On the Geometry of Inhomogeneous Quantum Groups

We first give a pedagogical introduction to the differential calculus on q-groups and analize the relation between differential calculus and q-Lie algebra. Equivalent definitions of bicovariant differential calculus are studied and their geometrical interpretation is explained. Vectorfields, contraction operator and Lie derivative are defined and their properties discussed. After a review of the geometry of the (multiparametric) linear q-group $GL_{q,r}(N)$ we construct the inhomogeneous q-group $IGL_{q,r}(N)$ as a projection from $GL_{q,r}(N+1)$, i.e. as a quotient of $GL_{q,r}(N+1)$ with respect to a suitable Hopf algebra ideal. The semidirect product structure of $IGL_{q,r}(N)$ given by the $GL_{q,r}(N)$ q-subgroup times translations is easily analized. A bicovariant calculus on $IGL_{q,r}(N)$ is explicitly obtained as a projection from the one on $GL_{q,r}(N+1)$. The universal enveloping algebra of $IGL_{q,r}(N)$ and its $R$-matrix formulation are constructed along the same lines. We proceed similarly in the orthogonal and symplectic case. We find the inhomogeneous multiparametric q-groups of the $B_n,C_n,D_n$ series via a projection from $B_{n+1}, C_{n+1},D_{n+1}$. We give an $R$-matrix formulation and discuss real forms. We study their universal enveloping algebras and differential calculi. In particular we obtain the bicovariant calculus on a dilatation-free minimal deformation of the Poincaré group $ISO_q(3,1)$. The projection procedure is also used to construct differential calculi on multiparametric q-orthogonal planes in any dimension $N$. Real forms are studied and in particular we obtain a q-Minkowski space and its q-deformed phase-space with hermitian operators $x^a$ and $p_a$.

Real forms of quantum orthogonal groups, q-Lorentz groups in any dimension

We review known real forms of the quantum orthogonal groups SO_q(N). New *-conjugations are then introduced and we contruct all real forms of quantum orthogonal groups. We thus give an RTT formulation of the *-conjugations on SO_q(N) that is complementary to the U_q(g) *-structure classification of Twietmeyer \cite{Twietmeyer}. In particular we easily find and describe the real forms SO_q(N-1,1) for any value of N. Quantum subspaces of the q-Minkowski space are analized.

Quantum Orthogonal Planes: ISO_{q,r}(N) and SO_{q,r}(N) -- Bicovariant Calculi and Differential Geometry on Quantum Minkowski Space

We construct differential calculi on multiparametric quantum orthogonal planes in any dimension N. These calculi are bicovariant under the action of the full inhomogeneous (multiparametric) quantum group ISO_{q,r}(N), and do contain dilatations. If we require bicovariance only under the quantum orthogonal group SO_{q,r}(N), the calculus on the q-plane can be expressed in terms of its coordinates x^a, differentials dx^a and partial derivatives \partial_a without the need of dilatations, thus generalizing known results to the multiparametric case. Using real forms that lead to the signature (n+1,m) with m = n-1, n, n+1 , we find ISO_{q,r}(n+1, m) and SO_{q,r}(n+1,m) bicovariant calculi on the multiparametric quantum spaces. The particular case of the quantum Minkowski space ISO_{q,r}(3,1)/SO_{q,r}(3,1) is treated in detail. The conjugated partial derivatives \partial_a* can be expressed as linear combinations of the \partial_a. This allows a deformation of the phase-space where no additional operators (besides x^a and p_a) are needed.

On the Geometry of the Quantum Poincare Group

We review the construction of the multiparametric inhomogeneous orthogonal quantum group ISO_qr(N) as a projection from SO_qr(N+2), and recall the conjugation that for N=4 leads to the quantum Poincare group. We study the properties of the universal enveloping algebra U_qr(iso(N)), and give an R-matrix formulation. A quantum Lie algebra and a bicovariant differential calculus on twisted ISO(N) are found.

Universal Enveloping Algebra and Differential Calculi on Orthogonal q-groups

We review the construction of the multiparametric quantum group $ISO_{q,r}(N)$ as a projection from $SO_{q,r}(N+2) $ and show that it is a bicovariant bimodule over $SO_{q,r}(N)$. The universal enveloping algebra $U_{q,r}(iso(N))$, characterized as the Hopf algebra of regular functionals on $ISO_{q,r}(N)$, is found as a Hopf subalgebra of $U_{q,r}(so(N+2))$ and is shown to be a bicovariant bimodule over $U_{q,r}(so(N))$. An R-matrix formulation of $U_{q,r}(iso(N))$ is given and we prove the pairing $U_{q,r}(iso(N))\leftrightarrow ISO_{q,r}(N)$. We analyze the subspaces of $U_{q,r}(iso(N))$ that define bicovariant differential calculi on $ISO_{q,r}(N)$.

Bicovariant Calculus on Twisted ISO(N), Quantum Poincare' Group and Quantum Minkowski Space

A bicovariant calculus on the twisted inhomogeneous multiparametric $q$-groups of the $B_n,C_n,D_n$ type, and on the corresponding quantum planes, is found by means of a projection from the bicovariant calculus on $B_{n+1}$, $C_{n+1}$, $D_{n+1}$. In particular we obtain the bicovariant calculus on a dilatation-free $q$-Poincaré group $ISO_q (3,1)$, and on the corresponding quantum Minkowski space. The classical limit of the $B_n,C_n,D_n$ bicovariant calculus is discussed in detail.

Vector Fields on Quantum Groups

We construct the space of vector fields on a generic quantum group. Its elements are products of elements of the quantum group itself with left invariant vector fields. We study the duality between vector fields and 1-forms and generalize the construction to tensor fields. A Lie derivative along any (also non left invariant) vector field is proposed and a puzzling ambiguity in its definition discussed. These results hold for a generic Hopf algebra.

R-Matrix Formulation of the Quantum Inhomogeneous Groups Iso_qr(N) and Isp_qr(N)

The quantum commutations $RTT=TTR$ and the orthogonal (symplectic) conditions for the inhomogeneous multiparametric $q$-groups of the $B_n,C_n,D_n$ type are found in terms of the $R$-matrix of $B_{n+1},C_{n+1},D_{n+1}$. A consistent Hopf structure on these inhomogeneous $q$-groups is constructed by means of a projection from $B_{n+1},C_{n+1},D_{n+1}$. Real forms are discussed: in particular we obtain the $q$-groups $ISO_{q,r}(n+1,n-1)$, including the quantum Poincaré group.

Bicovariant differential geometry of the quantum group GL_q(3)

We construct a bicovariant differential calculus on the quantum group $GL_q(3)$, and discuss its restriction to $[SU(3) \otimes U(1)]_q$. The $q$-algebra of Lie derivatives is found, as well as the Cartan-Maurer equations. All the quantities characterizing the non-commutative geometry of $GL_q(3)$ are given explicitly.
