Cosmological implications of Higgs field fluctuations during inflation

Cosmological implications of Higgs field fluctuations during inflation are considered. This study is based on the Standard Model and the standard quadratic model of chaotic inflation where the Higgs field is minimally coupled to gravity and has no direct coupling to the inflaton. In the Standard model the renormalisation group improved effective potential develops an instability (an additional minimum and maximum) at large field values. It is shown that such a new maximum should take place at an energy scale above $10^{14} \;\text{GeV},$ otherwise a universe like ours is extremely unlikely. The extension to the case of the Higgs field interacting with the inflaton field is discussed.

Diversity of universes created by pure gravity

We show that a number of problems of modern cosmology may be solved in the framework of multidimensional gravity with high-order curvature invariants, without invoking other fields. We use a method employing a slow-change approximation, able to work with rather a general form of the gravitational action, and consider Kaluza-Klein type space-times with one or several extra factor spaces. A vast choice of effective theories suggested by the present framework may be stressed: even if the initial Lagrangian is entirely fixed, one obtains quite different models for different numbers, dimensions and topologies of the extra factor spaces. As examples of problems addressed we consider (i) explanation of the present accelerated expansion of the Universe, with a reasonably small cosmological constant, and the problem of its fine tuning is considered from a new point of view; (ii) the mechanism of closed wall production in the early Universe; such walls are necessary for massive primordial black hole formation which is an important stage in some scenarios of cosmic structure formation; (iii) sufficient particle production rate at the end of inflation; (iv) it is shown that our Universe may contain spatial domains with a macroscopic size of extra dimensions. We also discuss chaotic attractors appearing at possible nodes of the kinetic term of the effective scalar field Lagrangian.

May Heavy hadrons of the 4th generation be hidden in our Universe while close to detection?

Metastable quarks of 4th generation are predicted in the framework of heterotic string phenomenology. Their presence in heavy stable hadrons are usually strongly constrained; however their hidden compositions in Heavy doubly charged baryons here considered are found to be still allowable: we studied their primordial quark production in the early Universe, their freezing into cosmic Heavy hadrons, their later annihilation into cosmic ray as well as their relic presence in our Universe and among us on Earth. We discuss also their possible production in present or future accelerators. Indeed if the lightest quarks and antiquarks of the 4th generation are stored in doubly charged baryons and neutral mesons, their lifetime can exceed the age of the Universe; the existence of such an anomalous Helium-like (and neutral Pion-like) stable particles may escape present experimental limits, while being close to present and future experimental test. On the contrary primordial abundance of lightest hadrons of the 4th generation with charge +1 can not decrease below the experimental upper limits on anomalous hydrogen and therefore (if stable) it is excluded. While 4th quark hadrons are rare, their presence may play different and surprising role in cosmic rays, muon and neutrino fluxes and cosmic electromagnetic spectra. Most of these traces are tiny, but just nearly detectable.

May Heavy neutrinos solve underground and cosmic ray puzzles?

Primordial Heavy neutrinos of 4th generation might explain different astrophysical puzzles: indeed the simplest 4th neutrino scenario may be still consistent with known 4th neutrino physics, cosmic ray anti-matter and gamma fluxes and signals in underground detectors for a very narrow neutrino mass windows (46-47 GeV). We have analyzed extended Heavy neutrino models related to the clumpiness of neutrino density, new interactions in Heavy neutrino annihilation, neutrino asymmetry, neutrino decay. We found that in these models the underground signals maybe better combined with the cosmic ray imprint leading to a wider windows for neutrino mass (46-75 GeV) coinciding with the whole range allowed from uncertainties of electro-weak parameters.

Shadows of Relic Neutrino Masses and Spectra on Highest Energy GZK Cosmic Rays

The Ultra High Energy (UHE) neutrino scattering onto relic cosmic neutrinos in galactic and local halos offers an unique way to overcome GZK cut-off. The UHE nu secondary of UHE photo-pion decays may escape the GZK cut-off and travel on cosmic distances hitting local light relic neutrinos clustered in dark halos. The Z resonant production and the competitive W^+W^-, ZZ pair production define a characteristic imprint on hadronic consequent UHECR spectra. This imprint keeps memory both of the primary UHE nu spectra as well as of the possible relic neutrino masses values, energy spectra and relic densities. Such an hadronic showering imprint should reflect into spectra morphology of cosmic rays near and above GZK 10^{19}-10^{21}eV cut-off energies. A possible neutrino degenerate masses at eVs or a more complex and significant neutrino mass split below or near Super-Kamiokande \triangle m_{ν_{SK}}= 0.1 eV masses might be reflected after each corresponding Z peak showering, into new twin unexpected UHECR flux modulation behind GZK energies: E_{p} sim 3(frac{triangle m_{ν_{SK}}}/m_ν10^{21}),eV. Other shadowsof lightest, nearly massless, neutrinos m_{nu_{2K} simeq 0.001eV simeq kT_ν, their lowest relic temperatures, energies and densities might be also reflected at even higher energies edges near Grand Unification: E_{p} \sim 2.2(m_{ν_{2K}/E_ν})10^{23}, eV .

Possible Signature of Low Scale Gravity in Ultra High Enegry Cosmic Rays

We show that the existence of low scale gravity at TeV scale could lead to a direct production of photons with energies above 10^22 eV due to annihilation of ultra high energy neutrinos on relic massive neutrinos of the galactic halo. Air showers initialized in the terrestrial atmosphere by these ultra energetic photons could be collected in near future by the new generation of cosmic ray experiments.

