources. Specifically, by using the reflecting elements, the RIS dynamically modifies the radio waves' strength or phase in order to change the environment for radio transmission and increase the ISAC systems' transmission rate. We investigate a single cell downlink communication situation with RIS assistance. Combining the ISAC base station's (BS) beamforming with RIS's discrete phase shift optimization, while guaranteeing the sensing signal, The aim of optimizing the sum rate is specified. We take advantage of alternating maximization to find practical solutions with dividing the challenge into two minor issues. The first power allocation subproblem is non-convex that CVX solves by converting it to convex. A local search strategy is used to solve the second subproblem of phase shift optimization. According to the results of the simulation, using RIS with adjusted phase shifts can significantly enhance the ISAC system's performance.

RIS-assisted Scheduling for High-Speed Railway Secure Communications

With the rapid development of high-speed railway systems and railway wireless communication, the application of ultra-wideband millimeter wave band is an inevitable trend. However, the millimeter wave channel has large propagation loss and is easy to be blocked. Moreover, there are many problems such as eavesdropping between the base station (BS) and the train. As an emerging technology, reconfigurable intelligent surface (RIS) can achieve the effect of passive beamforming by controlling the propagation of the incident electromagnetic wave in the desired direction. We propose a RIS-assisted scheduling scheme for scheduling interrupted transmission and improving quality of service (QoS).In the propsed scheme, an RIS is deployed between the BS and multiple mobile relays (MRs). By jointly optimizing the beamforming vector and the discrete phase shift of the RIS, the constructive interference between direct link signals and indirect link signals can be achieved, and the channel capacity of eavesdroppers is guaranteed to be within a controllable range. Finally, the purpose of maximizing the number of successfully scheduled tasks and satisfying their QoS requirements can be practically realized. Extensive simulations demonstrate that the proposed scheme has superior performance regarding the number of completed tasks and the system secrecy capacity over four baseline schemes in literature.

Cross Cryptocurrency Relationship Mining for Bitcoin Price Prediction

Blockchain finance has become a part of the world financial system, most typically manifested in the attention to the price of Bitcoin. However, a great deal of work is still limited to using technical indicators to capture Bitcoin price fluctuation, with little consideration of historical relationships and interactions between related cryptocurrencies. In this work, we propose a generic Cross-Cryptocurrency Relationship Mining module, named C2RM, which can effectively capture the synchronous and asynchronous impact factors between Bitcoin and related Altcoins. Specifically, we utilize the Dynamic Time Warping algorithm to extract the lead-lag relationship, yielding Lead-lag Variance Kernel, which will be used for aggregating the information of Altcoins to form relational impact factors. Comprehensive experimental results demonstrate that our C2RM can help existing price prediction methods achieve significant performance improvement, suggesting the effectiveness of Cross-Cryptocurrency interactions on benefitting Bitcoin price prediction.

Phishing Fraud Detection on Ethereum using Graph Neural Network

Blockchain has widespread applications in the financial field but has also attracted increasing cybercrimes. Recently, phishing fraud has emerged as a major threat to blockchain security, calling for the development of effective regulatory strategies. Nowadays network science has been widely used in modeling Ethereum transaction data, further introducing the network representation learning technology to analyze the transaction patterns. In this paper, we consider phishing detection as a graph classification task and propose an end-to-end Phishing Detection Graph Neural Network framework (PDGNN). Specifically, we first construct a lightweight Ethereum transaction network and extract transaction subgraphs of collected phishing accounts. Then we propose an end-to-end detection model based on Chebyshev-GCN to precisely distinguish between normal and phishing accounts. Extensive experiments on five Ethereum datasets demonstrate that our PDGNN significantly outperforms general phishing detection methods and scales well in large transaction networks.

Schema Extraction on Semi-structured Data

With the continuous development of NoSQL databases, more and more developers choose to use semi-structured data for development and data management, which puts forward requirements for schema management of semi-structured data stored in NoSQL databases. Schema extraction plays an important role in understanding schemas, optimizing queries, and validating data consistency. Therefore, in this survey we investigate structural methods based on tree and graph and statistical methods based on distributed architecture and machine learning to extract schemas. The schemas obtained by the structural methods are more interpretable, and the statistical methods have better applicability and generalization ability. Moreover, we also investigate tools and systems for schemas extraction. Schema extraction tools are mainly used for spark or NoSQL databases, and are suitable for small datasets or simple application environments. The system mainly focuses on the extraction and management of schemas in large data sets and complex application scenarios. Furthermore, we also compare these techniques to facilitate data managers' choice.

Nanoscale characterization of the impact of beverages on the enamel surface of human teeth

Here we quantitatively evaluate the early stages of mechanical and morphological changes of polished human enamel surfaces induced by soft drinks using atomic force microscopy. With an increase of the immersion time in soft drinks, we found a significant increase of surface roughness (Ra) and a considerable decrease of elastic modulus (E) of the enamel. The prismatic structure of enamel was clearly observed after a one-hour immersion in Coca-Cola, which shows its strong erosion effect. A high surface roughness of enamel results in a high chance of cavities due to easier bacterial adhesion on rougher surface, while a drastic deterioration of the mechanical properties of the enamel weakens its protection property. Our findings show the variation of enamel surface at the very beginning stage of etching process by acidic drinks, which can also be applicable to the etching mechanism of enamel surface by other sources.
