Algebraic Aspects of combined matrices

In this work, we present algebraic results concerning the combined matrices $\mathcal{C}(A)$, where the entries of $A$ belong to a number field $K$ and $A$ is a non-singular matrix. In other words, $A$ is a $n\times n$ matrix belonging to the General Linear Group over $K$, denoted by $\mathrm{GL}_n(K)$. We also analyze the case in which matrix $A$ belongs to algebraic subgroups of $\mathrm{GL}_n(K)$, such as the unimodular group, where $A^2$ is a $n\times n$ matrix belonging to the Special Linear Group, denoted by $\mathrm{SL}_n(K)$, triangular groups, diagonal groups, among others. In particular, we thouroughly examine the cases $n=2$ and $n=3$ for symmetric and non-symmetric matrices, providing explicit diagonalization of $\mathcal{C}(A)$, which includes characteristic polynomials with their eigenvalues and eigenfactors.

A survey of the number of supersolvable subgroups of finite groups

In this paper we survey a new criteria for solvability of finite groups in terms of number of supersolvable (also known as polycyclic) and non-supersolvable subgroups. In particular, we present original examples of supersolvable groups such as non-abelian groups with two cyclic generators. Additionally, we present some examples and applications in GAP system providing some description about recent criteria for solvability and properties of finite groups based on the number of supersolvable and non-supersolvable subgroups of a finite group $G$.

A note on the integrability of exceptional potentials via polynomial bi-homogeneous potentials

This paper is concerned with the polynomial integrability of the two-dimensional Hamiltonian systems associated to complex homogeneous polynomial potentials of degree $k$ of type $V_{k,l}=α(q_2-i q_1)^l (q_2+iq_1)^{k-l}$ with $α\in\mathbb{C}$ and $l=0,1,\dots, k$, called exceptional potentials. Hietarinta \cite{Hietarinta1983} proved that the potentials with $l=0,1,k-1,k$ and $l=k/2$ for $k$ even are polynomial integrable. We present an elementary proof of this fact in the context of the polynomial bi-homogeneous potentials, as was introduced by Combot et al. \cite{Combot2020}. In addition, we take advantage of the fact that we can exchange the exponents to derive an additional first integral for $V_{7,5}$, unknown so far. The paper concludes with a Galoisian analysis for $l=k/2$.

Liouvillian solutions for second order linear differential equations with Laurent polynomial coefficient

This paper is devoted to a complete parametric study of Liouvillian solutions of the general trace-free second order differential equation with a Laurent polynomial coefficient. This family of equations, for fixed orders at $0$ and $\infty$ of the Laurent polynomial, is seen as an affine algebraic variety. We proof that the set of Picard-Vessiot integrable differential equations in the family is an enumerable union of algebraic subvarieties. We compute explicitly the algebraic equations of its components. We give some applications to well known subfamilies as the doubly confluent and biconfluent Heun equations, and to the theory of algebraically solvable potentials of Shrödinger equations. Also, as an auxiliary tool, we improve a previously known criterium for second order linear differential equations to admit a polynomial solution.

Transcritical Bifurcations and Algebraic Aspects of Quadratic Multiparametric Families

This article reveals an analysis of the quadratic systems that hold multiparametric families therefore, in the first instance the quadratic systems are identified and classified in order to facilitate their study and then the stability of the critical points in the finite plane, its bifurcations, stable manifold and lastly, the stability of the critical points in the infinite plane, afterwards the phase portraits resulting from the analysis of these families are graphed. To properly perform this study it was necessary to use some results of the non-linear systems theory, for this reason vital definitions and theorems were included because of their importance during the study of the multiparametric families. Algebraic aspects are also included.

From Poincaré to May: The Genesis of Discrete Dynamics

In this paper, the origin of discrete dynamics is stated from a historical point of view, as well as its main ideas: fixed and periodic points, chaotic behaviour, bifurcations. This travel will begin with Poincaré's work and will finish with May's work, one of the most important scientific papers of 20th century. This paper is based on the M.Sc. thesis "Simple Permutations, Pasting and Reversing", written by the first author under the guidance of the second author.

