Different seniority states of $^{119-126}$Sn isotopes: shell model description

In the present work available experimental data up to high-spin states of $^{119-126}$Sn isotopes with different seniority ($v$), including $v$ = 4, 5, 6, and 7 have been interpreted with shell model, by performing full-fledged shell model calculations in the 50-82 valence shell composed of $1g_{7/2}$, $2d_{5/2}$, $1h_{11/2}$, $3s_{1/2}$, and $2d_{3/2}$ orbitals. The results have been compared with the available experimental data. These states are described in terms of broken neutron pairs occupying the $h_{11/2}$ orbital. Possible configurations of seniority isomers in these nuclei are discussed. The breaking of three neutron pairs have been responsible for generating high-spin states. The isomeric states $5^-$, $7^-$, $10^+$ and $15^-$ of even Sn isotopes, and isomeric states $19/2^+$, $23/2^+$, $27/2^-$ and $35/2^+$ of odd Sn isotopes, are described in terms of different seniority. For even-Sn isotopes, the isomeric states $5^-$, $7^-$, and $10^+$ are due to seniority $v$ = 2; the isomeric state $15^-$ is due to seniority $v$ = 4, and in the case of odd-Sn isotopes, the isomeric states $19/2^+$, $23/2^+$, and $27/2^-$ are due to seniority $v$ = 3, and the isomeric state $35/2^+$ in $^{123}$Sn is due to seniority $v$ = 5. These are maximally-aligned spin, which involve successive pair breakings in the $ν(h_{11/2})$ orbit.

The gallium anomaly revisited

The gallium anomaly, i.e. the missing electron-neutrino flux from $^{37}$Ar and $^{51}$Cr electron-capture decays as measured by the GALLEX and SAGE solar-neutrino detectors, has been among us already for about two decades. We present here a new estimate of the significance of this anomaly based on cross-section calculations using nuclear shell-model wave functions obtained by exploiting recently developed two-nucleon interactions. The gallium anomaly of the GALLEX and SAGE experiments is found to be smaller than that obtained in previous evaluations, decreasing the significance from 3.0$σ$ to 2.3$σ$. This result is compatible with the recent indication in favor of short-baseline $\barν_{e}$ disappearance due to small active-sterile neutrino mixing obtained from the combined analysis of the data of the NEOS and DANSS reactor experiments.

Ab Initio No Core Shell Model Study of Neutron Rich Nitrogen Isotopes

In the present paper, we have calculated the energy spectra for neutron rich $^{18-22}$N isotopes using no core shell model (NCSM).To calculate the energy spectrum we have used three different $NN$ potentials, inside non-local outside Yukawa (INOY), next-to-next-to-next-leading order (N3LO) from chiral effective field theory and charge-dependent Bonn 2000 (CDB2K). The INOY potential, which is a two body interaction but also have the effect of three body forces by short range and non local character present in it. The calculations have been done at $\hbarΩ$=20 MeV, 14 MeV and 12 MeV using INOY, N3LO and CDB2K potentials, respectively. Apart from this, we have also performed shell model calculations with the YSOX interaction. The results with INOY interaction show good agreement with the experimental data in comparison to other three interactions. We have also shown the occupancy of different orbitals involved corresponding to the largest model space ($N_{max}$= 4) in the present calculations.

$Ab~initio$ calculations for Gamow-Teller strengths in $sd$ shell

In the present work we perform a systematic shell model study of Gamow-Teller transition strength distributions in $sd$ shell nuclei using $ab~initio$ effective interactions. The $ab~initio$ effective interactions are based on in-medium similarity renormalization group (IM-SRG) and coupled-cluster effective interaction (CCEI) approaches. The aim of the present work is to test the predictive power of $ab~initio$ effective interactions by using the available experimental data of Gamow-Teller strength distributions in $sd$ shell nuclei. We perform calculations for $^{20}$Ne $\rightarrow$ $^{20}$F, $^{23}$Na $\rightarrow$ $^{23}$Mg, $^{23}$Na $\rightarrow$ $^{23}$Ne, $^{24}$Mg $\rightarrow$ $^{24}$Na, $^{24}$Mg $\rightarrow$ $^{24}$Al, $^{25}$Mg $\rightarrow$ $^{25}$Al, $^{26}$Mg $\rightarrow$ $^{26}$Na, $^{26}$Mg $\rightarrow$ $^{26}$Al, $^{26}$Si $\rightarrow$ $^{26}$Al, $^{27}$Al $\rightarrow$ $^{27}$Si, $^{28}$Si $\rightarrow$ $^{28}$P, $^{31}$P $\rightarrow$ $^{31}$Si, and $^{32}$S $\rightarrow$ $^{32}$P transitions. For comparison we also show the results obtained by using the phenomenological USDB Hamiltonian. The phenomenological USDB results of the Gamow-Teller (GT$_+$/GT$_-$) strength distributions show reasonable agreements with the experimental data in comparison to the $ab~initio$ interactions. We also calculate the electron capture reaction rates for $^{23}$Na(e$^-$, $ν$)$^{23}$Ne and $^{25}$Mg(e$^-$, $ν$)$^{25}$Na using $ab~initio$ and USDB interactions.

Shell model results for $T=1$ and $T=0$ bands in $^{66}$As

Results of a comprehensive shell model (SM) analyses, within the full $f_{5/2}pg_{9/2}$ model space, of the recently available experimental data [P. Ruotsalainen et al., Phy. Rec. C {88}, 024320 (2013)] with four $T=0$ bands and one $T=1$ band in the odd-odd $N=Z$ nucleus $^{66}$As are presented. The calculations are performed using jj44b effective interaction developed recently by B.A. Brown and A.F. Lisetskiy for this model space. For the lowest two $T=0$ bands and the $T=1$ band, the results are in reasonable agreement with experimental data and deformed shell model is used to identify their intrinsic structure. For the $T=1$ band, structural change at $8^+$ is predicted. For the third $9^+$ band with $T=0$, the shell model $B(E2)$ values and quadrupole moments (in addition to energies) are consistent with the interpretation in terms of aligned isoscalar $np$ pair in $g_{9/2}$ orbit coupled to the $^{64}$Ge ground band. Similarly, the $9^+$ level of band 4 and a close lying $5^+$ level are found to be isomeric states in the analysis. Finally, energies of the band 5 members calculated using shell model with both positive and negative parity show that the observed levels are most likely negative parity levels. The SM results with jj44b are also compared with the results obtained using JUN45 interaction.

First-principles results for electromagnetic properties of $sd$ shell nuclei

In this work we present $ab~initio$ shell-model calculations for electric quadrupole moments and magnetic dipole moments of $sd$ shell nuclei using valence-space Hamiltonians derived with two $ab~initio$ approaches: the in-medium similarity renormalization group (IM-SRG) and the coupled-cluster effective interaction (CCEI). Results are in a reasonable agreement with the available experimental data as well as with the results from the phenomenological USDB effective interaction. This work will add more information to the available $ab~initio$ results for the spectroscopy of $sd$ shell nuclei.
