Collider search of light dark matter model with dark sector decay

We explore the possibility that the dark matter relic density is not produced by thermal mechanism directly, but by the decay of other heavier dark sector particles which on the other hand can be produced by the thermal freeze-out mechanism. Using a concrete model with a light dark matter from dark sector decay, we study the collider signature of the dark sector particles in association with Higgs production processes. We find that the future lepton colliders can be a better place to probe the signature of this kind of light dark matter model than the hadron collider such as LHC. Meanwhile, it is found that a Higgs factory with center of mass energy 250 GeV has a better potential to resolve the signature of this kind of light dark matter model than the Higgs factory with center of mass energy 350 GeV.

Analysis of $W^\pm+4γ$ in the 2HDM Type-I at the LHC

We analyse a light charged Higgs boson in the 2-Higgs Doublet Model (2HDM) Type-I, when its mass satisfies the condition $M_{H^{\pm}} < M_{t}+M_{b}$ and the parameter space is consistent with theoretical requirements of self-consistency as well as the latest experimental constraints from Large Hadron Collider (LHC) and other data. Over such a parameter space, wherein the Standard Model (SM)-like state discovered at the LHC in 2012 is the heaviest CP-even state of the 2HDM, it is found that the decay modes of the charged Higgs boson are dominated by $H^{\pm} \rightarrow W^{\pm *} h$. Furthermore, the light neutral Higgs boson $h$ dominantly decays into two photons. Under these conditions, we find that the production and decay process $ p p \to H^\pm h \to {W^\pm}^{(*)} h h \to l ν_{l} + 4 γ$ ($l=e,μ$) is essentially background free. However, since the $W^{\pm(*)}$ could be largely off-shell and the $h$ state is very light, so that both the lepton coming from the former and the photons coming from the latter could be rather soft, we perform here a full Monte Carlo (MC) analysis at the detector level demonstrating that such a $W^{\pm} + 4γ$ signal is very promising, as it would be yielding significant excesses at the LHC with an integrated luminosity of $L=$ 300 $fb^{-1}$ at both $\sqrt{s}= 13$ and $14 ~\text{TeV}$.

Signature of 2HDM at Higgs Factories

The full one-loop corrections, both the weak and QED corrections, to the process $e^+ e^- \to Z ϕ$ ($ϕ=h^0,H^0$) in the two Higgs doublet model (2HDM) at the Higgs factories are presented. Up to the $O(α_{em})$ level, the virtual corrections are evaluated by using the FeynArts/FormCalc packages. The real emission corrections are computed using the Feynman Diagram Calculation (FDC) package and the collinear divergences are regularized by the structure functions of an electron. Using the FeynArts/FormCalc and the FDC packages, we study the corrections in the Standard Model (SM) and the 2HDM, respectively. Gauge dependence arising in the normalization of mixing angles is removed by using the pinch technique. After taking into account experimental constraints from the current LHC data, we propose four interesting benchmark scenarios for future colliders. By using these benchmark scenarios, we evaluate the deviation of $Δσ(e^+ e^- \to Z ϕ)$ from their SM values. We also examine Higgs boson decays $ϕ\to b\bar{b}$ and $ϕ\to τ^+τ^-$, which can have large electroweak (EW) contributions from triple Higgs couplings which are absent in the SM. It is found that for these benchmark scenarios, both EW and real emission corrections are sizeable and could be measured at a future $e^+ e^-$ colliders such as the ILC, CLIC, and CEPC.

One-loop radiative corrections to $e^+ e^-\to Zh^0/H^0A^0$ in the Inert Higgs Doublet Model

We compute the full one-loop radiative corrections (including both weak and QED corrections) for two processes $e^{+}e^{-}\to Z h^0,H^0 A^{0}$ in the Inert Higgs Doublet model (IHDM). Up to $O(α_{w})$ and $O(α_{em})$ order, we use FeynArts/FormCalc to compute the one-loop virtual corrections and Feynman Diagram Calculation (FDC) to evaluate the real emission, respectively. Being equipped with these computing tools, we investigate radiative corrections of new physics for both the degenerate and non-degenerate scenarios with three typical collision energies of future electron-positron colliders: 250 GeV, 500 GeV, and 1000GeV. By scanning the parameter space of IHDM, we identify the allowed regions which are consistent with constraints and bounds, from both theoretical and experimental sides. We find that the radiative corrections of the IHDM to $e^+ e^- \to Z h^0$ can be sizeable and are within the detection potentials of future Higgs factories. We also find that the new physics of IHDM could also be directly detected by observing the process $e^{+}e^{-}\to H^0 A^{0} $ which could have large enough production rate. We propose five benchmark points and examine their salient features which can serve as physics targets for future electron-positron colliders, such as CEPC/CLIC/FCC-ee/ILC as well as for LHC.

