A unified quantum electrical platform for synchronous metrological realization of volt, ohm and ampere

A co-located integration quantum electrical standard is essential to reduce reliance on distributed traceability in high-accuracy metrology, especially for portable and on-site use. Metrologically, realizing any two of voltage, resistance, and current is sufficient, as the third follows from Ohm's law. The combination of Josephson voltage and quantum Hall resistance offers better uncertainty, but conflicts with the tesla-level field for quantum Hall and near-zero field for Josephson operation. Here we report a compact unified platform enabling co-realization of quantum voltage and resistance in a single cryostat near 4 K, with quantum current derived via Ohm's law. A hierarchical magnetic shielding with staged attenuation and spatial confinement allows 6 T and below 50 nT to coexist within 270 mm axial separation with negligible cross-coupling. In integrated operation, the Josephson and quantum Hall subsystems agree with expected quantized values within relative standard uncertainties of 2.6E-9 and 1.4E-8, respectively. Linking them via an improved cryogenic current comparator realizes a 50 μA quantum current with relative uncertainty of 6.6E-8. These results demonstrate that three basic electrical units can be synchronously realized with superior metrological consistency on a single integrated platform, offering a viable transition from distributed calibration chains toward compact-integrated quantum-based realization.

Record-High Superconductivity in Niobium-Titanium Alloy

Here we report the observation of extraordinary superconductivity in a pressurized commercial niobium-titanium alloy. We find that its zero-resistance superconductivity persists from ambient pressure to the pressure as high as 261.7 GPa, a record high pressure up to which a known superconducting state can continuously survives. Remarkably, at such an ultra-high pressure, although the ambient pressure volume is shrunk by 45% without structural phase transition, the superconducting transition temperature (TC) increases to ~19.1 K from ~9.6 K, and the critical magnetic field (HC2) at 1.8 K has been enhanced to 19 T from 15.4 T. These results set new records for both of the TC and the HC2 among all the known alloy superconductors composed of only transition metal elements. The remarkable high pressure superconducting properties observed in the NbTi alloy not only expand our knowledge on this important commercial superconductor but also are helpful for a better understanding on the superconducting mechanism.

Fabrication and some properties of biaxially aligned Sr0.6K0.4Fe2As2 superconductors by processing in high magnetic field

We fabricated the c axis and ab-plane biaxially aligned Sr0.6K0.4Fe2As2 superconductor using a two-step magnetic field procedure. The effect of magnetic fields on the structure and superconducting properties of Sr0.6K0.4Fe2As2 has been investigated by using X-ray diffraction and magnetic measurements. The degree of orientation of the samples was about 0.39 for the c axis and 0.51 for ab-plane orientation, as evaluated from the Lotgering factor of X-ray diffraction. This technology might be useful in a variety of potential applications, including preparing iron based superconducting bulks and wires with high critical currents.
