On non-degeneracy of Riemannian Schwarzschild-anti de Sitter metrics

We prove that the $TT$-gauge-fixed linearised Einstein operator is non-degenerate for Riemannian Kottler ("Schwarzschild-anti de Sitter") metrics with dimension- and topology-dependent ranges of mass parameter. We provide evidence that this remains true for all such metrics except the spherical ones with a critical mass.

Non-degeneracy of Riemannian Schwarzschild-anti de Sitter metrics: Birkhoff-type results in linearized gravity

We prove Birkhoff-type results showing that $L^2$ solutions of the linearized Einstein equations around Riemannian Kottler ("Schwarzschild-anti de Sitter") metrics in arbitrary dimension and horizon topology, which are not controlled by "master functions" are pure gauge. Together with earlier results this implies that the $TT$-gauge-fixed linearized Einstein operator for these metrics is non-degenerate for open ranges of the mass parameter.

The annoying null boundaries

We consider a class of globally hyperbolic space-times with "expanding singularities". Under suitable assumptions we show that no $C^0$-extensions across a compact boundary exist, while the boundary must be null wherever differentiable (which is almost everywhere) in the non-compact case.

Non-singular spacetimes with a negative cosmological constant: IV. Stationary black hole solutions with matter fields

We use an elliptic system of equations with complex coefficients for a set of complex-valued tensor fields as a tool to construct infinite-dimensional families of non-singular stationary black holes, real-valued Lorentzian solutions of the Einstein-Maxwell-dilaton-scalar fields-Yang-Mills-Higgs-Chern-Simons-$f(R)$ equations with a negative cosmological constant. The families include an infinite-dimensional family of solutions with the usual AdS conformal structure at conformal infinity.

Non-singular spacetimes with a negative cosmological constant: III. Stationary solutions with matter fields

Generalising the results in arXiv:1612.00281, we construct infinite-dimensional families of non-singular stationary space times, solutions of Yang-Mills-Higgs-Einstein-Maxwell-Chern-Simons-dilaton-scalar field equations with a negative cosmological constant. The families include an infinite-dimensional family of solutions with the usual AdS conformal structure at conformal infinity.

Timelike singularities and Hamiltonian cosmological billiards

We construct a large class of vacuum solutions of the Einstein equations without any symmetries and with controlled asymptotics near a timelike singularity. The solutions are obtained by a Fuchs analysis of the equations which evolve the metric in a spacelike direction. We further observe that the changes of signs of some of the terms (walls) in the associated Hamiltonian invalidate the "cosmological billards" heuristic arguments for existence of singularities of mixmaster type in the current context.

A New Class of Asymptotically Non-Chaotic Vacuum Singularities

The BKL conjecture, stated in the 60s and early 70s by Belinski, Khalatnikov and Lifshitz, proposes a detailed description of the generic asymptotic dynamics of spacetimes as they approach a spacelike singularity. It predicts complicated chaotic behaviour in the generic case, but simpler non-chaotic one in cases with symmetry assumptions or certain kinds of matter fields. Here we construct a new class of four-dimensional vacuum spacetimes containing spacelike singularities which show non-chaotic behaviour. In contrast with previous constructions, no symmetry assumptions are made. Rather, the metric is decomposed in Iwasawa variables and conditions on the asymptotic evolution of some of them are imposed. The constructed solutions contain five free functions of all space coordinates, two of which are constrained by inequalities. We investigate continuous and discrete isometries and compare the solutions to previous constructions. Finally, we give the asymptotic behaviour of the metric components and curvature.
