Constraints on the Intranight Optical Variability of Intermediate-Mass Black Hole Candidates

Intermediate-mass black holes (IMBHs) provide a unique regime for studying accretion variability at the low-mass end of the black hole population, yet their intranight optical variability (INOV) remains poorly constrained. We present a systematic investigation of INOV in an optically selected sample of IMBH candidates using high-cadence observations from the Zwicky Transient Facility (ZTF). From a parent sample of 1,447 broad H$\alpha$-selected candidates, we identify 64 IMBH candidates (median $f_{\mathrm{AGN}}\sim0.06$) with 163 intranight monitoring sessions. Apparent INOV signals identified by conventional ZTF PSF-fit photometry are largely associated with seeing-dependent changes in the relative contributions of compact nuclear and extended host components, which can mimic intrinsic short-timescale variability. In contrast, no robust INOV is detected with difference-image analysis. An ensemble structure function spanning $\Delta t\sim0.003$--$1600$ days reveals long-term variability in a small subsample of sources, whereas intrinsic variability remains unresolved at intranight timescales. Monte Carlo simulations further show that ZTF-like single-night monitoring has a low INOV recovery probability ($\sim1.2%$) for the variability amplitudes inferred from the long-term analysis. The recovery probability is primarily controlled by source brightness, AGN contribution, intrinsic variability amplitude, and photometric precision. These results demonstrate that the absence of detected INOV does not imply the absence of rapid accretion variability, but can reflect the limited detectability of low-amplitude signals under current observing capabilities. Our findings highlight the importance of robust photometric methodologies for future high-cadence variability studies of low-mass accreting black holes.

Observational Study of Multi-wavelength Synergistic Effects in 3C 120

The energy dissipation and particle acceleration mechanisms within relativistic jets remain fundamental questions in active galactic nuclei (AGN) research. In this paper, we present a comprehensive 13-year (2012-2025) multi-wavelength study of the broad-line radio galaxy 3C 120, utilizing Fermi-LAT ($\gamma$-ray), ASAS-SN (optical), and high-resolution VLBA (15 GHz and 43 GHz) monitoring. Cross-correlation analyses reveal that $\gamma$-ray flares lead radio emission by $11.08_{-1.88}^{+4.03}$ months at 15 GHz and $8.27_{-5.55}^{+3.45}$ months at 43 GHz. This frequency-dependent temporal hierarchy positions the high-energy dissipation zone upstream of the radio core, corroborating the opacity-driven core-shift effect. By tracking the parsec-scale jet morphology during major $\gamma$-ray flaring epochs, we demonstrate that radio outbursts systematically coincide with compact core brightening, pronounced surges in polarized flux, abrupt electric vector position angle rotations, and the subsequent ejection of superluminal knots. Ultimately, our internal radio correlations suggest that jet dynamics are governed by a dual mechanism: long-term kinematic and flux baseline variations are geometrically modulated by a secular jet precession, while rapid, highly energetic polarimetric bursts are driven by short-lived internal shocks propagating down the jet channel.

Comprehensive Analysis of Optical brightness and Color Variability of Blazars in the ZTF Survey DR22

This study conducts a comprehensive analysis of brightness and color variability in blazars, utilizing over six years of quasi-simultaneous g-band and r-band data from 1149 sources in the ZTF Data Release 22 (DR22), including 589 BL Lacs and 560 FSRQs. We quantify the amplitude of variability and the fractional root mean square (rms) variability for each source and statistically assess the overall and short-term color behaviors across different subclasses; examine the distribution of brightness variability characteristics across different blazar types and investigate how the extent of variability correlates with color trends. We found BL Lacs tend to exhibit a BWB (bluer when brighter) trend, while FSRQs display a RWB (redder when brighter) trend; BL Lacs with negligible host-galaxy contamination exhibit a BWB trend fraction of 14.7% (68/462) compared to 2.3% (11/462) for RWB trend, while FSRQs show 8.8% (49/560) BWB trend versus 14.1% (79/560) RWB trend. By statistically investigating how color behavior depends on brightness state across different timescales, we find that brighter states in both BL Lacs and FSRQs are more likely to exhibit BWB trend. Our results also show that BL Lacs with a BWB trend exhibit higher variability than those with a RWB trend, whereas FSRQs with a RWB trend display significantly greater variability than those with a BWB trend. These results suggest that blazar color variability depends jointly on source type, brightness state, and variability amplitude, highlighting the complexity of color evolution in blazars.