Highly Boosted Higgs Bosons and Unitarity in Vector-Boson Fusion at Future Hadron Colliders

We study the observability of new interactions which modify Higgs-pair production via vector-boson fusion processes at the LHC and at future proton-proton colliders. In an effective-Lagrangian approach, we explore in particular the effect of the operator $h^2 W_{μν}^a W^{a,μν}$, which describes the interaction of the Higgs boson with transverse vector-boson polarization modes. By tagging highly boosted Higgs bosons in the final state, we determine projected bounds for the coefficient of this operator at the LHC and at a future 27 TeV or 100 TeV collider. Taking into account unitarity constraints, we estimate the new-physics discovery potential of Higgs pair production in this channel.

Prospects of gravitational waves in the minimal left-right symmetric model

The left-right symmetric model (LRSM) is a well-motivated framework to restore parity and implement seesaw mechanisms for the tiny neutrino masses at or above the TeV-scale, and has a very rich phenomenology at both the high-energy and high-precision frontiers. In this paper we examine the phase transition and resultant gravitational waves (GWs) in the minimal version of LRSM. Taking into account all the theoretical and experimental constraints on LRSM, we identify the parameter regions with strong first-order phase transition and detectable GWs in the future experiments. It turns out in a sizeable region of the parameter space, GWs can be generated in the phase transition with the strength of $10^{-17}$ to $10^{-12}$ at the frequency of 0.1 to 10 Hz, which can be detected by BBO and DECIGO. Furthermore, GWs in the LRSM favor a relatively light $SU(2)_R$-breaking scalar $H_3^0$, which is largely complementary to the direct searches of a long-lived neutral scalar at the high-energy colliders. It is found that the other heavy scalars and the right-handed neutrinos in the LRSM also play an important part for GW signal production in the phase transition.

Implications of light charged Higgs boson at the LHC Run III in the 2HDM

In this study, we focus on the bosonic decays of light charged Higgs boson (i.e., with $M_{H^\pm}<m_t$) in the 2-Higgs Doublet Model (2HDM) Type-I. To study the signal of such a charged Higgs state at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC), in a scenario where the $H^0$ boson is the Standard Model (SM)-like one already discovered, we assume that it decays mainly via $h^0W^{\pm *}$ and/or $H^\pm\to A^0W^{\pm *}$ (i.e., via an off-shell $W^{\pm}$ boson), which can reach a sizable Branching Ratio (BR) for $\tanβ\geq4$, when the exclusion bounds from $H^\pm\toτν$ and $c{s}$ searches get weaker. By using six Benchmark Points (BPs), which are consistent with current LHC constraints, we perform a Monte Carlo (MC) study and examine the sensitivity of the LHC to light charged Higgs boson decaying via the above bosonic modes and produced in top decay following both single top and top pair production processes. Our findings demonstrate that, when the integrated luminosity can reach 100 fb$^{-1}$, the LHC has the potential to either discover or rule out most of these BPs via either of these two production and decay channels or both.

Isospin-Violating Dark Matter in the $U(1)'$ Model with $E_6$ Origin

We propose a $U(1)'$ model from $E_6$ which has an isospin-violation dark matter. By choosing a proper linear combination of two extra $U(1)$ gauge symmetries in $E_6$, it is natural to realize the ratio $f_n/f_p=-0.7$ so as to maximally relax the constraints from the Xenon based direct detection experiments. We study the sensitivities of the dark matter direct and indirect detection experiments, and identify the parameter spaces that can give the observed relic density. We also study the sensitivities of the future colliders with center mass energy $\sqrt{s}$= 33/50/100 TeV, and compare the different detection methods. We show that in some parameter spaces the future colliders can give much stronger limits.

Multi-Higgs Production and Unitarity in Vector-Boson Fusion at Future Hadron Colliders

We study multi-Higgs final states in vector boson fusion (VBF) processes at the LHC and at future proton-proton colliders, focusing on the prospects for measurements at 27 TeV and at 100 TeV. We use an effective Lagrangian which includes higher-dimensional operators in the mass eigenstates which are relevant to VBF processes and relate this to specific parameterizations and models for new physics in the Higgs sector. We derive theoretical constraints on the parameter space from the unitarity of $2\to n$ scattering amplitudes and apply the results to $V V \to hh$ and $h h h$ processes, where $V=W,Z$. As a result, we present constraints on differential distributions as appropriate to the study of $V V \to hh$ and $h h h$ processes.

