Monitored non-adiabatic and coherent-controlled quantum unital Otto heat engines: First four cumulants

Recently, measurement-based quantum thermal machines have drawn more attention in the field of quantum thermodynamics. However, the previous results on quantum Otto heat engines were either limited to special unital and non-unital channels in the bath stages, or a specific driving protocol at the work strokes and assuming the cycle being time-reversal symmetric i.e. $V^{\dagger}=U$ (or $V=U$). In this paper, we consider a single spin-1/2 quantum Otto heat engine, by first replacing one of the heat baths by an arbitrary unital channel and then we give the exact analytical expression of the characteristic function from which all the cumulants of heat and work emerge. We prove that under the effect of monitoring, $ν_{2}>ν_{1}$ is a necessary condition for positive work, either for a symmetric or asymmetric-driven Otto cycle. Furthermore, going beyond the average we show that the ratio of the fluctuations of work and heat is lower and upper-bounded when the system is working as a heat engine. However, differently from the previous results in the literature, we consider the third and fourth cumulants as well. It is shown that the ratio of the third (fourth) cumulants of work and heat is not upper-bounded by unity nor lower-bounded by the third (fourth) power of the efficiency, as is the case for the ratio of fluctuations. Finally, we consider applying a specific unital map that plays the role of a heat bath in a coherently superposed, manner and we show the role of the initial coherence of the control qubit on efficiency, on the average work and its relative fluctuations.

Bidirectional quantum teleportation of even and odd coherent states through the multipartite Glauber coherent state: Theory and implementation

Quantum teleportation has become a fundamental building block of quantum technologies, playing a vital role in the development of quantum communication networks. Here, we present a bidirectional quantum teleportation (BQT) protocol that enables even and odd coherent states to be transmitted and reconstructed over arbitrary distances in two directions. To this end, we employ the multipartite Glauber coherent state, comprising the Greenberger-Horne-Zeilinger, ground and Werner states, as a quantum resource linking distant partners Alice and Bob. The pairwise entanglement existing in symmetric and antisymmetric multipartite coherent states is explored, and by controlling the overlap and number of probes constructing various types of quantum channels, the teleportation efficiency of teleported states in both directions may be maximized. Besides, Alice's and Bob's trigger phases are estimated to explore their roles in our protocol using two kinds of quantum statistical speed referred to as quantum Fisher information (QFI) and Hilbert-Schmidt speed (HSS). Specifically, we show that the lower bound of the statistical estimation error, quantified by QFI and HSS, corresponds to the highest fidelity from Alice to Bob and conversely from Bob to Alice, and that the choice of the pre-shared quantum channel has a critical role in achieving high BQT efficiency. Finally, we show how to implement the suggested scheme on current experimental tools, where Alice can transfer her even coherent state to Bob, and at the same time, Bob can transfer his odd coherent state to Alice.

Quantum teleportation and dynamics of quantum coherence and metrological non-classical correlations for open two-qubit systems: A study of Markovian and non-Markovian regimes

We investigate the dynamics of non-classical correlations and quantum coherence in open quantum systems by employing metrics like local quantum Fisher information, local quantum uncertainty, and quantum Jensen-Shannon divergence. Our focus here is on a system of two qubits in two distinct physical situations: the first one when the two qubits are coupled to a single-mode cavity, while the second consists of two qubits immersed in dephasing reservoirs. Our study places significant emphasis on how the evolution of these quantum criterion is influenced by the initial state's purity (whether pure or mixed) and the nature of the environment (whether Markovian or non-Markovian). We observe that a decrease in the initial state's purity corresponds to a reduction in both quantum correlations and quantum coherence, whereas higher purity enhances these quantumness. Furthermore, we establish a quantum teleportation strategy based on the two different physical scenarios. In this approach, the resulting state of the two qubits functions as a quantum channel integrated into a quantum teleportation protocol. We also analyze how the purity of the initial state and the Markovian or non-Markovian regimes impact the quantum teleportation process.

