Charmed Mesic Nuclei: Bound D and $\bar{D}$ states with ^{208}Pb

We show that the D^- meson will form narrow bound states with ^{208}Pb. Mean field potentials for the D^0, D^0-bar and D^- in ^{208}Pb are calculated self-consistently using the quark-meson coupling (QMC) model in local density approximation. The meson-^{208}Pb bound state energies are then calculated by solving the Klein-Gordon equation with these potentials. The experimental confirmation and comparison with the D^0-bar and D^0 will provide distinctive information on the nature of the interaction between the charmed meson and matter.

Coulomb plus Nuclear Scattering in Momentum Space for Coupled Angular-Momentum States

The Vincent--Phatak procedure for solving the momentum-space Schrodinger equation with combined Coulomb-plus-short-range potentials is extended to angular momentum states coupled by an optical potential---as occurs in spin 1/2 times 1/2 scattering. A generalization of the Blatt--Biedenharn phase shift parameterization is derived and applied to 500 MeV polarized-proton scattering from He3 and C13. The requisite high-precision partial-wave expansions and integrations are described.

Angular Momentum Analysis of Spin 1/2 x 1/2 Scattering including Singlet-Triplet Mixing

The angular momentum (partial wave) reduction of the Lippmann--Schwinger equation describing the interaction of two spin 1/2 particles is extended to the case in which the spin singlet and triplet states are coupled. A straight forward method for obtaining the angular momentum decomposition of the general potential is indicated. The derived formalism is needed to describe the interaction between two nonidentical spin--1/2 particles or between two nucleons when isospin symmetry is violated. The resulting modification of the Stapp phase--shift analysis is given.
