Irradiation Tests for Commercial Off-the Shelf Components with Atmospheric-like Neutrons and Heavy-Ions

This paper presents the results of the irradiation, performed with atmospheric-like neutrons and heavy-ions, of Commercial Off-the Shelf Components (COTS), which can be used in space missions. In such cases, it is crucial to perform tests in a radiation environment that emulates the environment of different orbits around Earth. In our study we used atmosphericlike neutrons with fluences up to 1011 neutrons/cm-2 and Kr ions of fluences up to 107 ions/cm-2. These intensities are augmented with respect to the atmospheric one in order to shorten the irradiation time while simulating a long-time exposure during a possible mission in Low Earth Orbit (LEO). A similar radiation environment to LEO can also be present during High-Energy Physics experiments. Therefore, the study herby reported can also be helpful for accelerator physics. In this paper we show in detail procedures, setup and results we have obtained on a commercial device normally exploited in automotive environments.

Dark sector studies with the PADME experiment

The Positron Annihilation to Dark Matter Experiment (PADME) uses the positron beam of the DA$Φ$NE Beam-Test Facility, at the Laboratori Nazionali di Frascati (LNF) to search for a Dark Photon $A'$. The search technique studies the missing mass spectrum of single-photon final states in $e^+e^-\rightarrow A'γ$ annihilation in a positron-on-thin-target experiment. This approach facilitates searches for new particles such as long lived Axion-Like-Particles, protophobic X bosons and Dark Higgs. This talk illustrated the scientific program of the experiment and its first physics results. In particular, the measurement of the cross-section of the SM process $e^+e^-\rightarrow γγ$ at $\sqrt{s}$=21 MeV was shown.

First Simultaneous K$^-$p $\rightarrow (Σ^0/Λ) \, π^0$ Cross Sections Measurements at 98 MeV/c

We report the first simultaneous and independent measurements of the K$^{-}$p $\rightarrow Σ^0 \, π^{0}$ and K$^{-}$p $\rightarrow Λ\, π^{0}$ cross sections around 100 MeV/c kaon momentum. The kaon beam delivered by the DA$Φ$NE collider was exploited to detect K$^-$ absorptions on Hydrogen atoms, populating the gas mixture of the KLOE drift chamber. The precision of the measurements ($σ_{K^- p \rightarrow Σ^0 π^0} = 42.8 \pm 1.5 (stat.) ^{+2.4}_{-2.0}(syst.) \ \mathrm{mb}$ and $σ_{K^- p \rightarrow Λπ^0} = 31.0 \pm 0.5 (stat.) ^{+1.2}_{-1.2}(syst.) \ \mathrm{mb}\,$) is the highest yet obtained in the low kaon momentum regime.