Nonintegrability of the unfoldings of codimension-two bifurcations

Codimension-two bifurcations are fundamental and interesting phenomena in dynamical systems. Fold-Hopf and double-Hopf bifurcations are the most important among them. We study the unfoldings of these two codimension-two bifurcations, and obtain sufficient conditions for their nonintegrability in the meaning of Bogoyavlenskij. We reduce the problems of the unfoldings to those of planar polynomial vector fields and analyze the nonintegrability of the planar vector fields, based on Ayoul and Zung's version of the Morales-Ramis theory. New useful criteria for nonintegrability of planar polynomial vector fields are also given. The approaches used here are applicable to many problems including circular symmetric systems.

Variations for Some Painlevé Equations

This paper first discusses irreducibility of a Painlevé equation $P$. We explain how the Painlevé property is helpful for the computation of special classical and algebraic solutions. As in a paper of Morales-Ruiz we associate an autonomous Hamiltonian $\mathbb{H}$ to a Painlevé equation $P$. Complete integrability of $\mathbb{H}$ is shown to imply that all solutions to $P$ are classical (which includes algebraic), so in particular $P$ is solvable by ''quadratures''. Next, we show that the variational equation of $P$ at a given algebraic solution coincides with the normal variational equation of $\mathbb{H}$ at the corresponding solution. Finally, we test the Morales-Ramis theorem in all cases $P_{2}$ to $P_{5}$ where algebraic solutions are present, by showing how our results lead to a quick computation of the component of the identity of the differential Galois group for the first two variational equations. As expected there are no cases where this group is commutative.

Liouvillian solutions for second order linear differential equations with polynomial coefficients

In this paper we present an algebraic study concerning the general second order linear differential equation with polynomial coefficients. By means of Kovacic's algorithm and asymptotic iteration method we find a degree independent algebraic description of the spectral set: the subset, in the parameter space, of Liouiville integrable differential equations. For each fixed degree, we prove that the spectral set is a countable union of non accumulating algebraic varieties. This algebraic description of the spectral set allow us to bound the number of eigenvalues for algebraically quasi-solvable potentials in the Schrödinger equation.

Algebraic and qualitative remarks about the family $yy'= (αx^{m+k-1} + βx^{m-k-1})y + γx^{2m-2k-1}$

The aim of this paper is the analysis, from algebraic point of view and singularities studies, of the 5-parametric family of differential equations \begin{equation*}\label{folpz} yy'=(αx^{m+k-1}+βx^{m-k-1})y+γx^{2m-2k-1}, \quad y'=\frac{dy}{dx} \end{equation*} where $a,b,c\in \mathbb{C}$, $m,k\in \mathbb{Z}$ and $$α=a(2m+k) \quad β=b(2m-k), \quad γ=-(a^2mx^{4k}+cx^{2k}+b^2m).$$ This family is very important because include Van Der Pol equation. Moreover, this family seems to appear as exercise in the celebrated book of Polyanin and Zaitsev. Unfortunately, the exercise presented a typo which does not allow to solve correctly it. We present the corrected exercise, which corresponds to the title of this paper. We solve the exercise and afterwards we make algebraic and of singularities studies to this family of differential equations. To illustrate the qualitative and algebraic techniques we present an example of a biparametric quadratic Polyanin-Zaitsev vector field.

Galoisian and Qualitative Approaches to Linear Polyanin-Zaitsev Vector Fields

The analysis of dynamical systems has been a topic of great interest for researches mathematical sciences for a long times. The implementation of several devices and tools have been useful in the finding of solutions as well to describe common behaviors of parametric families of these systems. In this paper we study deeply a particular parametric family of differential equations, the so-called \emph{Linear Polyanin-Zaitsev Vector Field}, which has been introduced in a general case, in the previous paper by the same authors, as a correction of a family presented in the classical book of Polyanin and Zaitsev. Linear Polyanin-Zaitsev Vector Field is transformed into a Liénard equation and in particular we obtain the Van Der Pol equation. We present some algebraic and qualitative results to illustrate some interactions between algebra and the qualitative theory of differential equations in this parametric family.

