Carrollian Conformal Theories in Momentum Space

We consider the Carrollian conformal field theories involving scalar operators in the momentum representation. The momentum space Ward identities are explicitly solved to obtain the different branches of 2 and 3 point Carrollian conformal correlators in the momentum space. These branches are symmetry-allowed structures, characterized by different analytic structures in the Carrollian energies, and are not necessarily realized simultaneously in a single consistent theory. For specific values of the conformal dimensions, the three-point functions in momentum space exhibit logarithmic behaviour. This has no analogue in position space and instead originates from singularities in the Fourier transform relating position and momentum space correlators. We also analyze the Carrollian limit of CFT 2 and 3 point functions of scalar operators in momentum space. By taking different scalings of CFT correlators with respect to the speed of light, we obtain different branches of the Carrollian conformal correlators in the momentum space.

The Reggeon Vertex for DDF States

We provide a compact expression for the generating function of correlators involving an arbitrary number of bosonic open string DDF states. The explicit correlators for $M$ DDF states can then be obtained by differentiating this generating function with respect to the DDF polarization tensors. The generating function depends on single and double complex integrals centred around the punctures corresponding to the insertion points of the DDF vertices on the real axis in the upper half-plane. We have explicitly evaluated these integrals for an arbitrary number of DDF states. To check our results, we computed some massive scalars and spin-2 amplitudes for $M=3$ and $M=4$, verifying that these amplitudes have the form expected from Lorentz invariance. Moreover, for the first excited levels, we also show that the DDF amplitudes with generic polarizations can be reassembled into Lorentz-covariant amplitudes, with emergent covariant polarizations that match the expressions obtained by comparing the string states in both the DDF and covariant formalisms.

Flat space spinning massive amplitudes from momentum space CFT

We discuss the flat space limit of AdS using the momentum space representation of CFT correlators. The flat space limit involves sending the AdS radius and the dimensions of operators dual to massive fields to infinity while also scaling appropriately the sources of the dual operators. In this limit, d-dimensional CFT correlators become (d+1)-dimensional scattering amplitudes. We exemplify our discussion with the computation of the flat-space limit of the CFT 3-point function of a conserved current, a non-conserved charged vector operator and its conjugate. The flat-space limit should yield the scattering amplitude of an Abelian gauge field with two massive vector fields. This scattering amplitude computes the electromagnetic form factors of the electromagnetic current in a spin-1 state, and these form factors encode the electromagnetic properties of the massive vector field (charge, magnetic moment and quadruple moment). In terms of the CFT, the flat-space limit amounts to zooming in the infrared region of the triple-K integrals that determine the 3-point function, while also scaling to infinity the order of (some of) the Bessel functions that feature in the triple-K integrals. In this limit the triple-K integral becomes proportional to the energy-preserving delta function, and the flat space limit correctly yields the corresponding flat space scattering amplitude in complete detail.

Momentum space CFT correlators of non-conserved spinning operators

We analyse the 3-point CFT correlators involving non-conserved spinning operators in momentum space. We derive a general expression for the conformal Ward identities defining the 3-point functions involving two generic spin $s$ non-conserved operators and a spin 1 conserved current. We give explicit expressions for the 3-point function when the two non-conserved operators have spins 1 and 2 and generic conformal dimensions. We also systematically analyse the divergences appearing in these 3-point functions when the conformal dimensions of the two non-conserved operators coincide.

IR Constraints on Gyromagnetic Ratios

In Bosonic, Heterotic and Type II theories, by employing soft theorems and string techniques, we analyze the gyromagnetic ratios of massive high spin particles coupled to Abelian gauge fields arising from the compactification of the metric and Kalb-Ramond fields. We derive a universal form for such couplings showing that mixed symmetry states of the leading Regge-trajectory, described by a Young-tableau with two rows, have a gyromagnetic ratio associated with each row.

Soft-Theorems for Scalar Particles: The Dilatons Story

We summarize recent results regarding single and double soft theorems of two different particles named dilatons, the Nambu-Goldstone boson of the spontaneously broken conformal field theories and the massless scalar particle of the closed string theories. Similarities and differences between the soft theorems of these two particles are discussed as well as their connections with the symmetries of the theories.

