Predicting Emotion Intensity in Polish Political Texts: Comparing Supervised Models and Large Language Models in a Resource-Poor Language

This study explores the use of large language models (LLMs) to predict emotion intensity in Polish political texts, a resource-poor language context. The research compares the performance of several LLMs against a supervised model trained on an annotated corpus of 10,000 social media texts, evaluated for the intensity of emotions by expert judges. The findings indicate that while the supervised model generally outperforms LLMs, offering higher accuracy and lower variance, LLMs present a viable alternative, especially given the high costs associated with data annotation. The study highlights the potential of LLMs in low-resource language settings and underscores the need for further research on emotion intensity prediction and its application across different languages and continuous features. The implications suggest a nuanced decision-making process to choose the right approach to emotion prediction for researchers and practitioners based on resource availability and the specific requirements of their tasks.

Analytical solution of Brill waves

A class of analytical solutions of axially symmetric vacuum initial data for a self-gravitating system has been found. The active region of the constructed gravitational wave is a thin torus around which the solution is conformally flat. For higher values of gravitational wave amplitude the resulting hypersurface contains apparent horizons.

Evaluation of Bartnik's quasilocal mass function

Bartnik's definition of gravitational quasilocal energy is analyzed. For a wide class of systems Bartnik's function is given by the ADM mass of some vacuous extension. As an example we calculate mass of a non central ball in Schwarzschild geometry. The ratio mass to volume becomes singular in the limit of small volumes.

Penrose Inequality for Gravitational Waves

We investigate axially symmetric asymptotically flat vacuum self-gravitating system. A class of initial data with apparent horizon was numerically constructed. The examined solutions satisfy the Penrose inequality. The prior analysis of a massive system and the present results suggest that either massive or sourcefree configurations fulfill the Penrose inequality.

Condensation of Matter and Trapped Surfaces in Quasi-Polar Gauge

We continue the investigation of formation of trapped surfaces in strongly curved , conformally flat geometries. Initial data in quasi-polar gauges rather then maximal ones are considered. This implies that apparent horizons coincide with minimal surfaces. Necessary and sufficient conditions for the formation of trapped surfaces are given. These results can be generalized to include the case with gravitational radiation. We found that mass of a body inside a fixed volume is bounded from above if geometry of a Cauchy slice is smooth.
