On (Commercial) Benefits of Automatic Text Summarization Systems in the News Domain: A Case of Media Monitoring and Media Response Analysis

In this work, we present the results of a systematic study to investigate the (commercial) benefits of automatic text summarization systems in a real world scenario. More specifically, we define a use case in the context of media monitoring and media response analysis and claim that even using a simple query-based extractive approach can dramatically save the processing time of the employees without significantly reducing the quality of their work.

Tensor generators on schemes and stacks

We show that an algebraic stack with affine stabilizer groups satisfies the resolution property if and only if it is a quotient of a quasi-affine scheme by the action of the general linear group, or equivalently, if there exists a vector bundle whose associated frame bundle has quasi-affine total space. This generalizes a result of B. Totaro to non-normal and non-noetherian schemes and algebraic stacks. Also, we show that the vector bundle induces such a quotient structure if and only if it is a tensor generator in the category of quasi-coherent sheaves.

Limits of tropicalizations

We give general criteria under which the limit of a system of tropicalizations of a scheme over a nonarchimedean field is homeomorphic to the analytification of the scheme. As an application, we show that the analytification of an arbitrary closed subscheme of a toric variety is naturally homeomorphic to the limit of its tropicalizations, generalizing an earlier result of the third author for quasiprojective varieties.

The resolution property of algebraic surfaces

We prove that on separated algebraic surfaces every coherent sheaf is a quotient of a locally free sheaf. This class contains many schemes that are neither normal, reduced, quasiprojective or embeddable into toric varieties. Our methods extend to arbitrary $2$-dimensional schemes that are proper over a noetherian ring.
