Non-commutative space engine: a boost to thermodynamic processes

We introduce quantum heat engines that perform quantum Otto cycle and the quantum Stirling cycle by using a coupled pair of harmonic oscillator as its working substance. In the quantum regime, different working medium is considered for the analysis of the engine models to boost the efficiency of the cycles. In this work, we present Otto and Stirling cycle in the quantum realm where the phase space is non-commutative in nature. By using the notion of quantum thermodynamics we develop the thermodynamic variables in non-commutative phase space. We encounter a catalytic effect (boost) on the efficiency of the engine in non-commutative space (i.e, we encounter that the Stirling cycle reaches near to the efficiency of the ideal cycle) when compared with the commutative space. Moreover, we obtained a notion that the working medium is much more effective for the analysis of the Stirling cycle than that of the Otto cycle.

Bound on efficiency of heat engine from uncertainty relation viewpoint

Quantum cycles in established heat engines can be modeled with various quantum systems as working substances. For example, a heat engine can be modeled with an infinite potential well as the working substance to determine the efficiency and work done. However, in this method, the relationship between the quantum observables and the physically measurable parameters i.e., the efficiency and work done is not well understood from the quantum mechanics approach. A detailed analysis is needed to link the thermodynamic variables (on which the efficiency and work done depends) with the uncertainty principle for better understanding. Here, we present the connection of the sum uncertainty relation of position and momentum operators with thermodynamic variables in the quantum heat engine model. We are able to determine the upper and lower bounds on the efficiency of the heat engine through the uncertainty relation.

Binary Black Hole Information Loss Paradox & Future Prospects

Various techniques to tackle the black hole information paradox have been proposed. A new way out to tackle the paradox is via the use of a pseudo-density operator. This approach has successfully dealt with the problem with a two qubit entangle system for a single black hole. In this paper, we present the interaction with a binary black hole system by using an arrangement of the three qubit system of Greenberger Horne Zeilinger (GHZ) state. We show that our results are in excellent agreement with the theoretical value. We have also studied the interaction between the two black holes by considering the correlation between the qubits in the binary black hole system. The results depict a complete agreement with the proposed model. In addition to the verification, we also propose how modern detection of gravitational waves can be used on our optical setup as an input source, thus bridging the gap with the gravitational wave's observational resources in terms of studying black hole properties with respect to quantum information and entanglement.

Quantum Cycle in Relativistic Non-Commutative Space with Generalized Uncertainty Principle correction

Quantum heat cycles and quantum refrigerators are analyzed using various quantum systems as their working mediums. For example, to evaluate the efficiency and the work done of the Carnot cycle in the quantum regime, one can consider the harmonic oscillator as it's working medium. For all these well-defined working substances (which are analyzed in commutative space structure), the efficiency of the engine is not up to the mark of the Carnot efficiency. So, one inevitable question arise, can one observe a catalytic effect on the efficiency of the engines and refrigerators when the space structure is changed? In this paper, two different working substance in non-commutative spacetime with relativistic and generalized uncertainty principle corrections has been considered for the analysis of the efficiency of the heat engine cycles. The efficiency of the quantum heat engine gets a boost for higher values of the non-commutative parameter with a harmonic oscillator as the working substance. In the case of the second working medium (one-dimensional infinite potential well), the efficiency shows a constant result in the non-commutative space structure.

Relativistic quantum heat engine from uncertainty relation standpoint

Established heat engines in quantum regime can be modeled with various quantum systems as working substances. For example, in the non-relativistic case, we can model the heat engine using infinite potential well as a working substance to evaluate the efficiency and work done of the engine. Here, we propose quantum heat engine with a relativistic particle confined in the one-dimensional potential well as working substance. The cycle comprises of two isothermal processes and two potential well processes of equal width, which forms the quantum counterpart of the known isochoric process in classical nature. For a concrete interpretation about the relation between the quantum observables with the physically measurable parameters (like the efficiency and work done), we develop a link between the thermodynamic variables and the uncertainty relation. We have used this model to explore the work extraction and the efficiency of the heat engine for a relativistic case from the standpoint of uncertainty relation, where the incompatible observables are the position and the momentum operators. We are able to determine the bounds (the upper and the lower bounds) of the efficiency of the heat engine through the thermal uncertainty relation.

Non-Commutative space: boon or bane for quantum engines and refrigerators

Various quantum systems are considered as the working substance for the analysis of quantum heat cycles and quantum refrigerators. The ongoing technological challenge is how efficiently can a heat engine convert thermal energy to mechanical work. The seminal work of Carnot has proposed a fundamental upper limit-the Carnot limit on the efficiency of the heat engine. However, the heat engines can be operated beyond the fundamental upper limit by exploiting non-equilibrium reservoirs. Here, the change in the space structure introduces the non-equilibrium effect. So, a question arises whether a change in the space structure can provide any boost for the quantum engines and refrigerators. The efficiency of the heat cycle and the coefficient of performance (COP) of the refrigerator cycles in the non-commutative space are analyzed here. The efficiency of the quantum heat engines gets a boost with the change in the space structure than the traditional quantum heat engine but the effectiveness of the non-commutative parameter is less for the efficiency compared to the COP of the refrigerator. There is a steep boost for the coefficient of performance of the refrigerator cycles for the non-commutative space harmonic oscillator compared to the harmonic oscillator.

Probing Uncertainty Relations in Non-Commutative Space

In this paper, we compute uncertainty relations for non-commutative space and obtain a better lower bound than the standard one obtained from Heisenberg's uncertainty relation. We also derive the reverse uncertainty relation for product and sum of uncertainties of two incompatible variables for one linear and another non-linear model of the harmonic oscillator. The non-linear model in non-commutating space yields two different expressions for Schrödinger and Heisenberg uncertainty relation. This distinction does not arise in commutative space, and even in the linear model of non-commutative space.

Affect of Simulated Atmospheric Turbulence on Three Entangled Photons

The thorough experimental study for the measure of sustainability of the atmospheric turbulence of the entangled photons for two qubit has been analysed by G. Puentes et al. [Phys. Rev. A 75, 032319 (2007)]. Here in this paper we propose a scheme to measure the effect of entanglement in three entangled photon GHZ state with the help of simulated atmospheric turbulence. We simulate the result of affected entangled GHZ state by introducing turbulence in three entangled photon path alternatively. We observe, by introducing the turbulence in photon path we are loosing the entanglement property, because of the increase in entropy. We compare our result with Werner curve and observe that the simulated result perfectly fit with the theoretical result.
