Temporal and Cross-Modal Alignment for Enhanced Audiovisual Video Captioning

While Multimodal Large Language Models (MLLMs) have advanced video understanding, achieving precise temporal and cross-modal alignment in audiovisual video captioning remains a formidable challenge. Most existing approaches suffer from modality detachment and temporal incoherence, failing to accurately bind auditory events to visual entities or capture complex causal dynamics. To address these deficiencies, we propose TCA-Captioner, a framework specifically engineered to enhance Temporal and Cross-Modal Alignment for audiovisual video captioning. We first introduce the Observer-Checker-Corrector (OCC) framework, an iterative refinement strategy that generates high-fidelity, meticulously grounded training data. Leveraging a curated high-density human interaction dataset, TCA-Captioner is optimized to model sophisticated audiovisual interactions. Furthermore, we present TCA-Bench, a diagnostic benchmark utilizing a Decoupled Evaluation Protocol to isolate and quantify model proficiency in audiovisual binding and temporal relational reasoning. Extensive experiments demonstrate that TCA-Captioner sets a new standard for temporally-coherent and synchronized audiovisual narratives.

LongCat-Video Technical Report

Video generation is a critical pathway toward world models, with efficient long video inference as a key capability. Toward this end, we introduce LongCat-Video, a foundational video generation model with 13.6B parameters, delivering strong performance across multiple video generation tasks. It particularly excels in efficient and high-quality long video generation, representing our first step toward world models. Key features include: Unified architecture for multiple tasks: Built on the Diffusion Transformer (DiT) framework, LongCat-Video supports Text-to-Video, Image-to-Video, and Video-Continuation tasks with a single model; Long video generation: Pretraining on Video-Continuation tasks enables LongCat-Video to maintain high quality and temporal coherence in the generation of minutes-long videos; Efficient inference: LongCat-Video generates 720p, 30fps videos within minutes by employing a coarse-to-fine generation strategy along both the temporal and spatial axes. Block Sparse Attention further enhances efficiency, particularly at high resolutions; Strong performance with multi-reward RLHF: Multi-reward RLHF training enables LongCat-Video to achieve performance on par with the latest closed-source and leading open-source models. Code and model weights are publicly available to accelerate progress in the field.

A Two-phase On-line Joint Scheduling for Welfare Maximization of Charging Station

The large adoption of EVs brings practical interest to the operation optimization of the charging station. The joint scheduling of pricing and charging control will achieve a win-win situation both for the charging station and EV drivers, thus enhancing the operational capability of the station. We consider this important problem in this paper and make the following contributions. First, a joint scheduling model of pricing and charging control is developed to maximize the expected social welfare of the charging station considering the Quality of Service and the price fluctuation sensitivity of EV drivers. It is formulated as a Markov decision process with variance criterion to capture uncertainties during operation. Second, a two-phase on-line policy learning algorithm is proposed to solve this joint scheduling problem. In the first phase, it implements event-based policy iteration to find the optimal pricing scheme, while in the second phase, it implements scenario-based model predictive control for smart charging under the updated pricing scheme. Third, by leveraging the performance difference theory, the optimality of the proposed algorithm is theoretically analyzed. Numerical experiments for a charging station with distributed generation and energy storage demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed method and the improved social welfare of the charging station.

Event-based EV Charging Scheduling in A Microgrid of Buildings

With the popularization of the electric vehicles (EVs), EV charging demand is becoming an important load in the building. Considering the mobility of EVs from building to building and their uncertain charging demand, it is of great practical interest to control the EV charging process in a microgrid of buildings to optimize the total operation cost while ensuring the transmission safety between the microgrid and the main grid. We consider this important problem in this paper and make the following contributions. First, we formulate this problem as a Markov decision process to capture the uncertain supply and EV charging demand in the microgrid of buildings. Besides reducing the total operation cost of buildings, the model also considers the power exchange limitation to ensure transmission safety. Second, this model is reformulated under event-based optimization framework to alleviate the impact of large state and action space. By appropriately defining the event and event-based action, the EV charging process can be optimized by searching a randomized parametric event-based control policy in the microgrid controller and implementing a selecting-to-charging rule in each building controller. Third, a constrained gradient-based policy optimzation method with adjusting mechanism is proposed to iteratively find the optimal event-based control policy for EV charging demand in each building. Numerical experiments considering a microgrid of three buildings are conducted to analyze the structure and the performance of the event-based control policy for EV charging.
