Euclid Quick Data Release (Q1). The Strong Lensing Discovery Engine F -- Bright and low-redshift strong lenses

We present 72 additional galaxy-galaxy strong lenses that complement the sample discovered in the Euclid Quick Release 1 data (63.1 deg^2) of the Strong Lens Discovery Engine (SLDE) papers A-E. It is shown that previous pre-selection of potential lenses, which excluded objects from the Gaia catalogue, led to missing several bright and low-redshift strong lenses, adding more than 10% new strong lens candidates compared to the previous search. In total, the catalogue includes 38 "grade A" (confident) and 34 "grade B" (probable) candidates. These lenses are identified through a combination of two independent searches for bright nearby objects: one based on machine-learning models followed by expert visual inspection, and the other based solely on expert visual inspection, targeting objects not included in the initial machine-learning selection (a limitation identified only after extensive visual inspection). With these additional strong lens candidates, we augment the expected number of high-confidence candidates in the Euclid Wide Survey from previous forecasts to 120000. Detailed semi-automated lens modelling confirms at least 41 systems out of 72, a fraction consistent with that found in SLDE A (315 out of 488). These include: multiple edge-on disc lenses; sources with arcs near the lens centre; "red sources"; and an edge-on disk galaxy lensing a galaxy merger, producing two sets of lensed features, an Einstein ring and a doubly imaged component. The median redshift of these systems is $\Delta$ z ~ 0.3 lower than that of the SLDE A sample.

Ultrafast terahertz responses in monolayer graphene

We theoretically investigate the ultrafast terahertz(THz) properties of monolayer graphene. The analytical formulations of the photon carrier, electric polarization and optical current are obtained by solving the Bloch-equations in present of the ultrafast THz Gaussian pulse. Graphene shows a large nonlinear and ultrafast optical response at THz frequencies due to the gapless and relativistic Dirac particles with nearly linear energy dispersion. It is found that the photon carrier density, electric polarization and optical current density increase with increasing the frequency of the THz pulse. These theoretical results are in agreement with recent experimental findings. This study confirms further that graphene exhibits important features and is relevant to the applications in the ultrafast THz fields.

On the non-planar beta-deformed N=4 super-Yang-Mills theory

The beta-deformation is one of the two superconformal deformations of the N=4 super-Yang-Mills theory. At the planar level it shares all of its properties except for supersymmetry, which is broken to the minimal amount. The tree-level amplitudes of this theory exhibit new features which depart from the commonly assumed properties of gauge theories with fields in the adjoint representation. We analyze in detail complete one-loop amplitudes and a nonplanar two-loop amplitude of this theory and show that, despite having only N=1 supersymmetry, two-loop amplitudes have a further-improved ultraviolet behavior. This phenomenon is a counterpart of a similar improvement previously observed in the double-trace amplitude of the N=4 super-Yang-Mills theory at three and four loop order and points to the existence of additional structure in both the deformed and undeformed theories.