Multi-photon production in the Type-I 2HDM

This paper presents a study of a possible contribution to a Higgs boson signal in the $hh\to γγγγ$ channel due to $H\to hh$ decays, in the framework of the CP-conserving 2-Higgs Doublet Model Type-I (2HDM-I), where the heavier of the two CP-even Higgs bosons defined herein, $H$, is the SM-like Higgs state observed with a mass of 125 GeV at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC). We perform a broad scan of the 2HDM-I parameter space, in presence of both up-to-date theoretical and experimental constraints, in order to extract the interesting regions yielding such a signal. Then, after validating our numerical framework against public experimental analyses carried out at the LHC, we proceed to assess its scope in constraining and/or extracting the $gg\to H\to hh\to γγγγ$ signal in presence of a sophisticated Monte Carlo (MC) simulation. We find that, over a substantial region of the 2HDM-I parameter space presently un-accessible, the LHC will be able to establish such a potential signature in the next 2--3 years.

Gravitation waves from QCD and electroweak phase transitions

We investigate the gravitation waves produced from QCD and electroweak phase transitions in the early universe by using a 5-dimension holographic QCD model and a holographic technicolor model. The dynamical holographic QCD model is to describe the pure gluon system, where a first order confinement-deconfinement phase transition can happen at the critical temperature around 250 ${\rm MeV}$. The minimal holographic technicolor model is introduced to model the strong dynamics of electroweak, it can give a first order electroweak phase transition at the critical temperature around 100-360 ${\rm GeV}$. We find that for both GW signals produced from QCD and EW phase transitions, in the peak frequency region, the dominant contribution comes from the sound waves, while away from the peak frequency region the contribution from the bubble collision is dominant. The peak frequency of gravitation wave determined by the QCD phase transition is located around $10^{-7}$ Hz which is within the detectability of FAST and SKA, and the peak frequency of gravitational wave predicted by EW phase transition is located at $0.002-0.007$ Hz, which might be detectable by BBO, DECIGO, LISA and ELISA.

New Physics in multi-Higgs boson final states

We explore the potential for the discovery of the triple-Higgs signal in the $2b2l^{\pm}4j+E\!\!\!/$ decay channel at a $100$ TeV hadron collider. We consider both the Standard Model and generic new-physics contributions, described by an effective Lagrangian that includes higher-dimensional operators. The selected subset of operators is motivated by composite-Higgs and Higgs-inflation models. In the Standard Model, we perform both a parton-level and a detector-level analysis. Although the parton-level results are encouraging, the detector-level results demonstrate that this mode will be really challenging. However, sizable contributions from new effective operators can largely increase the cross section and/or modify the kinematics of the Higgs bosons in the final state. Taking into account the projected constraints from single and double Higgs-boson production, we propose benchmark points in the new physics models for the measurement of the triple-Higgs boson final state for future collider projects.

Measuring Masses in Semi-Invisible Final States at Electron-Positron Colliders

Mass measurement of a particle whose decay products including invisible particles is a challenging task at colliders. For a new physics model involving a dark matter candidate $N$ and a $Z_2$ symmetry that stabilizes it, a typical new process at $e^+e^-$ colliders is the pair production $e^+e^- \to Y\bar{Y}$ followed by decay processes $Y\to aN$ and $\bar{Y}\to b\bar{N}$, where $a$ and $b$ are visible but $N$ is invisible. In this work, we propose a new method to measure the physical masses in this topology by making use of the kinematic equations given by momentum-energy conservation and on-shell conditions. For each event, the solvability of these equations determines a limited region on the trial $m_Y$-$m_N$ plane. The edge of this region can be used to define two variables, $m_Y^\mathrm{edge}$ and $m_N^\mathrm{edge}$, whose distributions are utilized to derive the measurement values of $m_Y$ and $m_N$. The measurement deviations and uncertainties are also estimated after including detector effects and background contamination.

