Sheaves on affine Schubert varieties, modular representations and Lusztig's conjecture

We relate a certain category of sheaves of k-vector spaces on a complex affine Schubert variety to modules over the k-Lie algebra (for ch k>0) or to modules over the small quantum group (for ch k=0) associated to the Langlands dual root datum. As an application we give a new proof of Lusztig's conjecture on quantum characters and on modular characters for almost all characteristics. Moreover, we relate the geometric and representation theoretic sides to sheaves on the underlying moment graph, which allows us to extend the known instances of Lusztig's modular conjecture in two directions: We give an upper bound on the exceptional characteristics and verify its multiplicity one case for all relevant primes.

An upper bound on the exceptional characteristics for Lusztig's character formula

We develop and study a Lefschetz theory in a combinatorial category associated to a root system and derive an upper bound on the exceptional characteristics for Lusztig's formula for the simple rational characters of a reductive algebraic group. Our bound is huge compared to the Coxeter number. It is, however, given by an explicit formula.

Lusztig's conjecture as a moment graph problem

We show that Lusztig's conjecture on the irreducible characters of a reductive algebraic group over a field of positive characteristic is equivalent to the generic multiplicity conjecture, which gives a formula for the Jordan-H"older multiplicities of baby Verma modules over the corresponding Lie algebra. Then we give a short overview of a recent proof of the latter conjecture for almost all base fields via the theory of sheaves on moment graphs.

The combinatorics of Coxeter categories

We present an alternative construction of Soergel's category of bimodules associated to a reflection faithful representation of a Coxeter system. We show that its objects can be viewed as sheaves on the associated moment graph. We introduce an exact structure and show that Soergel's "special" bimodules are the projective objects. Then we construct the indecomposable projectives by both a global and a local method, discuss a version of the Kazhdan-Lusztig conjecture and prove it for universal Coxeter systems.

Kazhdan-Lusztig combinatorics via sheaves on Bruhat graphs

We study the projective objects in an exact category naturally associated to a Coxeter system. We discuss an analog of the Kazhdan-Lusztig conjecture and show how it follows from a "genericity" conjecture and how the latter follows from a "Hard Lefschetz" conjecture.

Sheaves on moment graphs and a localization of Verma flags

To any moment graph G we assign a subcategory V of the category of sheaves on G together with an exact structure. We show that in the case that the graph is associated to a non-critical block of the equivariant category O over a symmetrizable Kac-Moody algebra, V is equivalent (as an exact category) to the subcategory of modules that admit a Verma flag. The projective modules correspond under this equivalence to the intersection cohomology sheaves on the graph.

The combinatorics of category O for symmetrizable Kac-Moody algebras

We show that the structure of blocks outside the critical hyperplanes of category O over any symmetrizable Kac-Moody algebra depends only on the corresponding integral Weyl group and its action on the parameters of the Verma modules by giving a combinatorial description of the projective objects. As an application we derive the Kazhdan-Lusztig conjecture for non-integral blocks from the integral case in finite and affine situations.