Generalized Lennard-Jones Potentials, SUSYQM and Differential Galois Theory

In this paper we start with proving that the Schrödinger equation (SE) with the classical $12-6$ Lennard-Jones (L-J) potential is nonintegrable in the sense of the differential Galois theory (DGT), for any value of energy; i.e., there are no solutions in closed form for such differential equation. We study the $10-6$ potential through DGT and SUSYQM; being it one of the two partner potentials built with a superpotential of the form $w(r)\propto 1/r^5$. We also find that it is integrable in the sense of DGT for zero energy. A first analysis of the applicability and physical consequences of the model is carried out in terms of the so called De Boer principle of corresponding states. A comparison of the second virial coefficient $B(T)$ for both potentials shows a good agreement for low temperatures. As a consequence of these results we propose the $10-6$ potential as an integrable alternative to be applied in further studies instead of the original $12-6$ L-J potential. Finally we study through DGT and SUSYQM the integrability of the SE with a generalized $(2ν-2)-ν$ L-J potential. This analysis do not include the study of square integrable wave functions, excited states and energies different than zero for the generalization of L-J potentials.

Differential Galois Theory and non-Integrability of Planar Polynomial Vector Fields

We study a necessary condition for the integrability of the polynomials fields in the plane by means of the differential Galois theory. More concretely, by means of the variational equations around a particular solution it is obtained a necessary condition for the existence of a rational first integral. The method is systematic starting with the first order variational equation. We illustrate this result with several families of examples. A key point is to check wether a suitable primitive is elementary or not. Using a theorem by Liouville, the problem is equivalent to the existence of a rational solution of a certain first order linear equation, the Risch equation. This is a classical problem studied by Risch in 1969, and the solution is given by the "Risch algorithm". In this way we point out the connection of the non integrablity with some higher transcendent functions, like the error function.

Isomonodromy for the Degenerate Fifth Painlevé Equation

This is a sequel to papers by the last two authors making the Riemann-Hilbert correspondence and isomonodromy explicit. For the degenerate fifth Painlevé equation, the moduli spaces for connections and for monodromy are explicitly computed. It is proven that the extended Riemann-Hilbert morphism is an isomorphism. As a consequence these equations have the Painlevé property and the Okamoto-Painlevé space is identified with a moduli space of connections. Using MAPLE computations, one obtains formulas for the degenerate fifth Painlevé equation, for the Bäcklund transformations.

Some time ago has been studied mathematical models for biogas production due to its importance in the use of control and optimization of re\-new\-able resources and clean energy. In this paper we combine two algebraic methods to obtain solutions of Abel equation of first kind that arise from a mathematical model to biogas production formulated in France on 2001. The aim of this paper is obtain Liouvillian solutions of Abel's equations through Hamiltonian Algebrization. As an illustration, we present graphics of solutions for Abel equations and solutions for algebrized Abel equations.

Pasting and Reversing Approach to Matrix Theory

The aim of this paper is to study some aspects of matrix theory through Pasting and Reversing. We start giving a summary of previous results concerning to Pasting and Reversing over vectors and matrices, after we rewrite such properties of Pasting and Reversing in matrix theory using linear mappings to finish with new properties and new sets in matrix theory involving Pasting and Reversing. In particular we introduce new linear mappings: Palindromicing and Antipalindromicing mappings, which allow us to obtain palindromic and antipalindromic vectors and matrices.

Simple permutations with order $4n + 2$ by means of Pasting and Reversing

The problem of genealogy of permutations has been solved partially by Stefan (odd order) and Acosta-Humánez \& Bernhardt (power of two). It is well known that Sharkovskii's theorem shows the relationship between the cardinal of the set of periodic points of a continuous map, but simple permutations will show the behaviour of those periodic points. Recently Abdulla et al studied the structure of minimal $4n+2$-orbits of the continuous endomorphisms on the real line. This paper studies some combinatorial dynamics structures of permutations of mixed order $4n+2$, describing its genealogy, using Pasting and Reversing.

Liouvillian Propagators, Riccati Equation and Differential Galois Theory

In this paper a Galoisian approach to build propagators through Riccati equations is presented. The main result corresponds to the relationship between the Galois integrability of the linear Schrödinger equation and the virtual solvability of the differential Galois group of its associated characteristic equation. As main application of this approach we solve the Ince's differential equation through Hamiltonian Algebrization procedure and Kovacic Algorithm to find the propagator for a generalized harmonic oscillator that has applications describing the process of degenerate parametric amplification in quantum optics and the description of the light propagation in a nonlinear anisotropic waveguide. Toy models of propagators inspired by integrable Riccati equations and integrable characteristic equations are also presented.
