Global stability and asymptotic behavior for the incompressible MHD equations without viscosity or magnetic diffusion

Physical experiments and numerical simulations have revealed a remarkable stabilizing phenomenon: a background magnetic field stabilizes and dampens electrically conducting fluids. This paper provides a rigorous mathematical justification of this effect for the $n$-dimensional incompressible magnetohydrodynamic equations with partial diffusion on periodic domains. We establish the global stability and derive explicit decay rates for perturbations around an equilibrium magnetic field satisfying the Diophantine condition. Our results yield the \textit{effective decay rates in all intermediate Sobolev norms} and \textit{significantly relax the regularity requirements} on the initial data compared with previous works (\textit{Sci. China Math.} 41:1--10, 2022; \textit{J. Differ. Equ.} 374:267--278, 2023; \textit{Calc. Var. Partial Differ. Equ.} 63:191, 2024). Furthermore, the analytical framework developed here is dimension-independent and can be flexibly adapted to other fluid models with partial dissipation.

Optimal decay for the full compressible Navier-Stokes system in critical $L^p$ Besov spaces

Danchin and He (Math. Ann. 64: 1-38, 2016) recently established the global existence in critical $L^p$-type regularity framework for the $N$-dimensional $(N\geq 3)$ non-isentropic compressible Navier-Stokes equations. The purpose of this paper is to further investigate the large time behavior of solutions constructed by them. More precisely, we prove that if the initial data at the low frequencies additionally belong to some Besov space $\dot{B}_{2,\infty}^{-σ_1}$ with $σ_1\in (2-N/2, 2N/p-N/2]$, then the $\dot{B}_{p,1}^s$ norm of the critical global solutions exhibits the optimal decay $(1+t)^{-\frac{N}{2}(\frac{1}{2}-\frac{1}{p})-\frac{s+σ_1}{2}}$ for suitable $p$ and $s$. The main tool we use is the pure energy argument without the spectral analysis, which enables us to \emph{remove the smallness assumption} of initial data at the low-frequency.

Large time behavior in critical $L^p$ Besov spaces for compressible viscoelastic flows

We consider the large time behavior of global strong solutions to the compressible viscoelastic flows on the whole space $\mathbb{R}^N\,(N\geq 2)$, where the system describes the elastic properties of the compressible fluid. Adding a suitable initial condition involving only the low-frequency, we prove optimal time decay estimates for the global solutions in the $L^p$ critical regularity framework, which are similar to those of the compressible Navier-Stokes equations. Our results rely on the pure energy argument, which allows us to remove the usual smallness assumption of the data in the low-frequency.

Optimal decay for the compressible MHD equations in the critical regularity framework

In this paper, we study the large time behavior of solutions to the compressible magnetohydrodynamic equations in the $L^p$-type critical Besov spaces. Precisely, we show that if the initial data in the low frequencies additionally belong to some Besov space $\dot{B}_{2,\infty}^{-σ_1}$ with $σ_1\in (1-N/2, 2N/p-N/2]$, then the $\dot{B}_{p,1}^0$ norm of the critical global solutions presents the optimal decay $t^{-\frac{N}{2}(\frac{1}{2}-\frac{1}{p})-\frac{σ_1}{2}}$ for $t\rightarrow+\infty$. The pure energy argument without the spectral analysis is performed, which allows us to remove the usual smallness assumption of low frequencies.

Global existence and incompressible limit in critical spaces for compressible flow of liquid crystals

The Cauchy problem for the compressible flow of nematic liquid crystals in the framework of critical spaces is considered. We first establish the existence and uniqueness of global solutions provided that the initial data are close to some equilibrium states. This result improves the work by Hu and Wu [SIAM J. Math. Anal., 45 (2013), pp. 2678-2699] through relaxing the regularity requirement of the initial data in terms of the director field. We then consider the incompressible limit problem for ill prepared initial data. We prove that as the Mach number tends to zero, the global solution to the compressible flow of liquid crystals converges to the solution to the corresponding incompressible model in some function spaces. Moreover, the accurate converge rates are obtained.

Regularity criteria for the 3D MHD equations in term of velocity

In this paper we consider three-dimensional incompressible magnetohydrodynamics equations. By using interpolation inequalities in anisotropic Lebesgue space, we provide regularity criteria involving the velocity or alternatively involving the fractional derivative of velocity in one direction, which generalize some known results.
