Sharp Adams-Moser-Trudinger type inequalities in the hyperbolic space

The purpose of this paper is to establish some Adams-Moser-Trudinger inequalities, which are the borderline cases of the Sobolev embedding, in the hyperbolic space $\mathbb H^n$. First, we prove a sharp Adams inequality of order two with the exact growth condition in $\mathbb H^n$. Then we use it to derive a sharp Adams-type inequality and an Adachi-Tanaka-type inequality. We also prove a sharp Adams-type inequality with Navier boundary condition on any bounded domain of $\mathbb H^n$, which generalizes the result of Tarsi to the setting of hyperbolic spaces. Finally, we establish a Lions-type lemma and an improved Adams-type inequality in the spirit of Lions in $\mathbb H^n$. Our proofs rely on the symmetrization method extended to hyperbolic spaces.

Sharp constant for Poincaré-type inequalities in the hyperbolic space

In this note, we establish a Poincaré-type inequality on the hyperbolic space $\mathbb H^n$, namely \[ \|u\|_{p} \leqslant C(n,m,p) \|\nabla^m_g u\|_{p} \] for any $u \in W^{m,p}(\mathbb H^n)$. We prove that the sharp constant $C(n,m,p)$ for the above inequality is \[ C(n,m,p) = \begin{cases} \left( p p'/(n-1)^2 \right)^{m/2}&\mbox{if $m$ is even},\\ (p/(n-1))\left( p p'/(n-1)^2\right)^{(m-1)/2} &\mbox{if $m$ is odd}, \end{cases} \] with $p' = p/(p-1)$ and this sharp constant is never achieved in $W^{m,p}(\mathbb H^n)$. Our proofs rely on the symmetrization method extended to hyperbolic spaces.

An improved Moser-Trudinger inequality involving the first non-zero Neumann eigenvalue with mean value zero in $\mathbf R^2$

Let $Ω$ be a smooth bounded domain in $\mathbf R^2$ and $λ^{\mathsf N} (Ω)$ the first non-zero Neumann eigenvalue of the operator $-Δ$ on $Ω$. In this paper, for any $γ\in [0, λ^{\mathsf N} (Ω) )$, we establish the following improved Moser-Trudinger inequality \[ \sup_{u} \int_Ω e^{2πu^2} dx < +\infty \] for arbitrary functions $u$ in $H^1(Ω)$ satisfying $\int_Ωu dx =0$ and $\|\nabla u\|_2^2 -α\|u\|_2^2 \leqslant 1$. Furthermore, this supremum is attained by some function $u^*\in H^1(Ω)$. This strengthens the results of Chang and Yang (J. Differential Geom. 27 (1988) 259-296) and of Lu and Yang (Nonlinear Anal. 70 (2009) 2992-3001).

Classification of entire solutions of $(-Δ)^N u + u^{-(4N-1)}= 0$ with exact linear growth at infinity in $\mathbf R^{2N-1}$

In this paper, we study global positive $C^{2N}$-solutions of the geometrically interesting equation $(-Δ)^N u + u^{-(4N-1)}= 0$ in $\mathbf R^{2N-1}$. We prove that any $C^{2N}$-solution $u$ of the equation having linear growth at infinity must satisfy the integral equation \[ u(x) = c_0 \int_{\mathbf R^{2N-1}} {|x - y|{u^{-(4N-1)}}(y)dy} \] for some positive constant $c_0$ and hence takes the following form \[ u(x) = (1+|x|^2)^{1/2} \] in $\mathbf R^{2N-1}$ up to dilations and translations. We also provide several non-existence results for positive $C^{2N}$-solutions of $(-Δ)^N u = u^{-(4N-1)}$ in $\mathbf R^{2N-1}$.

A note on radial solutions of $Δ^2 u + u^{-q} = 0$ in $\mathbb R^3$ with exactly quadratic growth at infinity

Of interest in this note is the following geometric interesting equation $Δ^2 u + u^{-q} = 0$ in $\mathbb R^3$. It was found by Choi-Xu (J. Differential Equations 246, 216-234) and McKenna-Reichel (Electron. J. Differential Equations 37 (2003)) that the condition $q>1$ is necessary and any radially symmetric solution grows at least linearly and at most quadratically at infinity for any $q>1$. In addition, when $q>3$ any radially symmetric solution is either exactly linear growth or exactly quadratic growth at infinity. Recently, Guerra (J. Differential Equations 253, 3147-3157) has shown that the equation always admits a unique radially symmetric solution of exactly given linear growth at infinity for any $q>3$ which is also necessary. In this note, by using the phase-space analysis, we show the existence of infinitely many radially symmetric solutions of exactly given quadratic growth at infinity for any $q>1$.

Sharp reversed Hardy-Littlewood-Sobolev inequality on $\mathbb R^n$

This is the first in our series of papers concerning some Hardy-Littlewood-Sobolev type inequalities. In the present paper, the main objective is to establish the following sharp reversed HLS inequality in the whole space $\mathbb R^n$ \[\int_{\mathbb R^n} \int_{\mathbb R^n} f(x) |x-y|^λg(y) dx dy \geqslant \mathscr C_{n,p,r} \|f\|_{L^p (\mathbb R^n)}\, \|g\|_{L^r (\mathbb R^n)}\] for any nonnegative functions $f\in L^p(\mathbb R^n)$, $g\in L^r(\mathbb R^n)$, and $p,r\in (0,1)$, $λ> 0$ such that $1/p + 1/r -λ/n =2$. We will also explore some estimates for $\mathscr C_{n,p,r}$ and the existence of optimal functions for the above inequality, which will shed light on some existing results in literature.

Sharp reversed Hardy--Littlewood--Sobolev inequality on the half space $\mathbb R_+^n$

This is the second in our series of papers concerning some reversed Hardy--Littlewood--Sobolev inequalities. In the present work, we establish the following sharp reversed Hardy--Littlewood--Sobolev inequality on the half space $\mathbb R_+^n$ \[ \int_{\mathbb R_+^n} \int_{\partial \mathbb R_+^n} f(x) |x-y|^λg(y) dx dy \geqslant \mathscr C_{n,p,r} \|f\|_{L^p(\partial \mathbb R_+^n)} \, \|g\|_{L^r(\mathbb R_+^n)} \] for any nonnegative functions $f\in L^p(\partial \mathbb R_+^n)$, $g\in L^r(\mathbb R_+^n)$, and $p,r\in (0,1)$, $λ> 0$ such that $(1-1/n)1/p + 1/r -(λ-1) /n =2$. Some estimates for $\mathscr C_{n,p,r}$ as well as the existence of extrema functions for this inequality are also considered. New ideas are also introduced in this paper.