A Study on the Triggering of Nucleonic Direct Urca Processes in Neutron Stars of Specific Masses and Their Hyperon Dependence

This work aims to analyze how hyperons affect neutrino radiation properties in nucleonic direct URCA processes, expecting to provide useful references for finding evidence of the existence of hyperons in astronomical observations. This analysis is carried out using the GM1 and NL3 parameter sets under the SU(6) and SU(3) flavor symmetries in the relativistic mean field theory framework. Combined with the inferred mass and radius values of PSRs J1231-1411, J0030+0451, and J0740+6620, our results show that nucleonic direct Urca processes are absent in PSR J1231-1411 due to momentum conservation violation. In hyperon-containing PSR J0030+0451 (NL3 parameter set), the nucleonic direct Urca processes involving $e^{-}$/ $μ^{-}$ would occur. A large inferred mass span induces hyperon fraction variations, affecting neutrino emissivity. If the inferred mass of PSR J0030+0451 exceeds approximately 1.8 $M_{\odot}$, the neutrino luminosity of the nucleonic direct Urca processes under the SU(3) flavor symmetry remains nearly the same as that in npe$μ$ matter, without depending on hyperons. However, it exhibits an obvious hyperon dependence under the SU(6) spin-flavor symmetry. For hyperon-containing J0740+6620, the nucleonic direct Urca processes under the SU(3) flavor symmetry in GM1 parameter set predicts faster neutrino luminosity decline with hyperonic fraction than npe$μ$ matter, and under the SU(6) spin-flavor symmetry in NL3 parameter set it shows monotonic decreasing trend. The research shows that hyperonic fraction significantly affect the neutrino radiation properties of the nucleonic direct URCA processes in neutron stars. Different-mass pulsars (e.g., PSRs J1231-1411, J0030+0451, J0740+6620) exhibit the distinct nucleonic direct URCA processes behaviors, dependent on inferred masses/radii, parameter sets, and theoretical models.

The angular momentum of stars reflects the relationship between star-forming environment and galactic evolution history

This study focuses on stars with masses above the Kraft break in the \textit{Kepler} field. Their rotational angular momenta are essentially the same as those at the zero-age main sequence. The angular momentum dissipation experienced by these stars during their pre-main sequence phase is also relatively weak, so their rotational angular momentum can reflect the parameters of their parental molecular clouds. The reliability of angular momentum measurements was evaluated based on the phenomenon of angular momentum conservation observed in stars before and after the turn-off point in observational data. We find that stars with masses between 1.4$M_\odot$ and 1.8$M_\odot$ show an inverse proportionality between angular momentum and isochrone age. We propose that the angular momentum-age correlation reflects changes in the star-forming environment in the Milky Way's history. Besides, the observed inverse proportionality implies that, as the Milky Way has evolved, the stars formed within it tend to possess greater rotational angular momenta. This trend would promote the fragmentation of stars during the pre-main sequence phase and inhibit the formation of massive stars, providing a useful perspective for explaining variations in the initial mass function.

AT2021aeuk: A Repeating Partial Tidal Disruption Event Candidate in a Narrow-line Seyfert 1 galaxy

A black hole (BH) can tear apart a star that ventures within its tidal radius, producing a luminous flare as the stellar debris falls back, known as a tidal disruption event (TDE). While TDEs in quiescent galaxies are relatively well understood, identifying TDEs in active galactic nuclei (AGN) still remains a significant challenge. We present the discovery of AT2021aeuk, a transient exhibiting dual flares within around three years in a narrow-line Seyfert 1 galaxy. Multi-wavelength observations triggered during the second flare in 2023 revealed an extraordinary X-ray V-shaped light curve, strongly anti-correlated with the optical light curve and accompanied by a lag of $\sim$40 days. This behavior is inconsistent with both supernova and pure AGN origins. In addition, a new broad component emerges in the Balmer lines during the second flare, showing a clear reverberation signal to the continuum variation. We propose that the dual-flare may be linked to a repeating partial TDE (rpTDE), where the second flare results from a collision between the TDE stream and the inner accretion disk, triggering an optical flare while simultaneously partially destroying the X-ray corona. However, other mechanisms, such as a stellar-mass BH (sBH) merger within an accretion disk, could produce similar phenomena, which we cannot entirely rule out. The Vera C. Rubin Observatory will be a powerful tool for further investigating the nature of such events in the future.

