Aluthge transforms of unbounded weighted composition operators in $L^2$-spaces

We describe the Aluthge transform of an unbounded weighted composition operator acting in an $L^2$-space. We show that its closure is also a weighted composition operator with the same symbol and a modified weight function. We investigate its dense definiteness. We characterize $p$-hyponormality of unbounded weighted composition operators and provide results on how it is affected by the Aluthge transformation. We show that the only fixed points of the Aluthge transformation on weighted composition operators are quasinormal ones.

Weighted shifts on directed trees. Their multiplier algebras, reflexivity and decompositions

We study bounded weighted shifts on directed trees. We show that the set of multiplication operators associated with an injective weighted shift on a rooted directed tree coincides with the WOT/SOT closure of the set of polynomials of the weighted shift. From this fact we deduce reflexivity of those weighted shifts on rooted directed trees whose all path-induced spectral-like radii are positive. We show that weighted shifts with positive weights on rooted directed trees admit a Wold-type decomposition. We prove that the pairwise orthogonality of the factors in the decomposition is equivalent to the weighted shift being balanced.

Quasinormal extensions of subnormal operator-weighted composition operators in $\ell^2$-spaces

We prove the subnormality of an operator-weighted composition operator whose symbol is a transformation of a discrete measure space and weights are multiplication operators in $L^2$-spaces under the assumption of existence of a family of probability measures whose Radon-Nikodym derivatives behave regular along the trajectories of the symbol. We build the quasinormal extension which is a weighted composition operator induced by the same symbol. We give auxiliary results concerning commutativity of operator-weighted composition operators with multiplication operators.

Subnormality of unbounded composition operators over one-circuit directed graphs: exotic examples

A recent example of a non-hyponormal injective composition operator in an $L^2$-space generating Stieltjes moment sequences, invented by three of the present authors, was built over a non-locally finite directed tree. The main goal of this paper is to solve the problem of whether there exists such an operator over a locally finite directed graph and, in the affirmative case, to find the simplest possible graph with these properties (simplicity refers to local valency). The problem is solved affirmatively for the locally finite directed graph $\mathscr G_{2,0}$, which consists of two branches and one loop. The only simpler directed graph for which the problem remains unsolved consists of one branch and one loop. The consistency condition, the only efficient tool for verifying subnormality of unbounded composition operators, is intensively studied in the context of $\mathscr G_{2,0}$, which leads to a constructive method of solving the problem. The method itself is partly based on transforming the Krein and the Friedrichs measures coming either from shifted Al-Salam-Carlitz $q$-polynomials or from a quartic birth and death process.

Unbounded composition operators via inductive limits: cosubnormal operators with matrix symbols. II

The paper deals with unbounded composition operators with infinite matrix symbols acting in $L^2$-spaces with respect to the gaussian measure on $\mathbb{R}^\infty$. We introduce weak cohyponormality classes $\EuScript{S}_{n,r}^*$ of unbounded operators and provide criteria for the aforementioned composition operators to belong to $\EuScript{S}_{n,r}^*$. Our approach is based on inductive limits of operators.

A note on $k$-hyperreflexivity of Toeplitz-harmonic subspaces

The 2-hyperreflexivity of Toeplitz-harmonic type subspace generated by an isometry or a quasinormal operator is shown. The $k$-hyperreflexivity of the tensor product $\mathcal{S}\otimes \mathcal{V}$ of a $k$-hyperreflexive decomposable subspace $\mathcal{S}$ and an abelian von Neumann algebra $\mathcal{V}$ is established.

Subnormal weighted shifts on directed trees and composition operators in $L^2$ spaces with non-densely defined powers

It is shown that for every positive integer $n$ there exists a subnormal weighted shift on a directed tree (with or without root) whose $n$th power is densely defined while its $(n+1)$th power is not. As a consequence, for every positive integer $n$ there exists a non-symmetric subnormal composition operator $C$ in an $L^2$ space over a $σ$-finite measure space such that $C^n$ is densely defined and $C^{n+1}$ is not.

Unbounded Subnormal Composition Operators in L2-Spaces

A criterion for subnormality of unbounded composition operators in L2-spaces, written in terms of measurable families of probability measures satisfying the so-called consistency condition, is established. It becomes a new characterization of subnormality in the case of bounded composition operators. Pseudo-moments of a measurable family of probability measures that satisfies the consistency condition are proved to be given by the Radon-Nikodym derivatives which appear in Lambert's characterization of bounded composition operators. A criterion for subnormality of composition operators induced by matrices is provided. The question of subnormality of composition operators over discrete measure spaces is studied. Two new classes of subnormal composition operators over discrete measure spaces are introduced. A recent criterion for subnormality of weighted shifts on directed trees by the present authors is essentially improved in the case of rootless directed trees and nonzero weights by dropping the assumption of density of C\infty-vectors in the underlying L2-space.

Unbounded subnormal weighted shifts on directed trees

A new method of verifying the subnormality of unbounded Hilbert space operators based on an approximation technique is proposed. Diverse sufficient conditions for subnormality of unbounded weighted shifts on directed trees are established. An approach to this issue via consistent systems of probability measures is invented. The role played by determinate Stieltjes moment sequences is elucidated. Lambert's characterization of subnormality of bounded operators is shown to be valid for unbounded weighted shifts on directed trees that have sufficiently many quasi-analytic vectors, which is a new phenomenon in this area. The cases of classical weighted shifts and weighted shifts on leafless directed trees with one branching vertex are studied.