Discovery potential of Higgs boson pair production through 4$\ell$+$E\!\!/$ final states at a 100 TeV collider

We explore the discovery potential of Higgs pair production at a 100 TeV collider via full leptonic mode. The same mode can be explored at the LHC when Higgs pair production is enhanced by new physics. We examine two types of fully leptonic final states and propose a partial reconstruction method. The reconstruction method can reconstruct some kinematic observables. It is found that the $m_{T2}$ variable determined by this reconstruction method and the reconstructed visible Higgs mass are important and crucial to discriminate the signal and background events. It is also noticed that a new variable, denoted as $Δm$ which is defined as the mass difference of two possible combinations, is very useful as a discriminant. We also investigate the interplay between the direct measurements of $t\bar{t} h$ couplings and other related couplings and trilinear Higgs coupling at hadron colliders and electron-positron colliders.

Probing triple-Higgs productions via $4b2γ$ decay channel at a 100 TeV hadron collider

The quartic self-coupling of the Standard Model Higgs boson can only be measured by observing the triple-Higgs production process, but it is challenging for the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) Run 2 or International Linear Collider (ILC) at a few TeV because of its extremely small production rate. In this paper, we present a detailed Monte Carlo simulation study of the triple-Higgs production through gluon fusion at a 100 TeV hadron collider and explore the feasibility of observing this production mode. We focus on the decay channel $HHH\rightarrow b\bar{b}b\bar{b}γγ$, investigating detector effects and optimizing the kinematic cuts to discriminate the signal from the backgrounds. Our study shows that, in order to observe the Standard Model triple-Higgs signal, the integrated luminosity of a 100 TeV hadron collider should be greater than $1.8\times 10^4$ ab$^{-1}$. We also explore the dependence of the cross section upon the trilinear ($λ_3$) and quartic ($λ_4$) self-couplings of the Higgs. We find that, through a search in the triple-Higgs production, the parameters $λ_3$ and $λ_4$ can be restricted to the ranges $[-1, 5]$ and $[-20, 30]$, respectively. We also examine how new physics can change the production rate of triple-Higgs events. For example, in the singlet extension of the Standard Model, we find that the triple-Higgs production rate can be increased by a factor of $\mathcal{O}(10)$.

Efficient Numerical Evaluation of Feynman Integral

Feynman loop integrals are a key ingredient for the calculation of higher order radiation effects, and are responsible for reliable and accurate theoretical prediction. We improve the efficiency of numerical integration in sector decomposition by implementing a quasi-Monte Carlo method associated with the CUDA/GPU technique. For demonstration we present the results of several Feynman integrals up to two loops in both Euclidean and physical kinematic regions in comparison with those obtained from FIESTA3. It is shown that both planar and non-planar two-loop master integrals in the physical kinematic region can be evaluated in less than half a minute with $\mathcal{O}(10^{-3})$ accuracy, which makes the direct numerical approach viable for precise investigation of higher order effects in multi-loop processes, e.g. the next-to-leading order QCD effect in Higgs pair production via gluon fusion with a finite top quark mass.

Probe Higgs boson pair production via the $3 \ell 2 j$ + missing $E_T$ mode

We perform a detailed hadron-level study on the sensitivity of Higgs boson pair production via the $WW^{*}WW^{*}$ channel with the final state $3 \ell 2 j$ + missing $E_T$ at the LHC with the collision energy $\sqrt{S} = 14$ TeV and a future 100 TeV collider. To avoid the huge background from $pp \to Z W + \textrm{jets}$ processes, we confine to consider the four lepton patterns: $e^\pm e^\pm μ^\mp $ and $μ^\pm μ^\pm e^\mp$. We propose a partial reconstruction method to determine the most reliable combination. After that, we examine a few crucial observables which can discriminate efficiently signal and background events, especially we notice that the observable $m_{\rm T2}$ is very efficient. For the LHC 14 TeV collisions, with an accumulated 3000 fb$^{-1}$ dataset, we find that the sensitivity of this mode can reach up to 1.5 $σ$ for the Standard Model and the triple coupling of Higgs boson $λ_3$ in the simplest effective theory can be constrained into the range [-1, 8] at $95\%$ confidence level; at a 100 TeV collider with the integrated luminosity 3000 fb$^{-1}$, the sensitivity can reach up to 13 $σ$ for the Standard Model and we find that all values of $λ_3$ in the effective theory can be covered up to 3$σ$ even without optimising signals. To precisely measure the triple coupling of Higgs boson $λ_3=1$ of the Standard Model at a 100 TeV collider, by using the invariant mass of three leptons which is robust to against the contamination of underlying events and pileup effects and by performing a $χ^2$ analysis, we find that it can be determined into a range [0.8, 1.5] at $95\%$ confidence level.