First Detection of Radio Emission from the Intermediate Mass Black Hole in POX 52: Deep Multi-Band Observations with ATCA and VLA

We present the first multi-band centimeter detection of POX 52, a nearby dwarf galaxy believed to habor a robust intermediate mass black hole (IMBH). We conducted the deep observations using the Australia Telescope Compact Array (ATCA), spanning frequencies from 4.5 to 10 GHz, as well as the sensitive observations from the Karl G. Jansky Very Large Array (VLA) operating in its most extended A-configuration at S band (2--4 GHz) and C band (4--8 GHz). In the ATCA observations, the source shows a compact morphology, with only one direction marginally resolved. The higher resolution of the VLA allowed us to slightly resolve the source, fitting it well with a two-dimensional Gaussian model. The detected radio emission confirms the presence of Active Galactic Nucleus (AGN) activity, indicating either a low-power jet or AGN-driven winds/outflows. Our dual-epoch observations with ATCA and VLA, together with previous non-detection flux density upper limits, reveal radio emission variability spanning two decades. In addition, we find that POX 52 aligns well with the low-mass extension of the fundamental plane for high-accretion, radio-quiet massive AGNs.

Spectral Energy Distribution Variability of the Blazar OJ 287 during 2009-2021

Using nearly simultaneous radio, near-infrared, optical, and ultraviolet data collected since 2009, we constructed 106 spectral energy distributions (SEDs) of the blazar OJ 287. These SEDs were well-fitted by a log-parabolic model. By classifying the data into `flare' and `quiescent' segments, we found that the median flux at peak frequency of the SEDs during flare segments was 0.37$\pm$0.22 dex higher compared to quiescent segments, while no significant differences were observed in the median values of the curvature parameter $b$ or the peak frequency $\log ν_{\mathrm{p}}$. A significant bluer-when-brighter trend was confirmed through a relation between $V$ magnitude and $B-V$ color index, with this trend being stronger in the flare segments. Additionally, a significant anti-correlation was detected between $\log ν_{\mathrm{p}}$ and $b$, with a slope of 5.79 in the relation between $1/b$ and $\log ν_{\mathrm{p}}$, closer to the prediction from a statistical acceleration model other than a stochastic acceleration interpretation, though a notable discrepancy persists. This discrepancy indicates that additional factors, such as deviations from idealized conditions or radiative contributions-such as thermal emission from the accretion disk in the optical-UV range during quiescent states-may play a role in producing the observed steeper slope. Within the framework of statistical acceleration mechanism, lack of correlation between change in peak intensity and change in peak frequency suggests that change in electron energy distribution is unlikely to be responsible for the time-dependent SED changes. Instead, changes in Doppler boosting or magnetic fields may have a greater influence.

Financial Risk Assessment via Long-term Payment Behavior Sequence Folding

Online inclusive financial services encounter significant financial risks due to their expansive user base and low default costs. By real-world practice, we reveal that utilizing longer-term user payment behaviors can enhance models' ability to forecast financial risks. However, learning long behavior sequences is non-trivial for deep sequential models. Additionally, the diverse fields of payment behaviors carry rich information, requiring thorough exploitation. These factors collectively complicate the task of long-term user behavior modeling. To tackle these challenges, we propose a Long-term Payment Behavior Sequence Folding method, referred to as LBSF. In LBSF, payment behavior sequences are folded based on merchants, using the merchant field as an intrinsic grouping criterion, which enables informative parallelism without reliance on external knowledge. Meanwhile, we maximize the utility of payment details through a multi-field behavior encoding mechanism. Subsequently, behavior aggregation at the merchant level followed by relational learning across merchants facilitates comprehensive user financial representation. We evaluate LBSF on the financial risk assessment task using a large-scale real-world dataset. The results demonstrate that folding long behavior sequences based on internal behavioral cues effectively models long-term patterns and changes, thereby generating more accurate user financial profiles for practical applications.

