Discovery of an Antiferromagnetic Topological Nodal-line Kondo Semimetal

The symbiosis of strong interactions, flat bands, topology and symmetry has led to the discovery of exotic phases of matter, including fractional Chern insulators, correlated moiré topological superconductors, and Dirac and Weyl semimetals. Correlated metals, such as those present in Kondo lattices, rely on the screening of local moments by a sea of non-magnetic conduction electrons. Here, we report on a unique topological Kondo lattice compound, CeCo2P2, where the Kondo effect - whose existence under the magnetic Co phase is protected by PT symmetry - coexists with antiferromagnetic order emerging from the flat bands associated with the Co atoms. Remarkably, this is the only known Kondo lattice compound where magnetic order occurs in non-heavy electrons, and puzzlingly, at a temperature significantly higher than that of the Kondo effect. Furthermore, at low temperatures, the emergence of the Kondo effect, in conjunction with a glide-mirror-z symmetry, results in a nodal line protected by bulk topology near the Fermi energy. These unusual properties, arising from the interplay between itinerant and correlated electrons from different constituent elements, lead to novel quantum phases beyond the celebrated topological Kondo insulators and Weyl Kondo semimetals. CeCo2P2 thus provides an ideal platform for investigating narrow bands, topology, magnetism, and the Kondo effect in strongly correlated electron systems.

Pressure-induced monotonic enhancement of Tc to over 30 K in the superconducting Pr0.82Sr0.18NiO2 thin films

The successful synthesis of superconducting infinite-layer nickelate thin films with the highest Tc ~ 15 K has reignited great enthusiasms on this family of potential analogue to high-Tc cuprates. Pursuing a higher Tc is always an imperative task in studying a new superconducting material system. Here we report high-quality Pr0.82Sr0.18NiO2 thin films with Tconset ~ 17 K synthesized by carefully tuning the amount of CaH2 in the topological chemical reduction and the effect of pressure on its superconducting properties by measuring electrical resistivity under various pressures in a cubic anvil cell apparatus. We find that the onset temperature of the superconductivity, Tconset, can be enhanced monotonically from ~ 17 K at ambient pressure to ~ 31 K at 12.1 GPa without showing signatures of saturation upon increasing pressure. This encouraging result indicates that the Tc of infinite-layer nickelates superconductors still has room to go higher and it can be further boosted by applying higher pressures or strain engineering in the heterostructure films.

Combination of informational storage and logical processing based on an all-oxide asymmetric multiferroic tunnel junction

Multiferroic tunnel junctions (MFTJs) have already been proved to be promising candidates for application in spintronics devices. The coupling between tunnel magnetoresistance (TMR) and tunnel electroresistance (TER) in MFTJs can provide four distinct resistive states in a single memory cell. Here we show that in an all-oxide asymmetric MFTJ of La0.7Sr0.3MnO3 /PbZr0.2Ti0.8O3 /La0.7Te0.3MnO3 (LSMO/PZT/LTMO) with p-type and n-type electrodes, the intrinsic rectification is observed and can be modified by the ferroelectric polarization of PZT. Owing to the combined TMR, TER and diode effects, two different groups of four resistive states under opposite reading biases are performed. With two parallel asymmetric junctions and the appropriate series resistance, the coexistence of logic units and quaternary memory cells can be realized in the same array devices. The asymmetric MFTJ structure enables more possibilities for designing next generation of multi-states memory and logical devices with higher storage density, lower energy consumption and significantly increased integration level.

Real time data access log analysis system of EAST tokamak based on spark

The experiment data generated by the EAST device is getting larger and larger, and it is necessary to monitor the MDSplus data storage server on EAST. In order to facilitate the management of users on the MDSplus server, a real-time monitoring log analysis system is needed. The data processing framework adopted by this log analysis system is the Spark Streaming framework in Spark ecosphere, whose real-time streaming data is derived from MDSplus logs. The framework also makes use of key technologies such as log monitoring, aggregation and distribution with framework likes Flume and Kafka which makes it possible for MDSplus mass log data processing power. The system can process tens of millions of unprocessed MDSplus log information at a second level, then model the log information and display it on the web. This report introduces the design and implementation of the overall architecture of real time data access log analysis system based on spark. Experimental results show that the system is proved to be with steady and reliable performance and has an important application value to the management of fusion experiment data. The system has been designed and will be adopted in the next campaign and the system details will be given in the paper.

Nodeless superconductivity in the SnAs-based van der Waals type superconductor NaSn2As2

We grew the single crystals of the SnAs-based van der Waals (vdW)-type superconductor NaSn$_2$As$_2$ and systematically measured its resistivity, specific heat, and ultralow-temperature thermal conductivity. The superconducting transition temperature $T_c$ = 1.60 K of our single crystal is 0.3 K higher than that previously reported. A weak but intrinsic anomaly situated at 193 K is observed in both resistivity and specific heat, which likely arises from a charge-density-wave (CDW) instability. Ultralow-temperature thermal conductivity measurements reveal a fully-gapped superconducting state with a negligible residual linear term in zero magnetic field, and the field dependence of $κ_0 / T$ further suggests NaSn$_2$As$_2$ is an $s$-wave superconductor.

Quantum oscillations and Dirac dispersion in the BaZnBi2 semimetal guaranteed by local Zn vacancy order

We have synthesized single crystals of Dirac semimetal candidates AZnBi2 with A=Ba and Sr. In contrast to A=Sr, the Ba material displays a novel local Zn vacancy ordering, which makes the observation of quantum oscillations in out-of-plane magnetic fields possible. As a new Dirac semimetal candidate, BaZnBi2 exhibits small cyclotron electron mass, high quantum mobility, and non-trivial Berry phases. Three Dirac dispersions are observed by ARPES and identified by first- principles band-structure calculations. Compared to AMn(Bi/Sb)2 systems which host Mn magnetic moments, BaZnBi2 acts as non-magnetic analogue to investigate the intrinsic properties of Dirac fermions in this structure family.

