Computing the minimal perimeter polygon for digital objects in the triangular tiling

This work presents an algorithm, together with its correctness proof, to determine the minimum perimeter polygon (MPP) for digital objects given as regular complexes in the triangular plane tiling. Such objects are edge-adjacency-connected sets of triangle tiles that have no end tiles, and the point set union of all their tiles forms a simple polygon. Nevertheless, the boundary paths of the objects are not assumed to be simple. Then the MPP is a weakly simple polygon that coincides with the relative convex hull (i.e., geodesic hull) of a set $A$ with respect to a simple polygon $B$, where $A\subset B$, but $A$ is not necessarily a polygon, in fact it is generally not connected. Our MPP algorithm relies on constructing and iteratively constraining cones of visibility through forthcoming boundary tiles, it uses the structure of the canonical boundary path, the MPP frontier is the shortest polygonal curve following this path. We also propose a boundary tracing algorithm to obtain such paths from the objects.

One-dimensional subspaces of the $SL(n,\mathbb{R})$ Chiral Equations

In this work we find solutions of the ($n+2$)-dimensional Einstein Field Equations (EFE) with $n$ commuting Killing vectors in vacuum. In the presence of $n$ Killing vectors, the EFE can be separated into blocks of equations. The main part can be summarized in the chiral equation $\ (αg_{, \bar{z}} g^{-1})_{, z} + \ (αg_{, z} g^{-1})_{, \bar{z}} = 0$ with $ g\in SL(n,\mathbb{R})$. The other block reduces to the differential equation $(\ln f α^{1-1/n})_{, z} = 1/2 αtr( g_{, z} g^{-1})^2$ and its complex conjugate. We use the ansatz $g = g(ξ) $, where $ξ$ satisfies a generalized Laplace equation, so the chiral equation reduces to a matrix equation that can be solved using algebraic methods, turning the problem of obtaining exact solutions for these complicated differential equations into an algebraic problem. The different EFE solutions can be chosen with desired physical properties in a simple way.

Cosmic acceleration from topological considerations II: Fiber bundles

In this work we study an alternative topological model for explaining the observed acceleration of space-time, we answer the question of whether this acceleration could be a consequence of the topology of the universe. For doing that, we propose that the whole universe is composed of a four dimensional base space, which represents space-time, endowed with a fiber forming a principal fiber bundle. We analyze this hypothesis for a homogeneous and isotropic four dimensional space-time and show that the effect of the fiber onto the base space is that the space-time accelerates depending on the group of the fiber, even in an oscillatory way, resembling the behavior of the universe according to recent observations. We conclude that there is the possibility of the accelerating behavior of the universe being due to its whole topology instead of an exotic kind of matter.

Class of Einstein-Maxwell-Dilaton-Axion Space-Times

We use the harmonic maps ansatz to find exact solutions of the Einstein-Maxwell-Dilaton-Axion (EMDA) equations. The solutions are harmonic maps invariant to the symplectic real group in four dimensions $Sp(4,\Rreal)\sim O(5)$. We find solutions of the EMDA field equations for the one and two dimensional subspaces of the symplectic group. Specially, for illustration of the method, we find space-times that generalise the Schwarzschild solution with dilaton, axion and electromagnetic fields.

Scalar Field Dark Matter and Galaxy Formation

We present a general description of the scalar field dark matter (SFDM) hypothesis in the cosmological context. The scenario of structure formation under such a hypothesis is based on Jeans instabilities of fluctuations of the scalar field. It is shown that it is possible to form stable long lived objects consisting of a wide range of typical galactic masses around $10^{12}M_{\odot}$ once the parameters of the effective theory are fixed with the cosmological constraints. The energy density at the origin of such an object is smooth as it should.

Galactic Collapse of Scalar Field Dark Matter

We present a scenario for galaxy formation based on the hypothesis of scalar field dark matter. We interpret galaxy formation through the collapse of a scalar field fluctuation. We find that a cosh potential for the self-interaction of the scalar field provides a reasonable scenario for galactic formation, which is in agreement with cosmological observations and phenomenological studies in galaxies.
