Modified Power law Inflation: solution to the graceful exit problem and improvement of dark energy models

We study power law inflation (PLI) with a monomial potential and find a novel exact solution. It is well known that conventional PLI with exponential potential is inconsistent with the Planck data. Unlike the standard PLI, present model does not suffer from graceful exit problem and it agrees fairly well with recent observations. We have calculated the spectral index and the tensor-to-scalar ratio which are in very good agreement with recent observational data and also comparable with other modified inflationary models. A technique has been used which shows that the large cosmological constant reduces with expansion of the Universe in case of the power law inflation. The coupling of the inflaton with gravitation is the main point in this technique. The basic assumption here is that the two metric tensors in the gravitational and the inflaton parts correspond to different conformal frames which is in contradiction with the conventional power law inflation where the inflaton directly coupled with the background metric tensor. This fact has direct application to different dark energy models and assisted quintessence theory.

Weyl transformation: a dynamical degree of freedom in the light of Dirac's Large Number Hypothesis

In Einstein's Field Equation(EFE) the geometry of the space-time is connected with the matter distribution. The geometry or the gravitational sector deals with classical macroscopic objects involving gravitational units while the matter sector can be better described by quantum theory involving atomic units. It has been argued by Bisabr that there exists an epoch-dependent conversion factor between these two unit systems present in two different conformal frames,i.e. the conformal factor is epoch dependent. We argue that the conformal transformation is a dynamical degree of freedom describing it's possible relevance in inflation in context to the graceful exit problem, dynamics of the cosmological constant Λ and justify the argument in the light of consequences of Dirac's Large Number hypothesis(LNH).

Cosmological Correlations in Power Law Inflation models

Scalar field with non-minimal coupling to curvature scalar is studied in Robertson-Walker background. The infrared limit of two point function, and, in turn, of the energy-momentum tensor of scalar field have been considered in the power law inflation model. In this limit, within the perfect fluid model, consistent evolution of scale factor following power law inflation gives rise to growing mode solution for negative value of coupling constant. A simplified calculation for density perturbation in power law inflationary models is presented with these mode functions. Salient features of the perturbation spectra has been commented upon.

Inflation in anisotropic brane universe using tachyon field

Cosmological solution to the gravitational field equations in the generalized Randall-Sundrum model for an anisotropic brane with Bianchi I geometry and perfect fluid as matter sources has been considered. The matter on the brane is described by a tachyonic field. The solution admits inflationary era and at a later epoch the anisotropy of the universe washes out. We obtain two classes of cosmological scenario, in the first case universe evolves from singularity and in the second case universe expands without singularity.

Generalized phenomenological models of dark energy

It was first observed at the end of the last century that the universe is presently accelerating. Ever since, there have been several attempts to explain this observation theoretically. There are two possible approaches. The more conventional one is to modify the matter part of the Einstein Field Equations and the second one is to modify the geometry part. We shall consider two phenomenological models based on the former, more conventional approach within the context of General Relativity. The phenomenological models in this paper consider a $Λ$ term as a function of $\frac{\ddot{a}}{a}$ and $ρ$ where $a$ and $ρ$ are the scale factor and matter-energy density respectively. Constraining the free parameters of the models with latest observational data gives satisfactory values of parameters as considered by us initially. Without any field-theoretic interpretation, we explain the recent observations with a dynamical cosmological constant.

Inflationary phase and role of dark energy: Revisited

The inflationary phase of the Universe is explored by proposing a toy model related to the scalar field, termed as {\it inflaton}. The potential part of the energy density in the said era is assumed to have a constant vacuum energy density part and a variable part containing the inflaton. The prime idea of the proposed model constructed in the framework of the closed Universe is based on a fact that the inflaton is the root cause of the orientation of the space. According to this model the expansion of the Universe in the inflationary epoch is not approximately rather exactly exponential in nature and thus it can solve some of the fundamental puzzles, viz. flatness as well as horizon problems. It is also predicted that the constant energy density part in the potential may be associated to the dark energy, which is eventually different from the vacuum energy, at least in the inflationary phase of the Universe. However, the model keeps room for the end of inflationary era.