Revisiting Higher-Spin Gyromagnetic Couplings

We analyze Bosonic, Heterotic, and Type II string theories compactified on a generic torus having constant moduli. By computing the hamiltonian giving the interaction between massive string excitations and $U(1)$ gauge fields arising from the graviton and Kalb-Ramond field upon compactification, we derive a general formula for such couplings that turns out to be universal in all these theories. We also confirm our result by explicitly evaluating the relevant string three-point amplitudes. From this expression, we determine the gyromagnetic ratio $g$ of massive string states coupled to both gauge-fields. For a generic mixed symmetry state, there is one gyromagnetic coupling associated with each row of the corresponding Young Tableau diagram. For all the states having zero Kaluza Klein or Winding charges, the value of $g$ turns out to be $1$. We also explicitly consider totally symmetric and mixed symmetry states (having two rows in the Young diagram) associated with the first Regge-trajectory and obtain their corresponding $g$ value.

Double-soft behavior of massless closed strings interacting with any number of closed string tachyons

We calculate the simultaneous double-soft limit of two massless closed strings scattering with any number of closed string tachyons to the subleading order at the tree level. The limit factorizes the scattering amplitude into a double-soft factor multiplying the pure tachyon subamplitude, suggesting a universal double-soft theorem for the massless closed string. We confirm an existing result for the double-soft graviton in an on-shell equivalent, but different form, while also establishing the double-soft factorization behavior of the string dilaton and of the Kalb-Ramond state, as well as the mixed graviton-dilaton case. We also show that the simultaneous and consecutive double-soft theorems are consistent with each other. We furthermore provide a complete field theory diagrammatic view on our result, which enables us in particular to establish a four-point interaction vertex for two tachyons and two massless closed string states, as well as the missing in field theory of three-point interaction of two massless closed string state and one tachyon.

Soft Theorems from Compactification

We analyze the single subleading soft graviton theorem in $(d+1)$ dimensions under compactification on $S^1$. This produces the single soft theorems for the graviton, vector and scalar fields in $d$ dimension. For the compactification of $11$-dimensional supergravity theory, this gives the soft factorization properties of the single graviton, dilaton and RR 1-form fields in type IIA string theory in ten dimensions. For the case of the soft vector field, we also explicitly check the result obtained from compactification by computing the amplitudes with external massive spin two and massless finite energy states interacting with soft vector field. The former are the Kaluza-Klein excitations of the $d+1$ dimensional metric. Describing the interaction of the KK-modes with the vector field at each level by the minimally coupled Fierz-Pauli Lagrangian, we find agreement with the results obtained from the compactification if the gyromagnetic ratio in the minimally coupled Fierz-Pauli Lagrangian is taken to be $g=1$.

On the multiloop soft theorem of the dilaton in the bosonic string

In this note we show that by fixing the multiloop Green function in the closed bosonic string to be Arakelov's Green function, one obtains factorization of scattering amplitudes with a softly emitted dilaton to the same level as with a graviton to all loop order. This extends our previous analysis at one loop to all loop orders and confirms that some high-energy quantum symmetry in the bosonic string protects the factorization of amplitudes with softly emitted dilatons.

Multiloop Soft Theorem for Gravitons and Dilatons in the Bosonic String

We construct, in the closed bosonic string, the multiloop amplitude involving $N$ tachyons and one massless particle with $26 -D$ compactified directions, and we show that at least for $D>4$, the soft behaviors of the graviton and dilaton satisfy the same soft theorems as at the tree level, up to one additional term at the subsubleading order, which can only contribute to the dilaton soft behavior and which we show is zero at least at one loop. This is possible, since the infrared divergences due to the non-vanishing tachyon and dilaton tadpoles do not depend on the number of external particles and are therefore the same both in the amplitude with the soft particle and in the amplitude without the soft particle. Therefore this leaves unchanged the soft operator acting on the amplitude without the soft particle. The additional infrared divergence appearing for $D \leq 4$ depend on the number of external legs and must be understood on their own.

The B-field soft theorem and its unification with the graviton and dilaton

In theories of Einstein gravity coupled with a dilaton and a two-form, a soft theorem for the two-form, known as the Kalb-Ramond B-field, has so far been missing. In this work we fill the gap, and in turn formulate a unified soft theorem valid for gravitons, dilatons and B-fields in any tree-level scattering amplitude involving the three massless states. The new soft theorem is fixed by means of on-shell gauge invariance and enters at the subleading order of the graviton's soft theorem. In contrast to the subsubleading soft behavior of gravitons and dilatons, we show that the soft behavior of B-fields at this order cannot be fully fixed by gauge invariance. Nevertheless, we show that it is possible to establish a gauge invariant decomposition of the amplitudes to any order in the soft expansion. We check explicitly the new soft theorem in the bosonic string and in Type II superstring theories, and furthermore demonstrate that, at the next order in the soft expansion, totally gauge invariant terms appear in both string theories which cannot be factorized into a soft theorem.

