Homogenized moderately wrinkled shell theory from 3D Koiter's linear elasticity

In this paper we derive, by two$-$scale convergence, periodically wrinked shell models starting from three dimensional linear elasticity, depending of the behaviour of the small parameter $\varepsilon>0$ and $p>1$, differents theories appear. We assume that the mid-surface of the shell is given by $\displaystyle ψ(x_1,x_2)+\varepsilon^pθ\left(\frac{x_1}{\varepsilon},\frac{x_2}{\varepsilon}\right)\vect{a}_{3}(x_1,x_2)$, where $θ$ is $[0,1)^2$-periodic function and $p=2$. We also assume that the strain energy of the shell has the Koiter's model.

Kirchhoff-type equations involving the Fractional $(p,q)-$Laplacian

In this paper, we study the existence and nonexistence of solutions for the following Kirchhoff-type fractional $(p\text{-}q)$-Laplacian problem: \begin{equation*} \begin{cases} M\left([u]^p_{p,s_1}\right)(-Δ)^{s_1}_p u + M\left([u]^q_{q,s_2}\right)(-Δ)^{s_2}_q u = λ\big[a(x)|u|^{p-2}u + b(x)|u|^{q-2}u\big] + h(x), & \text{in } Ω, \\ u = 0, & \text{on } \mathbb{R}^N \setminus Ω, \end{cases} \end{equation*} where $Ω\subset \mathbb{R}^N$ ($N \geq 1$) is a bounded domain with smooth boundary, $0 < s_1 < s_2 < 1$, and $s_1 p < N$. We assume $1 < q \leq p < θp < p^{*}_{s_1} := \dfrac{Np}{N - s_1 p}$, and $λ\in \mathbb{R}$. The functions $a(x), b(x)$, and $h(x)$ are non-negative, with $a, b \in L^\infty(Ω)$ and $h \in L^q(Ω)$. Using variational methods, we establish the existence of at least two weak solutions. The first solution is obtained via the direct minimization of the associated energy functional, and the second is obtained by applying the Mountain Pass Theorem. We also prove a nonexistence result for small values of the parameter $λ> 0$.

A homogenization bending shell theory for multiscale materials from $3D$ nonlinear elasticity

We derive homogenized bending shell theories starting from three dimensional nonlinear elasticity. The original three dimensional model contains three small parameters: the two homogenization scales $\varepsilon$ and $\varepsilon^2$ of the material properties and the thickness $h$ of the shell. Depending on the asymptotic ratio of these three parameters, we obtain different asymptotic theories.

Junction of ferroelectric thin cylinders

In this paper, starting from a non-convex and nonlocal $3D-$variational model for the electric polarization in a ferroelectric material, and using an asymptotic process based on dimensional reduction, we analyze junction phenomena for two vertical joined ferroelectric thin cilynders with differents small thicknesses. We obtain three variational models for thin wire joined to a thin film, depending on the limit of the ratio between these two thicknesses.