First Order Phase Transitions as a Source of Black Holes in the Early Universe

A new mechanism of black hole formation in a first order phase transition is proposed. In vacuum bubble collisions the interaction of bubble walls leads to the formation of nontrivial vacuum configuration. The consequent collapse of this vacuum configuration induces the black hole formation with high probability. The primordial black holes that have been created by this way at the end of first order inflation could give essential contribution into the total density of the early Universe. The possibilities to establish some nontrivial restrictions on the inflation models with first order phase transition are discussed.

Possible Effects of the Existence of the 4th Generation Neutrino

The 4th generation of fermions predicted by the phenomenology of heterotic string models can possess new strictly conserved charge, which leads, in particular, to the hypothesis of the existence of the 4th generation massive stable neutrino. The compatibility of this hypothesis with the results of underground experiment DAMA searching for weakly interactive particles of dark matter and with the EGRET measurements of galactic gamma--background at energies above 1 GeV fixes the possible mass of the 4th neutrino at the value about 50 GeV. The possibility to test the hypothesis in accelerator experiments is considered. Positron signal from the annihilation of relic massive neutrinos in the galactic halo is calculated and is shown to be accessible for planned cosmic ray experiments.

AMS-Shuttle test for antimatter stars in our Galaxy

The AMS--Shuttle experiment is shown to be sensitive to test the hypothesis on the existence of antimatter globular cluster in our Galaxy. The hypothesis follows from the analysis of possible tests for the mechanisms of baryosynthesis and uses antimatter domains in the matter dominated Universe as the probe for the physics underlying the origin of the matter. The total mass for the antimatter objects in our Galaxy is fixed from the below by the condition of antimatter domain survival in the matter dominated Universe and from above by the observed gamma ray flux. For this mass interval the expected fluxes of antinuclei can lead to up to ten antihelium events in the AMS-Shuttle experiment.

Physical Origin, Evolution and Observational Signature of Diffused Antiworld

The existence of macroscopic regions with antibaryon excess in the baryon asymmetric Universe with general baryon excess is the possible consequence of practically all models of baryosynthesis. Diffusion of matter and antimatter to the border of antimatter domains defines the minimal scale of the antimatter domains surviving to the present time. A model of diffused antiworld is considered, in which the density within the surviving antimatter domains is too low to form gravitationally bound objects. The possibility to test this model by measurements of cosmic gamma ray fluxes is discussed. The expected gamma ray flux is found to be acceptable for modern cosmic gamma ray detectors and for those planned for the near future.

Signature of relic heavy stable neutrinos in underground experiments

Considering heavy stable neutrinos of 4th generation we calculate the relic density of such neutrinos in the Universe. Taking into account the condensation of heavy neutrinos in the Galaxy and applying the results of calculations to experimental data from underground experiments on search for WIMPs in elastic neutral current scattering on nuclei we found an exclusion region of neutrino mass 60 GeV < m < 290 GeV. The bounds obtained from present underground experiments while confirming the previous bounds derived from analysis of cosmic ray spectra are more relible ones. We discuss also the first indication of elastic scattering induced by WIMP in DAMA experiment finding a very narrow window of neutrino mass 45 GeV < m < 50 GeV compatible with the possible signal rate in the detector.

Formation of Black Holes in First Order Phase Transitions

A new mechanism of black hole formation in a first order phase transition is proposed. In vacuum bubble collisions the interaction of bubble walls leads to the formation of nontrivial vacuum configuration. The consequent collapse of this vacuum configuration induces the black hole formation with high probability. Observational constraints on the spectrum of primordial black holes allow to obtain new nontrivial restrictions on parameters of inflation models with first order phase transitions.

Antihelium flux signature for antimatter globular cluster in our Galaxy

The AMS experiment is shown to be sensitive to test the hypothesis on the existence of antimatter globular cluster in our Galaxy. The hypothesis follows from the analysis of possible tests for the mechanisms of baryosynthesis and uses antimatter domains in the matter dominated Universe as the probe for the physics underlying the origin of the matter. The interval of masses for the antimatter in our Galaxy is fixed from below by the condition of antimatter domain survival in the matter dominated Universe and from above by the observed gamma ray flux. For this interval the expected fluxes of antihelium-3 and antihelium-4 are calculated with the account for their interaction with the matter in the Galaxy.

Cosmic Ray Constraints On the Annihilation of Heavy Stable Neutrinos in the Galactic Halo

We carry out a detailed analysis of fluxes of cosmic ray antiprotons, positrons, electrons and photons to be expected from the annihilation of relic heavy neutrinos in the galactic halo. The spectra of particles are evaluated by Monte Carlo simulation. The results of calculations show that the investigation of cosmic ray positron spectra at high energies could provide a distinctive signal for annihilation of very heavy neutrinos in the Galaxy and give an important information on parameters of dark matter particles.

Inverse Compton Scattering on laser beam and monochromatic isotropic radiation

Most of the known literature on Inverse Compton Scattering (ICS) is based on earliest theoretical attempts and later approximations led by F.C.Jones and J.B.Blumenthal. We found an independent and more general analytical procedure which provide both relativistic and ultrarelativistic limits for ICS. These new analytical expressions can be derived in a straightforward way and they contain the previously reminded Jones' results. Our detailed solutions may be probed by already existing as well future ICS experiments.
