Deformation quantization and perverse sheaves

Kashiwara, Polesello, Schapira and D'Agnolo defined canonical deformation quantizations of a holomorphic symplectic manifold and a holomorphic Lagrangian submanifold equipped with an orientation data. The goal of this paper is to use deformation quantization modules to construct a Fukaya-like category of holomorphic Lagrangians, resolving a conjecture of Joyce. Our main result describes the RHom complex between two such deformation quantization modules associated to a pair of Lagrangian submanifolds in terms of the derived geometry of the Lagrangian intersection. Namely, we identify the RHom complex with the DT sheaf associated to the d-critical structure on the Lagrangian intersection. Via a Riemann-Hilbert correspondence this describes the RHom complex in the category of microsheaves of sheaf quantizations of conic holomorphic Lagrangians.

Shifted cotangent bundles, symplectic groupoids and deformation to the normal cone

This article generalizes the theory of shifted symplectic structures to the relative context and non-geometric stacks. We describe basic constructions that naturally appear in this theory: shifted cotangent bundles and the AKSZ procedure. Along the way, we also develop the theory of shifted symplectic groupoids presenting shifted symplectic structures on quotients and define a deformation to the normal cone for shifted Lagrangian morphisms.

Cohomological Hall algebras for 3-Calabi-Yau categories

The aim of this paper is to construct the cohomological Hall algebras for $3$-Calabi--Yau categories admitting a strong orientation data. This can be regarded as a mathematical definition of the algebra of BPS states, whose existence was first mathematically conjectured by Kontsevich and Soibelman. Along the way, we prove Joyce's conjecture on the functorial behaviour of the Donaldson--Thomas perverse sheaves for the attractor Lagrangian correspondence of $(-1)$-shifted symplectic stacks. This result allows us to construct a parabolic induction map for cohomological Donaldson--Thomas invariants of $G$-local systems on $3$-manifolds for a reductive group $G$, which can be regarded as a $3$-manifold analogue of the Eisenstein series functor in the geometric Langlands program.

Period sheaves via perverse pullbacks

We construct period sheaves for Hamiltonian spaces, as conjectured in the work of Ben-Zvi, Sakellaridis and Venkatesh, using the perverse pullback functors introduced in the authors' previous work. We prove a dimensional reduction isomorphism (generalizing the results of Davison and Kinjo in cohomological Donaldson--Thomas theory) which implies that perverse pullbacks refine the ordinary pullback functors in constructible sheaf theory, and relate perverse pullbacks to microstalk functors. These results imply that our period sheaves recover the known constructions in the cotangent and Whittaker cases.

Perverse pullbacks

We define a new perverse t-exact pullback operation on derived categories of constructible sheaves which generalizes most perverse t-exact functors in sheaf theory, such as microlocalization, the Fourier-Sato transform and vanishing cycles. This operation is defined for morphisms of algebraic stacks equipped with a relative exact (-1)-shifted symplectic structure, and can be used to define cohomological Donaldson-Thomas invariants in a relative setting. We prove natural functoriality properties for perverse pullbacks, such as smooth and finite base change, compatibility with products and Verdier duality.

Simple homotopy invariance of the loop coproduct

We prove a transformation formula for the Goresky-Hingston loop coproduct in string topology under homotopy equivalences of manifolds. The formula involves the trace of the Whitehead torsion of the homotopy equivalence. In particular, it implies that the loop coproduct is invariant under simple homotopy equivalences. In a sense, our results determine the Dennis trace of the simple homotopy type of a closed manifold from its framed configuration spaces of $\leq 2$ points. We also explain how the loop coproduct arises as a secondary operation in a 2-dimensional TQFT which elucidates a topological origin of the transformation formula.

Torsion volume forms

We introduce volume forms on mapping stacks in derived algebraic geometry using a parametrized version of the Reidemeister-Turaev torsion. In the case of derived loop stacks we describe this volume form in terms of the Todd class. In the case of mapping stacks from surfaces, we compare it to the symplectic volume form. As an application of these ideas, we construct canonical orientation data for cohomological DT invariants of closed oriented 3-manifolds.

The finiteness conjecture for skein modules

We give a new, algebraically computable formula for skein modules of closed 3-manifolds via Heegaard splittings. As an application, we prove that skein modules of closed 3-manifolds are finite-dimensional, resolving in the affirmative a conjecture of Witten.

Classical BV formalism for group actions

We study the derived critical locus of a function $f:[X/G]\to \mathbb{A}_{\mathbb{K}}^1$ on the quotient stack of a smooth affine scheme $X$ by the action of a smooth affine group scheme $G$. It is shown that $\mathrm{dCrit}(f) \simeq [Z/G]$ is a derived quotient stack for a derived affine scheme $Z$, whose dg-algebra of functions is described explicitly. Our results generalize the classical BV formalism in finite dimensions from Lie algebra to group actions.