Interferometric phase estimation and quantum resources dynamics in Bell coherent-states superpositions generated via a unitary beam splitter

Beam splitters are optical elements widely used in modern technological applications to split the initial light beam into a required number of beams and they play a very promising role for generating entangled optical states. Here, a potential scheme is proposed to generate Bell coherent-states superpositions through the action of a beam splitter when a Glauber coherent state is injected on one input mode and vacuum state is incident on the other one. Different quantifiers are used to measure the quantumness in the output state such as concurrence entanglement, entropic quantum discord, quantum coherence, geometric measure of quantum discord, local quantum uncertainty (LQU) and local quantum Fisher information. Thereby, we derive their analytical formulas and focus more on the behavior and bounds of each measure. Besides, we have introduced the notion of "weak measurement-induced LQU" captured by weak measurements as the generalization of normal LQU defined for standard projective measurement, and we investigate the effect of the measurement strength on the estimated phase enhancement if the generated Bell cat states are the probe states in quantum metrology. Our results suggest that the sensitivity of the interferometric phase estimation depends on how strongly one perturbs the probe state and that a weak measurement does not necessarily capture more quantumness in composite system.

Estimating phase parameters of a three-level system interacting with two classical monochromatic fields in simultaneous and individual metrological strategies

Recently, the Hilbert-Schmidt speed, as a special class of quantum statistical speed, has been reported to improve the interferometric phase in single-parameter quantum estimation. Here, we test this concept in the multiparameter scenario where two laser phases are estimated in a theoretical model consisting of a three-level atom interacting with two classical monochromatic fields. When the atom is initially prepared in the lower bare state taking into account the detuning parameters, we extract an exact analytical solution of the atomic density matrix in the case of two-photon resonant transition. Further, we compare the performance of laser phase parameters estimation in individual and simultaneous metrological strategies, and we explore the role of quantum coherence in improving the efficiency of unknown multi-phase shift estimation protocols. The obtained results show that the Hilbert-Schmidt speed detects the lower bound on the statistical estimation error as well as the optimal estimation regions, where its maximal corresponds to the maximal quantum Fisher information, the performance of simultaneous multiparameter estimation with individual estimation inevitably depends on the detuning parameters of the three-level atom, and not only the quantum entanglement, but also the quantum coherence is a crucial resource to improve the accuracy of a metrological protocol.

A simple analytical expression of quantum Fisher and Skew information and their dynamics under decoherence channels

In statistical estimation theory, it has been shown previously that the Wigner-Yanase skew information is bounded by the quantum Fisher information associated with the phase parameter. Besides, the quantum Cramér-Rao inequality is expressed in terms of skew information. Since these two fundamental quantities are based on the concept of quantum uncertainty, we derive here their analytical formulas for arbitrary two qubit $X$-states using the same analytical procedures. A comparison of these two informational quantifiers for two quasi-Werner states composed of two bipartite superposed coherent states is examined. Moreover, we investigated the decoherence effects on such quantities generated by the phase damping, depolarization and amplitude damping channels. We showed that decoherence strongly influences the quantum criteria during the evolution and these quantities exhibit similar dynamic behaviors. This current work is characterized by the fact that these two concepts play the same role and capture similar properties in quantum estimation protocols.

Analytical techniques in single and multi-parameter quantum estimation theory: a focused review

As we enter the era of quantum technologies, quantum estimation theory provides an operationally motivating framework for determining high precision devices in modern technological applications. The aim of any estimation process is to extract information from an unknown parameter embedded in a physical system such as the estimation converges to the true value of the parameter. According to the Cramér-Rao inequality in mathematical statistics, the Fisher information in the case of single-parameter estimation procedures, and the Fisher information matrix in the case of multi-parameter estimation, are the key quantities representing the ultimate precision of the parameters specifying a given statistical model. In quantum estimation strategies, it is usually difficult to derive the analytical expressions of such quantities in a given quantum state. This review provides comprehensive techniques on the analytical calculation of the quantum Fisher information as well as the quantum Fisher information matrix in various scenarios and via several methods. Furthermore, it provides a mathematical transition from classical to quantum estimation theory applied to many freedom quantum systems. To clarify these results, we examine these developments using some examples. Other challenges, including their links to quantum correlations and saturating the quantum Cramér-Rao bound, are also addressed.