Two-dimensional Superconductivity from Dimerization of Atomically Ordered AuTe2Se4/3 Cubes

The emergent phenomena such as superconductivity and topological phase transitions can be observed in strict two-dimensional crystalline matters. Artificial interfaces and one atomic thickness layers are typical 2D materials of this kind. Although having 2D characters, most bulky layered compounds, however, do not possess these striking properties. Here, we report the 2D superconductivity in bulky AuTe2Se4/3,where the reduction in dimensionality is achieved through inducing the elongated covalent Te-Te bonds. The atomic-resolution images reveal that the Au, Te and Se are atomically ordered in a cube, among which are Te-Te bonds of 3.18 A and 3.28 A. The superconductivity at 2.85 K is discovered, which is unraveled to be the quasi-2D nature owing to the BKT topological transition. The nesting of nearly parallel Fermi sheets could give rise to strong electron-phonon coupling. It is proposed to further depleting the thickness could result in more topologically-related phenomena.

Tuning perpendicular magnetic anisotropy in the MgO/CoFeB/Ta thin films

Understanding the magnetic anisotropy at ferromagnetic metal/oxide interface is a fundamental and intriguing subject. Here we propose an approach to manipulate the strength of perpendicular magnetic anisotropy (PMA) by varying MgO thickness in the MgO/CoFeB/Ta thin films. We identify that the PMA at the MgO/CoFeB interface is tuned by the crystalline structure of bulk MgO layer and decreases dramatically due to the onset of crystalline MgO forming with the increase of MgO thickness. Our work opens an avenue to manipulate the magnetic anisotropy by the modification of the ferromagnetic metal/oxide interface.

A new variable in flow analysis

We have used a simple spectrum distribution which was derived from a hydrodynamical equation\cite{Csorgo} to fit the data of the STAR group. It is found that it can fit the $v_2$ of STAR group very well. We have found that $v_2$ is sensitive to both the effective temperature of particles and the expanding velocity. We have suggested a new variable ${\bf z}$ to be used in the flow analysis. This new variable will measure the correlation of particles momentum components. We have also shown that one of the $x$ or $y$ direction in the reaction plane is the direction which has the largest variance.

Q-boson interferometry and generalized Wigner function

Bose-Einstein correlations of two identically charged $Q$-bosons are derived considering these particles to be confined in finite volumes. Boundary effects on single $Q$-boson spectrum are also studied. We illustrate the effects on the spectrum and on the two-$Q$-boson correlation function by means of two toy models. We also derive a generalized expression for the Wigner function depending on the deformation parameter $Q$, which is reduced to its original functional form in the limit of $Q \to 1$.

Phase-space density in heavy-ion collisions revisited

We derive the phase space density of bosons from a general boson interferometry formula. We find that the phase space density is connected with the two-particles and the single particle density distribution functions. If the boson density is large, the two particles density distribution function can not be expressed as a product of two single particle density distributions. However, if the boson density is so small that two particles density distribution function can be expressed as a product of two single particle density distributions, then Bertsch's formula is recovered. For a Gaussian model, the effects of multi-particles Bose-Einstein correlations on the mean phase space density are studied.

Charged particle fluctuations and microscopic models of nuclear collisions

We study the event-by-event fluctuations of the charged particles and compare the results of different Monte-Carlo Generators (MCG): VNIb, HIJING, HIJING/B${\bar B}$ and RQMD. We find that the $D$-measure can be used to distinguish between the different gluon populations that are present in the MCG models. On the other hand, the value of the $D$-measure shows high sensitivity to the rescattering effects in VNIb model, but lower sensitivity to the rescattering effects in RQMD model. We also find that the $D$-measures from AA are consistent with the $D$-measures from $pp$ for all generators except VNIb. Therefore, any deviation among the values of $D$-measure for different impact parameters and between $pp$ and $AA$ collisions may indicate that either the rescattering effects play a key role in the interactions or there is new physics in $AA$ collisions.

Phi-measure of pions in high energy heavy-ion collisions

Event-by-Event fluctuations for high energy heavy-ion collisions are investigated. The $Φ$-measures are calculated for pions. It is found that multiparticle symmetrization correlation has great influence on the value of $Φ$ if the phase space density is high. Previous derivation of $Φ$-measure has neglected multiparticle quantum correlation. So the explanation of $Φ$-measure as a measure of dynamical correlation is reasonable only when multiparticles quantum correlation effects are smaller. We argue that the $Φ$-measure might be applicable at the SPS energy where the pion phase space density is much less than one.

Constraints on the size of the quark gluon plasma

We use simple entropy arguments to estimate the possible size of the QGP at the AGS and the SPS. We find that the possibility to form a large volume of QGP at the AGS or the SPS is very small. The size of the QGP at RHIC and the LHC is also predicted.

Small size boundary effects on two-pion interferometry

The Bose-Einstein correlations of two identically charged pions are derived when these particles, the most abundantly produced in relativistic heavy ion collisions, are confined in finite volumes. Boundary effects on single pion spectrum are also studied. Numerical results emphasize that conventional formulation usually adopted to describe two-pion interferometry should not be used when the source size is small, since this is the most sensitive case to boundary effects. Specific examples are considered for better illustration.

Multipion symmetrization effects on the source distribution

Any-order pion interferometry formulas for fixed pion multiplicity events and for mixed events are given. Multipion Bose-Einstein correlation effects on the two-pion interferometry and source distribution are studied. It is shown that generalized pion interferometry formula should depneds on pion multiplicity distribution. Pion condensate is also discussed in the paper.
