On the stability of nuclei in semi-classical quantum molecular dynamics model

The stability of nuclei is discussed with respect to the width of the Gaussian wave packets within Quantum Molecular Dynamics model. A detailed study is carried out by taking different equations of state (i.e., static soft and hard and the momentum dependent soft and hard) for the selected nuclei from 12C to 197Au. A comparison is done by using standard and broader Gaussian wave packets. We find that the nuclei propagating with broader Gaussian wave packets remain stable for entire reaction time span.

Density dependence of symmetry energy and collective transverse in-plane flow

We study the sensitivity of the collective transverse in-plane flow to the symmetry energy and its density dependence at Fermi energies and higher incident energies. We find that collective transverse in-plane flow is sensitive to the symmetry energy and its density dependence at Fermi energies whereas it shows insensitivity at higher incident energies.

Dynamical approach to spectator fragmentation in Au+Au reactions at 35 MeV/A

The characteristics of fragment emission in peripheral $^{197}$Au+$^{197}$Au collisions 35 MeV/A are studied using the two clusterization approaches within framework of \emph{quantum molecular dynamics} model. Our model calculations using \emph{minimum spanning tree} (MST) algorithm and advanced clusterization method namely \emph{simulated annealing clusterization algorithm} (SACA) showed that fragment structure can be realized at an earlier time when spectators contribute significantly toward the fragment production even at such a low incident energy. Comparison of model predictions with experimental data reveals that SACA method can nicely reproduce the fragment charge yields and mean charge of the heaviest fragment. This reflects suitability of SACA method over conventional clusterization techniques to investigate spectator matter fragmentation in low energy domain.

Correlation between balance energy and transition energy for symmetric colliding nuclei

We study the correlation between balance energy and transition energy of fragment in heavy-ion collisions for different systems at incident energies between 40 and 1200 MeV/nucleon using an isospin-dependent quantum molecular dynamics model. With increasing incident energy, the elliptic flow shows a transition from positive (in-plane) to negative (out-of-plane) flow. This transition energy is found to depend on the size of fragments, composite mass of reacting system, and the impact parameter of reaction. It has been observed that reduced cross-section can explain the experimental data. There is a correlation between transition energy and balance energy as their difference decreases with increase in the total mass of colliding nuclei.

Influence of charge asymmetry and isospin dependent cross-section on nuclear stopping

Using the isospin dependent quantum molecular dynamics model, we study the effect of charge asymmetry and isospin dependent cross-section on nuclear stopping and multiplicity of free nucleons and LMF's. Simulations were carried out for the reactions $^{124}X_{m}+^{124}X_{m}$, where m varies from 47 to 59 and for $^{40}Y_{n}+^{40}Y_{n}$, where n varies from 14 to 23. Our study shows that nuclear stopping as well as the production of LMF's depend strongly on the isospin of the cross-section.

Influence of charge asymmetry and isospin dependent cross-section on elliptical flow

Using the isospin dependent quantum molecular dynamics model, we study the effect of charge asymmetry and isospin dependent cross-section on different aspects of elliptical flow. Simulations have been carried out for the reactions of $^{124}X_{m}+^{124}X_{m}$, where m = (47, 50, 53, 57 and 59) and $^{40}X_{n}+^{40}X_{n}$, where n= (14, 16, 18, 21 and 23). Our study shows that elliptical flow depend strongly on the isospin of cross-section. The transition energy remains almost constant with increase in N/Z of the system. A good agreement is obtained with experimental measurements.

Role of colliding geometry on the N/Z dependence of balance energy

We study the role of colliding geometry on the N/Z dependence of balance energy using isospin-dependent quantum molecular dynamics model. Our study reveals that the N/Z dependence of balance energy becomes much steeper for peripheral collisions as compared to the central collisions. We also study the effect of system mass on the impact parameter dependence of N/Z dependence of balance energy. The study shows that lighter systems shows greater sensitivity to colliding geometry towards the N/Z dependence.

Study of Coulomb interactions at VECC energies

we study the effect of Coulomb interactions on balance energy for various colliding nuclei in terms of mass asymmetry. This study shows that the balance energy is affected by the Coulomb interactions as well as different nuclear equations of state. The preliminary results calculated theoretically will be of great use for scientists at VECC. This study is further in progress.

Study of elliptical flow at VECC-SCC500 energies

We study the transverse momentum dependence of elliptical flow at VECC energies by using the projectiles having masses lying between 16 and 56 units. The detailed study in this direction will be fruitful for experimentlists.

N/Z dependence of balance energy throughout the colliding geometries

We study the N/Z dependence of balance energy throughout the mass range for colliding geometry varying from central to peripheral ones. Our results indicate that balance energy decreases linearly with increase in N/Z ratio for all the masses throughout the colliding geometry range. Also, the N/Z dependence of balance energy is sensitive to symmetry energy.

Transverse in-plane flow: a new probe of symmetry energy in Fermi energy region

We study the sensitivity of transverse flow towards the different density dependence of symmetry energy in Fermi energy region. Our results show that transverse flow shows sensitivity to different density dependence of symmetry energy. The mechanism for sensitivity towards different density dependence of symmetry energy is also discussed.

On the participant-spectator matter and thermalization of neutron-rich systems in heavy-ion collisions

We study the participant-spectator matter at the energy of vanishing flow for neutron-rich systems. Our study reveals similar behaviour of articipant-spectator for neutron-rich systems as for stable systems and also points towards nearly mass independence behaviour of participant-spectator matter for neutron-rich systems at the energy of vanishing flow. We also study the thermalization reached in the reactions of neutron-rich systems.