The dynamic behaviors of local quantum uncertainty for three-qubit X states under decoherence channels

We derive the analytical expression of local quantum uncertainty for three-qubit X-states. We give also the expressions of quantum discord and the negativity. A comparison of these three quantum correlations quantifiers is discussed in the special cases of mixed GHZ states and Bell-type states. We find that local quantum uncertainty gives the same amount of non-classical correlations as are measured by entropic quantum discord and goes beyond negativity. We also discuss the dynamics of non-classical correlations under the effect of phase damping, depolarizing and phase reversal channels. We find the local quantum uncertainty shows more robustness and exhibits, under phase reversal effect, revival and frozen phenomena. The monogamy property of local quantum uncertainty is also discussed. It is shown that it is monogamous for three-qubit states.

The dynamics of local quantum uncertainty and trace distance discord for two-qubit X states under decoherence: a comparative study

We employ the concepts of local quantum uncertainty and geometric quantum discord based on the trace norm to investigate the environmental effects on quantum correlations of two bipartite quantum systems. The first one concerns a two-qubit system coupled with two independent bosonic reservoirs. We show that the trace discord exhibits frozen phenomenon contrarily to local quantum uncertainty. The second scenario deals with a two-level system, initially prepared in a separable state, interacting with a quantized electromagnetic radiation. Our results show that there exists an exchange of quantum correlations between the two-level system and its surrounding which is responsible for the revival phenomenon of non-classical correlations.

Controlling Stationary One-Way Steering via Thermal Effects in Optomechanics

Quantum steering is a kind of quantum correlations stronger than entanglement but weaker than Bell-nonlocality. In an optomechanical system pumped by squeezed light and driven in the red sideband, we study-under thermal effects-stationary Gaussian steering and its asymmetry of two mechanical modes. In the resolved sideband regime using experimentally feasible parameters, we show that Gaussian steering can be created by quantum fluctuations transfer from the squeezed light to the two mechanical modes. Moreover, one-way steering can be observed by controlling the squeezing degree or the environmental temperature. A comparative study between Gaussian steering and Gaussian Rényi-2 entanglement of the two considered modes shows on one hand that both steering and entanglement suffer from a sudden death-like phenomenon with early vanishing of steering in various circumstances. On the other hand, steering is found stronger than entanglement, however, remains constantly upper bounded by Gaussian Rényi-2 entanglement, and decays rapidly to zero under thermal noise.

Quantifying quantumness of correlations using Gaussian Rényi-2 entropy in optomechanical interfaces

Using the Gaussian Rényi-2 entropy, we analyse the behaviour of two different aspects of quantum correlations (entanglement and quantum discord) in two optomechanical subsystems (optical and mechanical). We work in the resolved sideband and weak coupling regimes. In experimentally accessible parameters, we show that it is possible to create entanglement and quantum discord in the considered subsystems by quantum fluctuations transfer from either light to light or light to matter. We find that both mechanical and optical entanglement are strongly sensitive to thermal noises. In particular, we find that the mechanical one is more affected by thermal effects than that optical. Finally, we reveal that under thermal noises, the discord associated with the entangled state decays aggressively, whereas the discord of the separable state (quantumness of correlations) exhibits a freezing behaviour, seeming to be captured over a wide range of temperature.

Dynamical Gaussian quantum steering in optomechanics

Einstein-Podolski-Rosen steering is a form of quantum correlation exhibiting an intrinsic asymmetry between two entangled systems. In this paper, we propose a scheme for examining dynamical Gaussian quantum steering of two mixed mechanical modes. For this, we use two spatially separated optomechanical cavities fed by squeezed light. We work in the resolved sideband regime. Limiting to the adiabatic regime, we show that it is possible to generate dynamical Gaussian steering via a quantum fluctuations transfer from squeezed light to the mechanical modes. By an appropriate choice of the environmental parameters, one-way steering can be observed in different scenarios. Finally, comparing with entanglement - quantified by the Gaussian Rényi-2 entropy-, we show that Gaussian steering is strongly sensitive to the thermal effects and always upper bounded by entanglement degree.

