The Landau Pole and $Z^{\prime}$ decays in the 331 bilepton model

We calculate the decay widths and branching ratios of the extra neutral boson $Z^{\prime}$ predicted by the 331 bilepton model in the framework of two different particle contents. These calculations are performed taken into account oblique radiative corrections, and Flavor Changing Neutral Currents (FCNC) under the ansatz of Matsuda as a texture for the quark mass matrices. Contributions of the order of $10^{-1}-10^{-2}$ are obtained in the branching ratios, and partial widths about one order of magnitude bigger in relation with other non- and bilepton models are also obtained. A Landau-like pole arise at 3.5 TeV considering the full particle content of the minimal model (MM), where the exotic sector is considered as a degenerated spectrum at 3 TeV scale. The Landau pole problem can be avoid at the TeV scales if a new leptonic content running below the threshold at $% 3 $ TeV is implemented as suggested by other authors.

B -> X_s γand B^+ -> l^+ νin the 2HDM type III

We consider the Two Higgs Doublet Model (2HDM) of type III which leads to Flavour Changing Neutral Currents (FCNC) at tree level. In the framework of this model we calculate the NLO contribution for b->s γand the branchings for the meson decays B^+ -> l^+ ν. We examine the limits on the new parameters λ_{bb} and M_{H^\pm}. We take into account the relationship between λ_{tt} and λ_{bb} coming from the validness of perturbation theory.

New Physics effects in the flavor-changing neutral couplings of the Top quark

We survey the flavor-changing neutral couplings (FCNC) of the top quark predicted by some extensions of the Standard Model: THDM, SUSY, L-R symmetric, TC2, 331, and models with extra quarks. Since the expected sensitivity of the LHC and ILC for the tcV (V=γ,g,Z) and tcH couplings is of order of a few percent, we emphasize the importance of any new physics effect that gives a prediction for these FCNC couplings within this limit. We also review the constraints imposed on these couplings from low-energy precision measurements.

Z and Z' decays with and without FCNC in 331 models

In the context of the 331 models, we consider constraints on the extra neutral boson $Z^{\prime}$ predicted by the model, where three different quark family assignments are identified. Using the ansatz of Matsuda as an specific texture for the quark mass matrices, we obtain allowed regions associated with the Z-Z' mixing angle, the mass of the $Z^{\prime}$ boson and the parameter $β$ which determines different 331 models. The $Z_{1}$ and $Z_{2}$ decays with and without flavor changing are also considered. The flavor changing decays of the $Z_{1}$ boson into quarks at tree level are highly suppressed by the $Z-Z^{\prime}$ mixing angle, obtaining the same order of magnitude as the standard model prediction at one loop level. The $% Z_{2}$ decay widths are calculated with and without flavor changing, where oblique radiative corrections at one loop accounts for about $1%-4%$ deviations.

Moments of inertia for solids of revolution and variational methods

We present some formulae for the moments of inertia of homogeneous solids of revolution in terms of the functions that generate the solids. The development of these expressions exploits the cylindrical symmetry of these objects, and avoids the explicit use of multiple integration, providing an easy and pedagogical approach. The explicit use of the functions that generate the solid gives the possibility of writing the moment of inertia as a functional, which in turn allows us to utilize the calculus of variations to obtain a new insight into some properties of this fundamental quantity. In particular, minimization of moments of inertia under certain restrictions is possible by using variational methods.

Improving bounds on flavor changing vertices in the two Higgs doublet model from $B-\bar{B}$ mixing

We find some constraints on the flavor changing vertices of the two Higgs doublet model, from the ΔM_{B_{d}} measurement. Although bounds from this observable have already been considered, this paper takes into account the role of a new operator not included previously, as well as the vertices ξ_{bb}, ξ_{tc} and ξ_{sb}. Using the Cheng-Sher parametrization, we found that for a relatively light charged Higgs boson (200-300 GeV), we get that λ_{tt}<1, while the parameter λ_{bb} could have values up to about 50. In addition, we use bounds for λ_{tt} and λ_{bb} obtained from B^{0}->X_{s}γat next to leading order, and studied the case where the only vanishing vertex factors are the ones involving quarks from the first family. We obtained that ΔM_{B_{d}} is not sensitive to the change of the parameter λ_{sb}, while λ_{tc}<1

Reparameterization of the scalar potential in the two Higgs doublet model

In the two Higgs doublet model with no additional symmetries in the scalar sector (different from the gauge and Lorentz symmetries), it is customary to reparameterize the model by rotating the scalar doublets such that one of the vacuum expectation values vanishes. It is well known that the Yukawa sector of the model is unaffected by such transformation. Notwithstanding, since the Higgs potential must also be transformed, it is necessary to show that such sector is also unaltered in its physical content. We demostrate that the physical content of the potential is invariant even when the charge conjugation symmetry is demanded.

Z-Z' mixing in SU(3)_C X SU(3)_L X U(1)_X models with beta arbitrary

We perform a chi ^{2} fit at 95% CL to obtain model-dependent bounds to Z-Z' mixing angle theta and Z_2-mass in the framework of SU(3)_C X SU(3)_L X U(1)_X models with beta arbitrary. Using experimental results at the Z-pole and atomic parity violation, we obtain allowed regions according to the value of beta and depending on the assignment of the quark families in mass eigenstates into the three different families in weak eigenstates that cancel anomalies.

