On non-trivial spectra of trivial gauge theories

In this Letter we point out that the analytic solution of the two dimensional U(1) gauge theory, on a finite lattice, reveals in the continuum limit the renowned Manton's spectrum of topological electric fluxes together with their effective hamiltonian and wave functions. We extend this result for the system with strings and external charges providing also a novel interpretation of the theta parameter. Some further generalizations are also outlined.

Screening in two-dimensional gauge theories

We analyze the problem of screening in 1+1 dimensional gauge theories. Using QED2 as a warm-up for the non-abelian models we show the mechanism of the string breaking, in particular the vanishing overlap of the Wilson loops to the broken-string ground state that has been conjectured in higher-dimensional analyses. We attempt to extend our analysis to non-integer charges in the quenched and unquenched cases, in pursuit of the numerical check of a renowned result for the string tension between arbitrarily-charged fermions in the massive Schwinger model.

Non-perturbative renormalization in coordinate space for $N_f=2$ maximally twisted mass fermions with tree-level Symanzik improved gauge action

We present results of a lattice QCD application of a coordinate space renormalization scheme for the extraction of renormalization constants for flavour non-singlet bilinear quark operators. The method consists in the analysis of the small-distance behaviour of correlation functions in Euclidean space and has several theoretical and practical advantages, in particular: it is gauge invariant, easy to implement and has relatively low computational cost. The values of renormalization constants in the X-space scheme can be converted to the MSbar scheme via 4-loop continuum perturbative formulae. Our results for $N_f=2$ maximally twisted mass fermions with tree-level Symanzik improved gauge action are compared to the ones from the RI-MOM scheme and show full agreement with this method.

Preliminary study of two-dimensional SU(N) Yang-Mills theory with adjoint matter by Hybrid Monte Carlo approach

Two-dimensional non-abelian quantum field models provide a useful laboratory for analytic and numerical investigations of quantum theories with gauge symmetry. They can exhibit various features, such as charge confinement, which are known from D=4 theories like QCD. Several analytic predictions concerning the spectra of two-dimensional systems with adjoint matter were postulated and numerical results were obtained using Discrete Light Cone Quantization techniques, however none of them has been checked via Monte Carlo simulations. In this Letter we present two such models which are particularly interesting from the physical point of view and discuss first numerical results.

Recursive approach to supersymmetric quantum mechanics for arbitrary fermion occupation number

We present in details a numerical approach for solving supersymmetric quantum mechanical systems with a gauge symmetry valid in all fermionic sectors. The method uses a recursive algorithm to calculate matrix elements of any gauge invariant operator in the Fock basis, in particular of the Hamiltonian operator, and can be used for any gauge group. We describe its application to a supersymmetric anharmonic oscillator model with discrete spectrum.

Exact solutions to D=2 Supersymmetric Yang-Mills Quantum Mechanics with SU(3) gauge group

In this article we present the cut Fock space approach to the D=d+1=2, Supersymmetric Yang-Mills Quantum Mechanics (SYMQM). We start by briefly introducing the main features of the framework. We concentrate on those properties of the method which make it a convenient set up not only for numerical calculations but also for analytic computations. In the main part of the article a sample of results are discussed, namely, analytic and numerical analysis of the D=2, SYMQM systems with SU(2) and SU(3) gauge symmetry.

Classical trajectories and quantum supersymmetry

We analyze a supersymmetric system with four flat directions. We observe several interesting properties, such as the coexistence of the discrete and continuous spectrum in the same range of energies. We also solve numerically the classical counterpart of this system. A similar analysis is then done for an alike, but non-supersymmetric system. The comparison of theses classical and quantum results may serve as a suggestion about classical manifestations of supersymmetry.