Optical Continuum Reverberation Mapping of a Candidate IMBH in a Nearby Seyfert 1 Galaxy

To investigate the short-term variability and determine the size of the optical continuum emitting region of intermediate-mass black holes (IMBHs), we carried out high-cadence, multiband photometric monitoring of a Seyfert 1 galaxy J0249-0815 across two nights, together with a one-night single-band preliminary test. The presence of the broad Ha component in our target was confirmed by recent Paloma spectroscopic observations, 23 years after the Sloan Digital Sky Survey, ruling out the supernovae origin of the broad Ha line. The photometric experiment was primarily conducted utilizing four-channel imagers MuSCAT 3 and 4 mounted on 2 m telescopes within the Las Cumbres Observatory Global Telescope Network. Despite the expectation of variability, we observed no significant variation (<1.4%) on timescales of 6 to 10 hr. This nondetection is likely due to substantial host galaxy light diluting the subtle active galactic nucleus (AGN) variability. Additionally, we cannot rule out that the target was in a relatively quiescent state without intranight variability during our monitoring, owing to the stochastic nature of AGN variations. To enhance the possibility of detecting subtle variability signals and lag in future IMBH reverberation campaigns, it may be beneficial to select targets with a higher AGN-to-host flux ratio, and conduct dual-band preliminary tests and tailored simulations.

MVOC: a training-free multiple video object composition method with diffusion models

Video composition is the core task of video editing. Although image composition based on diffusion models has been highly successful, it is not straightforward to extend the achievement to video object composition tasks, which not only exhibit corresponding interaction effects but also ensure that the objects in the composited video maintain motion and identity consistency, which is necessary to composite a physical harmony video. To address this challenge, we propose a Multiple Video Object Composition (MVOC) method based on diffusion models. Specifically, we first perform DDIM inversion on each video object to obtain the corresponding noise features. Secondly, we combine and edit each object by image editing methods to obtain the first frame of the composited video. Finally, we use the image-to-video generation model to composite the video with feature and attention injections in the Video Object Dependence Module, which is a training-free conditional guidance operation for video generation, and enables the coordination of features and attention maps between various objects that can be non-independent in the composited video. The final generative model not only constrains the objects in the generated video to be consistent with the original object motion and identity, but also introduces interaction effects between objects. Extensive experiments have demonstrated that the proposed method outperforms existing state-of-the-art approaches. Project page: https://sobeymil.github.io/mvoc.com.

Correlation analysis between several observables of OJ 287 radio jet

We collected the archival data of blazar OJ~287 from heterogeneous very long baseline interferometry (VLBI) monitoring programs at 2.3 GHz, 8.6 GHz, 15 GHz and 43 GHz. The data reduction and observable extraction of those multi-band multi-epoch observations are batch-processed consistently with our automated pipeline. We present the multivariate correlation analysis on the observables at each band. We employ the cross-correlation function to search the correlations and the Monte Carlo (MC) technique to verify the certainty of correlations. Several correlations are found. The foremost findings are the correlations between the core flux density and the jet position angles on different scales, which validated the plausible predictions of the jet with precession characteristics. Meanwhile, there is a variation in the offset between the core EVPA and the inner-jet position angle over time at 15~GHz and 43~GHz.

UPST-NeRF: Universal Photorealistic Style Transfer of Neural Radiance Fields for 3D Scene

3D scenes photorealistic stylization aims to generate photorealistic images from arbitrary novel views according to a given style image while ensuring consistency when rendering from different viewpoints. Some existing stylization methods with neural radiance fields can effectively predict stylized scenes by combining the features of the style image with multi-view images to train 3D scenes. However, these methods generate novel view images that contain objectionable artifacts. Besides, they cannot achieve universal photorealistic stylization for a 3D scene. Therefore, a styling image must retrain a 3D scene representation network based on a neural radiation field. We propose a novel 3D scene photorealistic style transfer framework to address these issues. It can realize photorealistic 3D scene style transfer with a 2D style image. We first pre-trained a 2D photorealistic style transfer network, which can meet the photorealistic style transfer between any given content image and style image. Then, we use voxel features to optimize a 3D scene and get the geometric representation of the scene. Finally, we jointly optimize a hyper network to realize the scene photorealistic style transfer of arbitrary style images. In the transfer stage, we use a pre-trained 2D photorealistic network to constrain the photorealistic style of different views and different style images in the 3D scene. The experimental results show that our method not only realizes the 3D photorealistic style transfer of arbitrary style images but also outperforms the existing methods in terms of visual quality and consistency. The Origin of Radio Emission in Black Hole X-ray Binaries

