Classification of singular radial solutions to the $σ_k$ Yamabe equation on annular domains

The study of the $k$-th elementary symmetric function of the Weyl-Schouten curvature tensor of a Riemannian metric, the so called $σ_k$ curvature, has produced many fruitful results in conformal geometry in recent years. In these studies, the deforming conformal factor is considered to be a solution of a fully nonlinear elliptic PDE. Important advances have been made in recent years in the understanding of the analytic behavior of solutions of the PDE. However, the singular behavior of these solutions, which is important in describing many important questions in conformal geometry, is little understood. This note classifies all possible radial solutions, in particular, the \emph{singular} solutions of the $σ_k$ Yamabe equation, which describes conformal metrics whose $σ_k$ curvature equals a constant. Although the analysis involved is of elementary nature, these results should provide useful guidance in studying the behavior of singular solutions in the general situation.

A conformally invariant sphere theorem in four dimensions

In this paper we provide a sharp characterization of the smooth four-dimensional sphere. The assumptions of the theorem are conformally invariant, and can be reduced to an L^2 inequality of the Weyl tensor and positivity of the Yamabe invariant.

On the topology of conformally compact Einstein 4-manifolds

In this paper we study the topology of conformally compact Einstein 4-manifolds. When the conformal infinity has positive Yamabe invariant and the renormalized volume is also positive we show that the conformally compact Einstein 4-manifold will have at most finite fundamental group. Under the further assumption that the renormalized volume is relatively large, we conclude that the conformally compact Einstein 4-manifold is diffeomorphic to $B^4$ and its conformal infinity is diffeomorphic to $S^3$.

On finiteness of Kleinian groups in general dimension

In this paper we provide a criteria for geometric finiteness of Kleinian groups in general dimension. We formulate the concept of conformal finiteness for Kleinian groups in space of dimension higher than two, which generalizes the notion of analytic finiteness in dimension two. Then we extend the argument in the paper of Bishop and Jones to show that conformal finiteness implies geometric finiteness unless the set of limit points is of Hausdorff dimension n. Furthermore we show that, for a given Kleinian group $Γ$, conformal finiteness is equivalent to the existence of a metric of finite geometry on the Kleinian manifold $Ω(Γ)/Γ$.
