Existence and global second-order regularity for anisotropic parabolic equations with variable growth

We consider the homogeneous Dirichlet problem for the anisotropic parabolic equation \[ u_t-\sum_{i=1}^ND_{x_i}\left(|D_{x_i}u|^{p_i(x,t)-2}D_{x_i}u\right)=f(x,t) \] in the cylinder $Ω\times (0,T)$, where $Ω\subset \mathbb{R}^N$, $N\geq 2$, is a parallelepiped. The exponents of nonlinearity $p_i$ are given Lipschitz-continuous functions. It is shown that if $p_i(x,t)>\frac{2N}{N+2}$, \[ μ=\sup_{Q_T}\dfrac{\max_i p_i(x,t)}{\min_i p_i(x,t)}<1+\dfrac{1}{N}, \quad |D_{x_i}u_0|^{\max\{p_i(\cdot,0),2\}}\in L^1(Ω),\quad f\in L^2(0,T;W^{1,2}_0(Ω)), \] then the problem has a unique solution $u\in C([0,T];L^2(Ω))$ with $|D_{x_i} u|^{p_i}\in L^{\infty}(0,T;L^1(Ω))$, $u_t\in L^2(Q_T)$. Moreover, \[ |D_{x_i}u|^{p_i+r}\in L^1(Q_T)\quad \text{with some $r=r(μ,N)>0$},\qquad |D_{x_i}u|^{\frac{p_i-2}{2}}D_{x_i}u\in W^{1,2}(Q_T). \] The assertions remain true for a smooth domain $Ω$ if $p_i=2$ on the lateral boundary of $Q_T$.

On double phase Kirchhoff problems with singular nonlinearity

In this paper, we study multiplicity results for double phase problems of Kirchhoff type with right-hand sides that include a parametric singular term and a nonlinear term of subcritical growth. Under very general assumptions on the data, we prove the existence of at least two weak solutions that have different energy sign. Our treatment is based on the fibering method in form of the Nehari manifold. We point out that we cover both the non-degenerate as well as the degenerate Kirchhoff case in our setting.

Combined effects in mixed local-nonlocal stationary problems

In this work, we study an elliptic problem involving an operator of mixed order with both local and nonlocal aspects, and in either the presence or the absence of a singular nonlinearity. We investigate existence or non-existence properties, power and exponential type Sobolev regularity results, and the boundary behavior of the weak solution, in the light of the interplay between the summability of the datum and the power exponent in singular nonlinearities.

Existence and regularity results for a class of parabolic problems with double phase flux of variable growth

We study the homogeneous Dirichlet problem for the equation \[ u_t-\operatorname{div}\left((a(z)\vert \nabla u\vert ^{p(z)-2}+b(z)\vert \nabla u\vert ^{q(z)-2})\nabla u\right)=f\quad \text{in $Q_T=Ω\times (0,T)$}, \] where $Ω\subset \mathbb{R}^N$, $N\geq 2$, is a bounded domain with $\partialΩ\in C^2$. The variable exponents $p$, $q$ and the nonnegative modulating coefficients $a$, $b$ are given Lipschitz-continuous functions of the argument $z=(x,t)\in Q_T$. It is assumed that $\frac{2N}{N+2} 0$ in $\overline{Q}_T$},\; α=const;\qquad \text{$\vert p(z)-q(z)\vert <\frac{2}{N+2}$ in $\overline{Q}_T$}. \] We find conditions on the source $f$ and the initial data $u(\cdot,0)$ that guarantee the existence of a unique strong solution $u$ with $u_t\in L^2(Q_T)$ and $a\vert \nabla u\vert ^{p}+b\vert \nabla u\vert ^q\in L^\infty(0,T;L^1(Ω))$. The solution possesses the property of global higher integrability of the gradient, \[ \vert \nabla u\vert ^{\min\{p(z),q(z)\}+r}\in L^1(Q_T)\quad \text{with any $r\in \left(0,\frac{4}{N+2}\right)$}, \] which is derived with the help of new interpolation inequalities in the variable Sobolev spaces. The second-order differentiability of the strong solution is proven: \[ D_{x_i}\left(\left(a\vert \nabla u\vert ^{p-2}+b\vert \nabla u\vert ^{q-2}\right)^{\frac{1}{2}}D_{x_j}u\right)\in L^2(Q_T),\quad i,j=1,2,\ldots,N. \]

Multiplicity results for nonhomogeneous elliptic equations with singular nonlinearities