Double-soft behavior of the dilaton of spontaneously broken conformal invariance

The Ward identities involving the currents associated to the spontaneously broken scale and special conformal transformations are derived and used to determine, through linear order in the two soft-dilaton momenta, the double-soft behavior of scattering amplitudes involving two soft dilatons and any number of other particles. It turns out that the double-soft behavior is equivalent to performing two single-soft limits one after the other. We confirm the new double-soft theorem perturbatively at tree-level in a $D$-dimensional conformal field theory model, as well as nonperturbatively by using the "gravity dual'' of ${\cal{N}}=4$ super Yang-Mills on the Coulomb branch; i.e. the Dirac-Born-Infeld action on AdS${}_5 \times S^5$.

Soft behavior of a closed massless state in superstring and universality in the soft behavior of the dilaton

We consider the tree-level scattering amplitudes in the NS-NS (Neveu-Schwarz) massless sector of closed superstrings in the case where one external state becomes soft. We compute the amplitudes generically for any number of dimensions and any number and kind of the massless closed states through the subsubleading order in the soft expansion. We show that, when the soft state is a graviton or a dilaton, the full result can be expressed as a soft theorem factorizing the amplitude in a soft and a hard part. This behavior is similar to what has previously been observed in field theory and in the bosonic string. Differently from the bosonic string, the supersymmetric soft theorem for the graviton has no string corrections at subsubleading order. The dilaton soft theorem, on the other hand, is found to be universally free of string corrections in any string theory.

New soft theorems for the gravity dilaton and the Nambu-Goldstone dilaton at subsubleading order

We study the soft behavior of two seemingly different particles that are both referred to as dilatons in the literature, namely the one that appears in theories of gravity and in string theory and the Nambu-Goldstone boson of spontaneously broken conformal invariance. Our primary result is the discovery of a soft theorem at subsubleading order for each dilaton, which in both cases contains the operator of special conformal transformations. Interesting similarities as well as differences between the dilaton soft theorems are discussed.

Subsubleading soft theorems of gravitons and dilatons in the bosonic string

Starting from the amplitude with an arbitrary number of massless closed states of the bosonic string, we compute the soft limit when one of the states becomes soft to subsubleading order in the soft momentum expansion, and we show that when the soft state is a graviton or a dilaton, the full string amplitude can be expressed as a soft theorem through subsubleading order. It turns out that there are string corrections to the field theoretical limit in the case of a soft graviton, while for a soft dilaton the string corrections vanish. We then show that the new soft theorems, including the string corrections, can be simply obtained from the exchange diagrams where the soft state is attached to the other external states through the three-point string vertex of three massless states. In the soft-limit, the propagator of the exchanged state is divergent, and at tree-level these are the only divergent contributions to the full amplitude. However, they do not form a gauge invariant subset and must be supplemented with extra non-singular terms. The requirement of gauge invariance then fixes the complete amplitude through subsubleading order in the soft expansion, reproducing exactly what one gets from the explicit calculation in string theory. From this it is seen that the string corrections at subsubleading order arise as a consequence of the three-point amplitude having string corrections in the bosonic string. When specialized to a soft dilaton, it remarkably turns out that the string corrections vanish and that the non-singular piece of the subsubleading term of the dilaton soft theorem is the generator of space-time special conformal transformation.

Soft Theorems from String Theory

Soft behaviour of closed string amplitudes involving dilatons, gravitons and anti-symmetric tensors, is studied in the framework of bosonic string theory. The leading double soft limit of gluons is analysed as well, starting from scattering amplitudes computed in the open bosonic string. Field theory expressions are then obtained by sending the string tension to infinity. The presented results have been derived in the papers of Ref.[1].

Double-soft behavior for scalars and gluons from string theory

We compute the leading double-soft behavior for gluons and for the scalars obtained by dimensional reduction of a higher dimensional pure gauge theory, from the scattering amplitudes of gluons and scalars living in the world-volume of a Dp-brane of the bosonic string. In the case of gluons, we compute both the double-soft behavior when the two soft gluons are contiguous as well as when they are not contiguous. From our results, that are valid in string theory, one can easily get the double-soft limit in gauge field theory by sending the string tension to infinity.
