Global hypoellipticity for perturbations of complex vector fields on the torus

We apply Krönecker's approximation theorem to measure (in a topological sense) a set of constants which turn a vector field into a non-globally hypoelliptic operator. We present situations in which this set is a discrete enumerable (hence, meager) subset of the real line, and we also show that this set may be a dense $\mathcal{G}_δ$ subset of the complex numbers (hence, nonmeager), which produces a contrast to a known result stating that this set has null Lebesgue measure.

Directional Poincaré inequality on compact Lie groups

We extend the directional Poincaré inequality on the torus, introduced by Steinerberger in [Ark. Mat. 54 (2016), pp. 555--569], to the setting of compact Lie groups. We provide necessary and sufficient conditions for the existence of such an inequality based on estimates on the eigenvalues of the global symbol of the corresponding vector field. We also prove that such refinement of the Poincaré inequality holds for a left-invariant vector field on a compact Lie group $G$ if and only if the vector field is globally solvable, and extend this equivalence to tube-type vector fields on $\mathbb{T}^1\times G$.

Diagonal systems of differential operators on compact Lie groups

We investigate the global hypoellipticity and global solvability of systems of left-invariant differential operators on compact Lie groups. Focusing on diagonal systems, we establish necessary and sufficient conditions for these global properties. Specifically, we show that global solvability is characterized by a Diophantine condition on the symbol of the system, while global hypoellipticity further requires that a set depending on the symbol to be finite. As an application, we provide a complete characterization of these properties for systems of vector fields defined on products of tori and spheres. Additionally, we present illustrative examples, including systems involving higher-order differential operators. Finally, we extend our analysis to triangular systems on compact Lie groups, introducing an additional condition related to the boundedness of the dimensions of the representations in these Lie groups.
