SmartSalesBench: A Resistance-Aware Multi-Turn Benchmark for Evaluating LLM Sales Agents

We present SmartSalesBench, the first multi-turn conversational benchmark explicitly designed to evaluate large language model (LLM) sales agents against psychologically grounded, resistant buyer personas. Existing task-oriented dialogue benchmarks assume cooperative users and measure task completion; SmartSalesBench inverts this assumption, placing agents against personas programmed to resist and challenge across conversations of up to twenty turns. The benchmark includes five agent profiles, twelve buyer personas, fifteen smartphone products across six price tiers, and four controlled experiments with 3 iterations totaling 13,680 sessions. Both sales-agent and buyer persona generations are grounded through retrieval-augmented generation (RAG). We introduce nine evaluation metrics grouped into three tiers: primary outcome metrics (CR, BRS, RIR), secondary quality metrics (SMS, PFS, ETI), and exploratory metrics planned for future reporting (ITS, ARI, SPI). Our evaluation combines automated LLM-as-judge scoring with internal human assessment (n = 50, \k{appa} = 0.71, Pearson r = 0.81 with BRS).

Benchmarking Embedding Geometries and Clustering Algorithms for Unsupervised Patent Claim Classification

Prior-art retrieval systems are structurally organized around classification codes, making cross-code discovery difficult. This paper asks if an unsupervised representation trained on patent text can recover relevant connections that code-restricted search cannot, and if hyperbolic space helps. We trained a hyperbolic and a matched Euclidean Variational Autoencoder (VAE) on 45,000 US patents (96 runs, 6 seeds). The hyperbolic model retrieves genuinely cross-category prior art 52% more often than the Euclidean model (18.76% vs. 12.34% of top-10 results, 3,000 queries). This represents a practical gain for the motivating search problem. The hyperbolic model agrees less with official classification (NMI 0.2392 vs. 0.3206), which we explain geometrically: the two measures capture different goals, and only one aligns with prior-art search needs. In a study of 10 technology domains (50,000 more patents), we find that a domain's classification breadth--the number of distinct CPC subgroups spanned--predicts approach performance (Pearson r=-0.642, p=0.045, N=10), and that patents per subgroup is an even stronger predictor (r=0.715, p=0.020). This provides a checkable signal for practitioners to determine where the method is most valuable. We report all findings with statistical transparency and release a complete, 91-test automated implementation.

Popularity Estimation and New Bundle Generation using Content and Context based Embeddings

Recommender systems create enormous value for businesses and their consumers. They increase revenue for businesses while improving the consumer experience by recommending relevant products amidst huge product base. Product bundling is an exciting development in the field of product recommendations. It aims at generating new bundles and recommending exciting and relevant bundles to their consumers. Unlike traditional recommender systems that recommend single items to consumers, product bundling aims at targeting a bundle, or a set of items, to the consumers. While bundle recommendation has attracted significant research interest recently, extant literature on bundle generation is scarce. Moreover, metrics to identify if a bundle is popular or not is not well studied. In this work, we aim to fulfill this gap by introducing new bundle popularity metrics based on sales, consumer experience and item diversity in a bundle. We use these metrics in the methodology proposed in this paper to generate new bundles for mobile games using content aware and context aware embeddings. We use opensource Steam Games dataset for our analysis. Our experiments indicate that we can generate new bundles that can outperform the existing bundles on the popularity metrics by 32% - 44%. Our experiments are computationally efficient and the proposed methodology is generic that can be extended to other bundling problems e.g. product bundling, music bundling.