Batalin--Vilkovisky quantization and supersymmetric twists

We show that a family of topological twists of a supersymmetric mechanics with a Kähler target exhibits a Batalin--Vilkovisky quantization. Using this observation we make a general proposal for the Hilbert space of states after a topological twist in terms of the cohomology of a certain perverse sheaf. We give several examples of the resulting Hilbert spaces including the categorified Donaldson--Thomas invariants, Haydys--Witten theory and the 3-dimensional A-model.

Poisson reduction as a coisotropic intersection

We give a definition of coisotropic morphisms of shifted Poisson (i.e. $P_n$) algebras which is a derived version of the classical notion of coisotropic submanifolds. Using this we prove that an intersection of coisotropic morphisms of shifted Poisson algebras carries a Poisson structure of shift one less. Using an interpretation of Hamiltonian spaces as coisotropic morphisms we show that the classical BRST complex computing derived Poisson reduction coincides with the complex computing coisotropic intersection. Moreover, this picture admits a quantum version using brace algebras and their modules: the quantum BRST complex is quasi-isomorphic to the complex computing tensor product of brace modules.

A categorical approach to quantum moment maps

We introduce quantum versions of Manin pairs and Manin triples and define quantum moment maps in this context. This provides a framework that incorporates quantum moment maps for actions of Lie algebras and quantum groups for any quantum parameter. We also show how our quantum moment maps degenerate to known classical versions of moment maps and describe their fusion.

Shifted geometric quantization

We introduce geometric quantization in the setting of shifted symplectic structures. We define Lagrangian fibrations and prequantizations of shifted symplectic stacks and their geometric quantization. In addition, we study many examples including symplectic groupoids, Hamiltonian spaces and moduli spaces of flat connections. In the case of Hamiltonian spaces we prove a derived analog of the "quantization commutes with reduction" principle.

Shifted Coisotropic Correspondences

We define (iterated) coisotropic correspondences between derived Poisson stacks, and construct symmetric monoidal higher categories of derived Poisson stacks where the $i$-morphisms are given by $i$-fold coisotropic correspondences. Assuming an expected equivalence of different models of higher Morita categories, we prove that all derived Poisson stacks are fully dualizable, and so determine framed extended TQFTs by the Cobordism Hypothesis. Along the way we also prove that the higher Morita category of $E_{n}$-algebras with respect to coproducts is equivalent to the higher category of iterated cospans.

The categorified Grothendieck-Riemann-Roch theorem

In this paper we prove a categorification of the Grothendieck-Riemann-Roch theorem. Our result implies in particular a Grothendieck-Riemann-Roch theorem for Toën and Vezzosi's secondary Chern character. As a main application, we establish a comparison between the Toën-Vezzosi Chern character and the classical Chern character, and show that the categorified Chern character recovers the classical de Rham realization.

A categorical approach to dynamical quantum groups

We present a categorical point of view on dynamical quantum groups in terms of categories of Harish-Chandra bimodules. We prove Tannaka duality theorems for forgetful functors into the monoidal category of Harish-Chandra bimodules in terms of a slight modification of the notion of a bialgebroid. Moreover, we show that the standard dynamical quantum groups $F(G)$ and $F_q(G)$ are related to parabolic restriction functors for classical and quantum Harish-Chandra bimodules. Finally, we exhibit a natural Weyl symmetry of the parabolic restriction functor using Zhelobenko operators and show that it gives rise to the action of the dynamical Weyl group.

The quantum Frobenius for character varieties and multiplicative quiver varieties

We prove that quantized multiplicative quiver varieties and quantum character varieties define sheaves of Azumaya algebras over the corresponding classical moduli spaces, and we prove that the Azumaya locus of the Kauffman bracket skein algebras contains the smooth locus, proving a strong form of the Unicity Conjecture of Bonahon and Wong. The proofs exploit a strong compatibility between quantum Hamiltonian reduction and the quantum Frobenius homomorphism as it arises in each setting. We therefore introduce the concepts of Frobenius quantum moment maps and their Hamiltonian reduction, and of Frobenius Poisson orders. We use these tools to construct canonical central subalgebras of quantum algebras, and explicitly compute the resulting Azumaya loci we encounter, using a natural nondegeneracy assumption.

Invertible braided tensor categories

We prove that a finite braided tensor category A is invertible in the Morita 4-category BrTens of braided tensor categories if, and only if, it is non-degenerate. This includes the case of semisimple modular tensor categories, but also non-semisimple examples such as categories of representations of the small quantum group at good roots of unity. Via the cobordism hypothesis, we obtain new invertible 4-dimensional framed topological field theories, which we regard as a non-semisimple framed version of the Crane-Yetter-Kauffman invariants, after Freed--Teleman and Walker's construction in the semisimple case. More generally, we characterize invertibility for E_1- and E_2-algebras in an arbitrary symmetric monoidal oo-category, and we conjecture a similar characterization of invertible E_n-algebras for any n. Finally, we propose the Picard group of BrTens as a generalization of the Witt group of non-degenerate braided fusion categories, and pose a number of open questions about it.