This paper is concerned with the study of multiple positive solutions to the following elliptic problem involving a nonhomogeneous operator with nonstandard growth of $p$-$q$ type and singular nonlinearities \begin{equation*} \left\{ \begin{alignedat}{2} {} - \mathcal{L}_{p,q} u & {}= λ\frac{f(u)}{u^γ}, \ u>0 && \quad\mbox{ in } \, Ω, u & {}= 0 && \quad\mbox{ on } \partialΩ, \end{alignedat} \right. \end{equation*} where $Ω$ is a bounded domain in $\mathbb{R}^N$ with $C^2$ boundary, $N \geq 1$, $λ>0$ is a real parameter, $$\mathcal{L}_{p,q} u := div(|\nabla u|^{p-2} \nabla u + |\nabla u|^{q-2} \nabla u),$$ $1<p<q< \infty$, $γ\in (0,1)$, and $f$ is a continuous nondecreasing map satisfying suitable conditions. By constructing two distinctive pairs of strict sub and super solution, and using fixed point theorems by Amann , we prove existence of three positive solutions in the positive cone of $C_δ(\overlineΩ)$ and in a certain range of $λ$.

Strong solutions of the double phase parabolic equations with variable growth

This paper addresses the questions of existence and uniqueness of strong solutions to the homogeneous Dirichlet problem for the double phase equation with operators of variable growth: \[ u_t - div \left(|\nabla u|^{p(z)-2} \nabla u+ a(z) |\nabla u|^{q(z)-2} \nabla u \right) = F(z,u) \quad \text{in $Q_T=Ω\times (0,T)$} \] where $Ω\subset \mathbb{R}^N$, $N \geq 2$, is a bounded domain with the boundary $\partialΩ\in C^2$, $z=(x,t)\in Q_T$, $a:\bar Q_T \mapsto \mathbb{R}$ is a given nonnegative coefficient, and the nonlinear source term has the form \[ F(z,v)=f_0(z)+b(z)|v|^{σ(z)-2}v. \] The variable exponents $p$, $q$, $σ$ are given functions defined on $\bar{Q}_T$, $p$, $q$ are Lipschitz-continuous and \[ \dfrac{2N}{N+2} 0. \]

Regularity results for a class of nonlinear fractional Laplacian and singular problems

In this article, we investigate the existence, uniqueness, nonexistence, and regularity of weak solutions to the nonlinear fractional elliptic problem of type $(P)$ (see below) involving singular nonlinearity and singular weights in smooth bounded domain. We prove the existence of weak solution in $W_{loc}^{s,p}(Ω)$ via approximation method. Establishing a new comparison principle of independent interest, we prove the uniqueness of weak solution for $0 \leq δ< 1+s- \frac{1}{p}$ and furthermore the nonexistence of weak solution for $δ\geq sp.$ Moreover, by virtue of barrier arguments we study the behavior of minimal weak solution in terms of distance function. Consequently, we prove Hölder regularity up to the boundary and optimal Sobolev regularity for minimal weak solutions.

Doubly nonlinear equation involving $p(x)$-homogeneous operators: local existence, uniqueness and global behaviour

In this work, we investigate the qualitative properties as uniqueness, regularity and stabilization of the weak solution to the nonlinear parabolic problem involving general $p(x)$-homogeneous operators: \begin{equation*} \left\{ \begin{alignedat}{2} {} \frac{q}{2q-1}\partial_t(u^{2q-1}) -\nabla.\, a(x, \nabla u) & {}= f(x,u) + h(t,x) u^{q-1} && \quad\mbox{ in } \, (0,T) \times Ω; u & {}> 0 && \quad\mbox{ in }\, (0,T) \times Ω; u & {}= 0 && \quad\mbox{ on }\, (0,T) \times \partialΩ; u(0,.)&{}= u_0 && \quad\ \mbox{in}\, \ Ω. \end{alignedat} \right. \end{equation*} Thanks to the Picone's identity obtained in [10], we prove new results about comparison principles which yield a priori estimates, positivity and uniqueness of weak solutions.

A picone Identity for variable exponent operators and applications

In this work, we establish a new Picone identity for anisotropic quasilinear operators, such as the $p(x)$-Laplacian defined as $\mbox{div}(|\nabla u|^{p(x)-2} \nabla u).$ Our extension provides a new version of the Diaz-Saa inequality and new uniqueness results to some quasilinear elliptic equations with variable exponents. This new Picone identity can be also used to prove some accretivity property to a class of fast diffusion equations involving variable exponents. Using this, we prove for this class of parabolic equations a new weak comparison principle.

n-Kirchhoff Choquard equations with exponenetial nonlinearity

This article deals with the study of the following Kirchhoff equation with exponential nonlinearity of Choquard type (see $(KC)$ below). We use the variational method in the light of Moser-Trudinger inequality to show the existence of weak solutions to $(KC)$. Moreover, analyzing the fibering maps and minimizing the energy functional over suitable subsets of the Nehari manifold, we prove existence and multiplicity of weak solutions to convex-concave problem $(\mathcal{P}_{\la,M})$ below.
