ARP: Enhancing Quantized Skill Abstractions via Visual Alignment and Iterative Refinement for Robotic Manipulation

Learning visuomotor policies for long-horizon manipulation remains a fundamental challenge. Recent skill-based imitation learning methods based on discrete quantization have shown promising results by representing complex behaviors as temporally extended skills. However, most existing approaches primarily encode action trajectories into latent skills, yielding weak visual-semantic grounding and limiting the ability to leverage visual observations for skill selection. Moreover, discrete tokenization inevitably incurs precision errors during continuous action generation. To alleviate these issues, we propose Aligned Refinement Policy (ARP), a discrete-skill framework that couples semantic grounding with execution-level refinement. Specifically, ARP introduces (i) a visual--action alignment objective that contrastively aligns visual embeddings with pre-quantized action representations in a shared latent space while preserving a state-independent skill decoder, and (ii) a lightweight Iterative Residual Head (IRH) that performs a two-step refinement to recover fine-grained control for precise execution. Extensive experiments show that ARP achieves state-of-the-art performance on the LIBERO and Meta-World benchmarks. Moreover, real-robot experiments on the Kuavo 4 Pro humanoid platform further validate its effectiveness, yielding consistent performance gains over several baselines on two challenging manipulation tasks.

Long-distance distribution of telecom time-energy entanglement generated on a silicon chip

Entanglement distribution is a critical technique that enables numerous quantum applications. Most fiber-based long-distance experiments reported to date have utilized photon pair sources generated in bulk optical crystals, with the entanglement encoded in the polarization degree of freedom. Here, we create time-energy entanglement for photon pairs generated from an on-chip silicon ring resonator via SFWM process and report the distribution of the entanglement over standard optical fiber with distance >81 km. Our work paves the way for future large-scale quantum networks with connect of distant quantum nodes.

1.71 Tb/s Single-Channel and 56.51 Tb/s DWDM Transmission over 96.5 km Field-Deployed SSMF

We report an industry leading optical dense wavelength division multiplexing (DWDM) field trial with line rates per channel exceeding 1.66 Tb/s using 130 GBaud dual-polarization probabilistic constellation shaping 256-ary quadrature amplitude modulation (DP-PCS256QAM) in a high capacity data center interconnect (DCI) scenario. This research trial was performed on 96.5 km of field-deployed standard single mode G.652 fiber infrastructure of Deutsche Telekom in Germany employing Erbium-doped fiber amplifier (EDFA)-only amplification. A total of 34 channels were transmitted with 150 GHz spacing for a total fiber capacity of 56.51 Tb/s and a spectral efficiency higher than 11bit/s/Hz. In the single-channel transmission scenario 1.71 Tb/s was achieved over the same link. In addition, we successfully demonstrate record net bitrates of 1.88 Tb/s in back-to-back (B2B) using 130 GBaud DP-PCS400QAM.

End-to-end Quantum Secured Inter-Domain 5G Service Orchestration Over Dynamically Switched Flex-Grid Optical Networks Enabled by a q-ROADM

Dynamic and flexible optical networking enabled by NFV and SDN are the key technology enablers for supporting the dynamicity and bandwidth requirements of emerging 5G network services. To achieve the objective of 5G, Network Services (NSes) must be often deployed transparently over multiple administrative and technological domains. Such case often presents security risks since a typical NS may comprise a chain of network functions, each executed in different remote locations, and tampering within the network infrastructure may compromise their communication. To avoid such threats, QKD has been identified and proposed as a future-proof method immune to any algorithmic cryptanalysis based on quantum-physics mechanisms. The maturity of QKD has enabled the R&D of quantum networks coexisting with optical networks using telecom equipment. This makes the QKD a suitable candidate for the security of distributed and virtualised network services. In this paper, for the first time, we propose a dynamic quantum-secured optical network for supporting network services that are dynamically created by chaining VNF over multiple network domains. This work includes a new quantum-ROADM, extensions to SDN-enabled optical control plane, and extensions to NFV orchestration to achieve quantum-aware, on-demand chaining of VNFs. The experimental results verify the capability of routing quantum and classical data channels both individually and dynamically over shared fibre links. Moreover, quantum secured chaining of VNFs in 5G networks is experimentally demonstrated via interconnecting four autonomous 5G islands simultaneously through the q-ROADM with eight optical channels using the 5GUK Exchange orchestration platform. The experimental scenarios and results confirm the benefit of the proposed data plane architecture and control/management plane framework.

Experimental demonstration of Layered/Enhanced ACO-OFDM in short haul optical fiber transmission link

Asymmetrically clipped optical orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (ACO-OFDM) is theoretically more power efficient but less spectrally efficient than DC-bias OFDM (DCO-OFDM), with less power allocating to the informationless bias component by only using odd index sub-carriers. Layered/Enhanced asymmetrically clipped optical orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (L/E-ACO-OFDM) has been proposed to increase the spectral efficiency of ACO-OFDM. In this letter, we experimentally demonstrate a 30-km single mode fiber transmission using L/E-ACO-OFDM at 4.375 Gbits/s. Using a Volterra filter based equalizer, 2-dB and 1.5-dB Q-factor improvements for L/E-ACO-OFDM comparing with DCO-OFDM can be obtained in back-to-back and 30-km fiber transmission respectively.
