On Pursell-Shanks type results

We prove a Lie-algebraic characterization of vector bundle for the Lie algebra $\mathcal{D}(E,M),$ seen as ${\rm C}^\infty(M)-$module, of all linear operators acting on sections of a vector bundle $E\to M$. We obtain similar result for its Lie subalgebra $\mathcal{D}^1(E,M)$ of all linear first-order differential operators. Thanks to a well-chosen filtration, $\mathcal{D}(E,M)$ becomes $\mathcal{P}(E,M)$ and we prove that $\mathcal{P}^1(E,M)$ characterizes the vector bundle without the hypothesis of being seen as ${\rm C}^\infty(M)-$module. We prove that the Lie algebra $\mathcal{S}(\mathcal{P}(E,M))$ of symbols of linear operators acting on smooth sections of a vector bundle $E\to M,$ characterizes it. To obtain this, we assume that $\mathcal{S}(\mathcal{P}(E,M))$ is seen as ${\rm C}^\infty(M)-$module. We obtain a similar result with the Lie algebra $\mathcal{S}^1(\mathcal{P}(E,M))$ of symbols of first-order linear operators without the hypothesis of being seen as a ${\rm C}^\infty(M)-$module.

On a Lie Algebraic Characterization of Vector Bundles

We prove that a vector bundle $π: E \to M$ is characterized by the Lie algebra generated by all differential operators on $E$ which are eigenvectors of the Lie derivative in the direction of the Euler vector field. Our result is of Pursell-Shanks type but it is remarkable in the sense that it is the whole fibration that is characterized here. The proof relies on a theorem of [Lecomte P., J. Math. Pures Appl. (9) 60 (1981), 229-239] and inherits the same hypotheses. In particular, our characterization holds only for vector bundles of rank greater than 1.

Alternated Hochschild Cohomology

In this paper we construct a graded Lie algebra on the space of cochains on a $\mathbbZ_2$-graded vector space that are skew-symmetric in the odd variables. The Lie bracket is obtained from the classical Gerstenhaber bracket by (partial) skew-symmetrization; the coboundary operator is a skew-symmetrized version of the Hochschild differential. We show that an order-one element $m$ satisfying the zero-square condition $[m,m]=0$ defines an algebraic structure called "Lie antialgebra". The cohomology (and deformation) theory of these algebras is then defined. We present two examples of non-trivial cohomology classes which are similar to the celebrated Gelfand-Fuchs and Godbillon-Vey classes.

Affine representations of Lie algebras and geometric interpretation in the case of smooth manifolds

In order to understand the structure of the cohomologies involved in the study of projectively equivariant quantizations, we introduce a notion of affine representation of a Lie algebra. We show how it is related to linear representations and 1-cohomology classes of the algebra. We classify the affine representations of the Lie algebra of vector fields of a smooth manifold associated to its action on symmetric tensor fields of type (1,2). Among them, we recover the space of symmetric affine linear connections and that of projective structures of the manifold. We compute some of the associated cohomologies.

Numeration systems on a regular language

Generalizations of linear numeration systems in which the set of natural numbers is recognizable by finite automata are obtained by describing an arbitrary infinite regular language following the lexicographic ordering. For these systems of numeration, we show that ultimately periodic sets are recognizable. We also study the translation and the multiplication by constants as well as the order dependence of the recognizability.