On Local F-theory Geometries and Intersecting D7-branes

We discuss local F-theory geometries and theirs gauge theory dualities in terms of intersecting D7-branes wrapped four-cycles in Type IIB superstring. The manifolds are built as elliptic K3 surface fibrations over intersecting F_0=CP^1 \times CP^1 base geometry according to ADE Dynkin Diagrams. The base is obtained by blowing up the extended ADE hyper-Kahler singularities of eight dimensional manifolds considered as sigma model target spaces with eight supercharges. The resulting gauge theory of such local F-theory models are given in terms of Type IIB D7-branes wrapped intersecting F_0. The four dimensional N=1 anomaly cancelation requirement translates into a condition on the associated affine Lie algebras.

On F-theory Quiver Models and Kac-Moody Algebras

We discuss quiver gauge models with bi-fundamental and fundamental matter obtained from F-theory compactified on ALE spaces over a four dimensional base space. We focus on the base geometry which consists of intersecting F0=CP1xCP1 Hirzebruch complex surfaces arranged as Dynkin graphs classified by three kinds of Kac-Moody (KM) algebras: ordinary, i.e finite dimensional, affine and indefinite, in particular hyperbolic. We interpret the equations defining these three classes of generalized Lie algebras as the anomaly cancelation condition of the corresponding N =1 F-theory quivers in four dimensions. We analyze in some detail hyperbolic geometries obtained from the affine A base geometry by adding a node, and we find that it can be used to incorporate fundamental fields to a product of SU-type gauge groups and fields.

Extremal Black Brane Attractors on The Elliptic Curve

Reconsidering the analysis of the moduli space of N=2 eight dimensional supergravity coupled to seven scalars, we propose a new scalar manifold factorization given by \frac{\textsc {SO(2,2)}}{\textsc{SO(2)}\times {\textsc{SO(2)}}}\times \frac{\textsc{SO(2,1)}}{\textsc{SO(2)}}\times \textsc {SO(1,1)}. This factorization is supported by the appearance of three solutions of Type IIA extremal black p-branes (p=0,1,2) with AdS_{p+2}\times S^{6-p} near-horizon geometries in eight dimensions. We analyze the corresponding attractor mechanism. In particular, we give an interplay between the scalar manifold factors and the extremal black p-brane charges. Then we show that the dilaton can be stabilized by the dyonic black 2-brane charges.

D-string fluid in conifold: II. Matrix model for D-droplets on S^{3} and S^{2}

Motivated by similarities between Fractional Quantum Hall (FQH) systems and aspects of topological string theory on conifold, we continue in the present paper our previous study (hep-th/0604001, hep-th/0601020) concerning FQH droplets on conifold. Here we focus our attention on the conifold sub-varieties $\mathbb{S}^{3}$\textbf{\}and\textbf{\}$\mathbb{S}^{2}$ and study the non commutative quantum dynamics of D1 branes wrapped on a circle. We give a matrix model proposal for FQH droplets of $N$ point like particles on $\mathbb{S}^{3}$\textbf{\}and\textbf{\}$\mathbb{S}^{2}$ with filling fraction $ν=\frac{1}{k}$. We show that the ground state of droplets on $% \mathbb{S}^{3}$ carries an isospin $j=k\frac{N(N-1)}{2}$ and gives remarkably rise to $2j+1$ droplets on $\mathbb{S}^{2}$ with Cartan-Weyl charge $| j_{z}| \leq j$.

D-string fluid in conifold: I. Topological gauge model

Motivated by similarities between quantum Hall systems à la Susskind and aspects of topological string theory on conifold as well as results obtained in hep-th/0601020, we study the dynamics of D-string fluids running in deformed conifold in presence of a strong and constant RR background B-field. We first introduce the basis of D-string system in fluid approximation and then derive the holomorphic non commutative gauge invariant field action describing its dynamics in conifold. This study may be also viewed as embedding Susskind description for Laughlin liquid in type IIB string theory. FQH systems on real manifolds $R\times S^{2}$ and $S^{3}$ are shown to be recovered by restricting conifold to its Lagrangian sub-manifolds. Aspects of quantum behaviour of the string fluid are discussed.