331 vector-like models with mirror fermions as a possible solution for the discrepancy in the b-quark asymmetries, and for the neutrino mass and mixing pattern

A general study of the fermionic structure of the 331 models with βarbitrary shows the possibility of obtaining 331 vector-like models with mirror fermions. On one hand, the existence of mirror fermions gives a possible way to fit the discrepancy in the bottom quark asymmetries from the prediction of the standard model. On the other hand, the vector-like nature of the model permits to address the problem of the fermion mass hierarchy, and in particular the problem of the neutrino mass and mixing pattern. Specifically, we consider a model with four families and β=-1/\sqrt{3} where the additional family corresponds to a mirror fermion of the third generation of the Standard Model. We also show how to generate ansatzs about the mass matrices of the fermions according to the phenomenology. In particular, it is possible to get a natural fit for the neutrino hierarchical masses and mixing angles. Moreover, by means of the mixing between the third quark family and its mirror fermion, a possible solution for the A_{FB}^{b} discrepancy is obtained.

SU(3)_{c} X SU(3)_{L} X U(1)_{X} models for βarbitrary and families with mirror fermions

A detailed and general study of the fermionic structure of the 331 models with βarbitrary is carried out based on the criterion of cancellation of anomalies. We consider models with an arbitrary number of lepton and quark generations, but requiring to associate only one lepton and one quark SU(3) _{L} multiplet for each generation, and at most one right-handed singlet per each left-handed fermion. We see that the number of quark left-handed multiplets must be three times the number of leptonic left-handed multiplets. Furthermore, we consider a model with four families and β=-1/\sqrt{3} where the additional family corresponds to a mirror fermion of the third generation of the Standard Model.

Using symmetries and generating functions to calculate and minimize moments of inertia

This paper presents some formulae to calculate moments of inertia for solids of revolution and for solids generated by contour plots. For this, the symmetry properties and the generating functions of the figures are utilized. The combined use of generating functions and symmetry properties greatly simplifies many practical calculations. In addition, the explicit use of generating functions gives the possibility of writing the moment of inertia as a functional, which in turn allows to utilize the calculus of variations to obtain a new insight about some properties of this fundamental quantity. In particular, minimization of moments of inertia under certain restrictions is possible by using variational methods.

Higgs boson decay in the large N limit

The Equivalence Theorem is commonly used to calculate perturbatively amplitudes involving gauge bosons at energy scales higher than gauge boson masses. However, when the scalar sector is strongly interacting the theory is non-perturbative. We show that the Equivalence Theorem holds in the large N limit at next-to-leading order by calculating the decay widths h -> W^{+}W^{-} and h->π^{+}π^{-}. We also show, in the same scheme of calculations, that unitarity is fulfilled for the process h->π^{+}π^{-}.

Bilepton and exotic quark mass limits in 331 models from Z -> b anti-b decay

We study the effect of new physics on the Z-decay into b anti-b pairs in the framework of 331 models. The decay Z -> b anti-b is computed at one loop level and, using previous results, we evaluate this branching fraction in the framework of 331 models. A wide range of the space parameter of the model is considered and possible deviations from the standard model predictions are explored. From precision measurements at the Z-pole we find the allowed region for MJ3, MX at 95 % CL.

The lightest Higgs boson production at photon colliders in the 2HDM-III

The branching ratios of the lightest CP-even Higgs boson $h^0$, in the framework of the General Two Higgs Doublet Model are calculated. Different scenarios are presented taking into account constraints obtained in previous works on the flavor changing neutral currents factors. Plausible scenarios with flavour changing processes at tree level like $b \bar s$ and $t \bar c$ are analyzed for relevant region of parameters. The loop-induced Higgs couplings to photon pairs can be tested with a photon collider. The number of events of $h^0$ as a resonance in photon colliders are calculated taking into account its corresponding background signal in TESLA, CLIC and NLC.

Constraints on top quark FCNC from electroweak precision measurements

We study the one-loop contributions of the effective flavor changing neutral couplings (FCNC) tcZ and tcH on the electroweak precision observables Gamma_Z, R_c, R_b, R_l, A_c and A^FB_c. Using the known experimental limits on these observables, we may place 95% CL bounds on these FCNC couplings which in turn translate into the following limits for the branching ratios: BR(t -> cZ) < 6.7 10^-2 and BR(t -> cH) < (0.09 - 2.9) 10^-3 for 114 < m_H < 170 GeV.

Concerning the Landau Pole in 3-3-1 Models

Some 3-3-1 models predict the existence of a non-perturbative regime at the TeV scale. We study in these models, and their supersymmetric extensions, the energy at which the non-perturbative limit and a Landau-like pole arise. An order of magnitude for the mass of the extra neutral vector boson, $Z^\prime$, present in these models is also obtained.

Flavor changing neutral currents from lepton and B decays in the two Higgs doublet model

Constraints on the whole spectrum of lepton flavor violating vertices are shown in the context of the standard two Higgs doublet model. The vertex involving the $e-τ$ mixing is much more constrained than the others, and the decays proportional to such vertex are usually very supressed. On the other hand, bounds on the quark sector are obtained from leptonic decays of the $B_{d,s}^{0}$ mesons and from $ΔM_{B_{d}^{0}}$. We emphasize that although the $B_{d}^{0}-\bar{B}_{d}^{0}$ mixing restricts severely the $% d-b$ mixing vertex, the upper bound for this vertex could still give a sizeable contribution to the decay $B_{d}^{0}\to μ\barμ$ respect to the standard model contribution, from which we see that such vertex could still play a role in the phenomenology.
