Perfectoid covers of abelian varieties and the weight-monodromy conjecture

Deligne's weight-monodromy conjecture gives control over the poles of local factors of L-functions of varieties at places of bad reduction. His proof in characteristic p was a step in his proof of the generalized Weil conjectures. Scholze developed the theory of perfectoid spaces to transfer Deligne's proof to characteristic 0, proving the conjecture for complete intersections in toric varieties. Building on Scholze's techniques, we prove the weight-monodromy conjecture for complete intersections in abelian varieties.

The conjugate uniformization via 1-motives

We use the $p$-divisible group attached to a 1-motive to generalize the conjugate $p$-adic uniformization of Iovita--Morrow--Zaharescu to arbitrary $p$-adic formal semi-abelian schemes or $p$-divisible groups over the ring of integers in a $p$-adic field. This mirrors a mixed Hodge theory construction of the inverse uniformization map for complex semi-abelian varieties. We also highlight the geometric structure of the target of the conjugate uniformization map, which is an \'{e}tale cover of a negative Banach--Colmez space in the sense of Fargues--Scholze.

On Picard Groups of Perfectoid Covers of Toric Varieties

Let $X$ be a proper smooth toric variety over a perfectoid field of prime residue characteristic $p$. We study the perfectoid space $\mathcal{X}^{perf}$ which covers $X$ constructed by Scholze, showing that $\text{Pic}(\mathcal{X}^{perf})$ is canonically isomorphic to $\text{Pic}(X)[p^{-1}]$. We also compute the cohomology of line bundles on $\mathcal{X}^{perf}$ and establish analogs of Demazure and Batyrev-Borisov vanishing. This generalizes the first author's analogous results for "projectivoid space".

Perfectoid covers of abelian varieties

For an abelian variety $A$ over an algebraically closed non-archimedean field of residue characteristic $p$, we show that there exists a perfectoid space which is the tilde-limit of $\varprojlim_{[p]}A$. Our proof also works for the larger class of abeloid varieties.

Properties of Extended Robba Rings

We extend the analogy between the extended Robba rings of p-adic Hodge theory and the one-dimensional affinoid algebras of rigid analytic geometry, proving some fundamental properties that are well known in the latter case. In particular, we show that these rings are regular and excellent. The extended Robba rings are of interest as they are used to build the Fargues-Fontaine curve.

Partition Statistics Equidistributed with the Number of Hook Difference One Cells

Let $λ$ be a partition, viewed as a Young diagram. We define the hook difference of a cell of $λ$ to be the difference of its leg and arm lengths. Define $h_{1,1}(λ)$ to be the number of cells of $λ$ with hook difference one. In the paper of Buryak and Feigin (arXiv:1206.5640), algebraic geometry is used to prove a generating function identity which implies that $h_{1,1}$ is equidistributed with $a_2$, the largest part of a partition that appears at least twice, over the partitions of a given size. In this paper, we propose a refinement of the theorem of Buryak and Feigin and prove some partial results using combinatorial methods. We also obtain a new formula for the q-Catalan numbers which naturally leads us to define a new q,t-Catalan number with a simple combinatorial interpretation.