We studied the relation of accretion-jet power and disk luminosity, especially the jet efficiencies and disk radiative efficiencies for different accretion disks as well as black hole (BH) spin, in order to explore the origin of radio emission in black hole X-ray binaries (BHXBs). We found that jet efficiency increases more rapidly (efficient) than the nearly constant disk radiative efficiency for thin disk component in high accretion regime, which could account for the steep track ($μ>1$) in the observed radio and X-ray luminosity relations ($L_{\rm R}\propto L_{\rm X}^μ$), but the thin disk component may not be able to explain the standard track ($μ\approx 0.6$) in the BHXBs. For hot accretion flows (HAF), the resulting jet efficiency changes along with the large range of accretions from quiescent state to nearly Eddington state, which could account for the standard track in the BHXBs. The BH spin-jet is discussed for the magnetic arrested disk (MAD) state; in this state, the spin-jet power might contribute to a linear correlation between jet power and mass accretion rate for a given source. More accurate observations are required to test the results.

Modeling and Understanding Ethereum Transaction Records via a Complex Network Approach

As the largest public blockchain-based platform supporting smart contracts, Ethereum has accumulated a large number of user transaction records since its debut in 2014. Analysis of Ethereum transaction records, however, is still relatively unexplored till now. Modeling the transaction records as a static simple graph, existing methods are unable to accurately characterize the temporal and multiplex features of the edges. In this brief, we first model the Ethereum transaction records as a complex network by incorporating time and amount features of the transactions, and then design several flexible temporal walk strategies for random-walk based graph representation of this large-scale network. Experiments of temporal link prediction on real Ethereum data demonstrate that temporal information and multiplicity characteristic of edges are indispensable for accurate modeling and understanding of Ethereum transaction networks.

Who Are the Phishers? Phishing Scam Detection on Ethereum via Network Embedding

Recently, blockchain technology has become a topic in the spotlight but also a hotbed of various cybercrimes. Among them, phishing scams on blockchain have been found making a notable amount of money, thus emerging as a serious threat to the trading security of the blockchain ecosystem. In order to create a favorable environment for investment, an effective method for detecting phishing scams is urgently needed in the blockchain ecosystem. To this end, this paper proposes an approach to detect phishing scams on Ethereum by mining its transaction records. Specifically, we first crawl the labeled phishing addresses from two authorized websites and reconstruct the transaction network according to the collected transaction records. Then, by taking the transaction amount and timestamp into consideration, we propose a novel network embedding algorithm called trans2vec to extract the features of the addresses for subsequent phishing identification. Finally, we adopt the oneclass support vector machine (SVM) to classify the nodes into normal and phishing ones. Experimental results demonstrate that the phishing detection method works effectively on Ethereum, and indicate the efficacy of trans2vec over existing state-of-the-art algorithms on feature extraction for transaction networks. This work is the first investigation on phishing detection on Ethereum via network embedding and provides insights into how features of large-scale transaction networks can be embedded.

Resolving the inner jet of PKS 1749+096 with super-resolution VLBA images at 7 mm

High resolution imaging of inner jets in Active Galactic Nuclei (AGNs) with VLBI at millimeter wavelengths provides deep insight into the launching and collimation mechanisms of relativistic jets. The BL Lac object, PKS 1749+096, shows a core-dominated jet pointing toward the northeast on parsec-scales revealed by various VLBI observations. In order to investigate the jet kinematics, in particular, the orientation of the inner jet on the smallest accessible scales and the basic physical conditions of the core, in this work we adopted a super-resolution technique, the Bi-Spectrum Maximum Entropy Method (BSMEM), to reanalyze VLBI images based on the Very Long Baseline Array (VLBA) observations of PKS 1749+096 within the VLBA-BU-BLAZAR 7 mm monitoring program. These observations include a total of 105 epochs covering the period from 2009 to 2019. We found that the stacked image of the inner jet is limb-brightened with an apparent opening angle of 50°.0 +/- 8°.0 and 42°.0 +/- 6°.0 at the distance of 0.2 and 0.3 mas (0.9 and 1.4 pc) from the core, corresponding to an intrinsic jet opening angle of 5°.2 +/- 1°.0 and 4°.3 +/- 0°.7, respectively. In addition, our images show a clear jet position angle swing in PKS 1749+096 within the last ten years. We discuss the possible implications of jet limb brightening and the connection of the position angle with jet peak flux density and gamma-ray brightness.
