Local inverse measure-theoretic entropy for endomorphisms

We introduce a new notion of local inverse metric entropy along backward trajectories for ergodic measures preserved by endomorphisms (non-invertible maps) on a compact metric space. A second notion of inverse measure entropy is defined by using measurable partitions. Our notions have several useful applications. Inverse entropy can distinguish between isomorphism classes of endomorphisms on Lebesgue spaces, when they have the same forward measure-theoretic entropy. In a general setting we prove that the local inverse entropy of an ergodic measure μis equal to the forward entropy minus the folding entropy. The inverse entropy of hyperbolic measures on compact manifolds is explored, focusing on their negative Lyapunov exponents. We compute next the inverse entropy of the inverse SRB measure on a hyperbolic repellor. We prove an entropy rigidity result for special Anosov endomorphisms of \mathbb T^2, namely that they can be classified up to smooth conjugacy by knowing the entropy of their SRB measure and the inverse entropy of their inverse SRB measure. Next we study the relations between our inverse measure-theoretic entropy and the generalized topological inverse entropy on subsets of prehistories. In general we establish a Partial Variational Principle for inverse entropy. We obtain also a Full Variational Principle for inverse entropy in the case of special TA-covering maps on tori. In the end, several examples of endomorphisms are studied, such as fat baker transformations, fat solenoidal attractors, special Anosov endomorphisms, toral endomorphisms, and the local inverse entropy is computed for their SRB measures.

On Krein-Milman theorem for the space of sofic representations

Denote by $Sof(G)$ the space of sofic representations of a countable group $G$. This space is known by a result of the second author, to have a convex-like structure. We show that, in this space, minimal faces are extreme points. We then construct uncountable many extreme points for $Sof(\mathbb{F}_2)$ and show that there exists a decreasing chain of closed faces with empty intersection. Finally we construct a strangely looking sofic representation in $Sof(\mathbb{F}_2)$ that we believe it is outside of the closure of the convex hull of extreme points.

The flow of weights of some factors arising as fixed point algebras

In this paper we study the associated flow of some factors arising as fixed point algebras under product type actions on ITPFI factors. We compute their associated flow and show that under certain conditions these flows are approximately transitive and consequently the corresponding fixed point factors are ITPFI.

Two special subgroups of the universal sofic group

We define a subgroup of the universal sofic group, obtained as the normaliser of a separable abelian subalgebra. This subgroup can be obtained as an extension by the group of automorphisms on a standard probability space. We show that each sofic representation can be conjugated inside this subgroup.

Nonsingular transformations and dimension spaces

For any adic transformation $T$ defined on the path space $X$ of an ordered Bratteli diagram, endowed with a Markov measure $μ$, we construct an explicit dimension space (which corresponds to a matrix values random walk on $\mathbb{Z}$) whose Poisson boundary can be identified as a $\mathbb{Z}$-space with the dynamical system $(X,μ,T)$. We give a couple of examples to show how dimension spaces can be used in the study of nonsingular transformations.
