Chaos is Target-Blind in High-Energy QCD Evolution

Chaotic evolution measures how rapidly nearby configurations separate, but the existence of such rapid evolution does not by itself determine what physical information the evolution actually carries. For fixed-coupling JIMWLK evolution with fresh transverse-local, color-isotropic noise, we show that this distinction becomes exact - leading to a no go theorem. At finite rapidity step and finite transverse regulator, the exact linearized update depends on the Wilson-line background only through local adjoint rotations of fresh color-isotropic noise. Once the past is conditioned upon, these rotations leave the complete local noise measure invariant, so the tangent process has the same probability law for any target ensemble evolved with the same regulated fixed-coupling dynamics, including dilute and saturated ensembles. After the exact global color-rotation mode is removed, the reduced tangent process found to have a positive leading Lyapunov exponent which indicate chaotic evolution. Fixed-coupling JIMWLK therefor can be dynamically chaotic while its tangent-only statistics carry no information about the target ensemble. Spatially nonlocal noise however evades the argument because correlations between distinct sites leave relative Wilson lines in the conditional covariance.

Soft-Radiation-Induced Decoherence of Heavy-Quark Spin Entanglement at the Electron-Ion Collider

Using the soft-gluon theorem, we identify a soft-recoil mechanism by which unresolved gluon radiation induces decoherence in the spin correlations of heavy quark-antiquark pairs produced in deep-inelastic scattering. We show the eikonal soft contribution preserves the Born spin structure, whereas the subleading soft term generates stochastic recoil-induced rotations of the spin-correlation plane. Upon tracing over the unresolved gluon, these rotations produce an effective dephasing channel: the normal-axis correlation remains unchanged at this order, while the in-plane spin coherences are suppressed. We estimate the resulting reduction of concurrence and Bell-CHSH violation, and propose a radiation-binned EIC observable based on the ratio of in-plane to normal spin correlations. This observable isolates the characteristic anisotropic suppression predicted by the soft-recoil mechanism and provides a measurable handle on radiation-induced spin decoherence of an entangled quark-antiquark pair produced in a deep-inelastic scattering process.

Entanglement Negativity of Spin-Orbit Correlations in a general Qubit-Qudit Setup

We present the complete eigenvalue spectrum of the partially transposed density matrix for a pure bipartite quantum state acting on a generic $2 \otimes n$ Hilbert space. The spectrum contains four non-zero eigenvalues, as, \begin{eqnarray} \lambda_{1,2}=\pm \sqrt{A}, ~~~ \lambda_{3,4}= \frac{1}{2}(1\pm\sqrt{1-4 A}), \nonumber \end{eqnarray} where $A$ is the determinant of the reduced density matrix (traced over the larger subspace). As $0 \leqslant A \leqslant1/4$, only one is negative among the four non-trivial eigenvalues. Within this qubit-qudit framework, we further studied the negativity as a measure of entanglement for the case of spin-orbit correlation of partons inside a proton. The entanglement negativity for spin-orbit correlations is found to be related to the gluon helicity PDF and the Hermitian angle of the associated Hilbert space for linearly polarized protons.

Small-$x$ evolution of dipole amplitude in momentum space: forward--off-forward correspondence

We have shown that the small-$x$ evolution of the off-forward leading-log dipole scattering amplitudes, both pomeron and odderon, in the momentum space can be completely determined by the evolution of the respective forward amplitudes, with rescaled momenta. In position space, if there is translation symmetry (assumption of a large nucleus), the dipole cross section depends on the positions of quarks and anti-quarks only through their separation. The present study is an equivalent proposition in the momentum space -- where translation symmetry in momentum bifurcates the amplitudes into two translationally symmetric functions along the ${\bf k}$ line in the ${\bf k}-{\bf \Delta}$ plane. It also shows that high energy evolutions of dipole GTMDs can be achieved only by studying the evolution of dipole TMDs at small-$x$.

Spin-flip gluon GTMD $F_{1,2}$ at small-$x$

Until recently the spin-flip processes in the deep inelastic scatterings are thought to be suppressed in the high energy. We found a positive intercept for the spin-flip generalized transverse momentum-dependent parton distribution (GTMDs) ${\rm Re}(F_{1,2})$ as, \begin{eqnarray} {\rm Re}(F_{1,2}) \sim \left(\frac{1}{x}\right)^{{\bar α}_s\left(4\ln2-8/3\right)} \left(\cos 3ϕ_{kΔ} +\cos ϕ_{kΔ}\right). \nonumber \end{eqnarray} This is done by analytically solving the integro-differential evolution equation for ${\rm Re}(F_{1,2})$, recently proposed by Hatta and Zhou, in the dilute regime. Interestingly, the surviving solution corresponds to conformal spin $n=2$ and carries an explicit $\cos 3ϕ_{kΔ} + \cos ϕ_{kΔ}$ azimuthal dependence. As the imaginary part of $F_{1,2}$, is related to the spin-dependent odderon or gluon Siver function and scales as ${\rm Im}(F_{1,2}) \sim x^{0}$, the positive intercept for ${\rm Re}(F_{1,2})$, implies that it is expected to dominate over the gluon Siver function in the small-$x$ limit - and may directly impact the modeling of unpolarised GTMDs and associated spin-flip processes.

The case for an EIC Theory Alliance: Theoretical Challenges of the EIC

We outline the physics opportunities provided by the Electron Ion Collider (EIC). These include the study of the parton structure of the nucleon and nuclei, the onset of gluon saturation, the production of jets and heavy flavor, hadron spectroscopy and tests of fundamental symmetries. We review the present status and future challenges in EIC theory that have to be addressed in order to realize this ambitious and impactful physics program, including how to engage a diverse and inclusive workforce. In order to address these many-fold challenges, we propose a coordinated effort involving theory groups with differing expertise is needed. We discuss the scientific goals and scope of such an EIC Theory Alliance.

Orbital Angular Momentum Distribution of Gluons at Small-$x$ : Analytic interpolation between Ji and Jaffe-Manohar

In this work, we first introduced a generalized Wilson line gauge link that reproduces both staple and near straight links along the light cone in different parameter limits. We then studied the gauge-invariant bi-local orbital angular momentum operator with such a general gauge link, in the framework of Chen et. al. decomposition of gauge fields. At the appropriate combination of limits, the operator reproduces both Jaffe-Manohar and Ji's operator structure and offers a continuous analytical interpolation between the two.

Dynamics of QCD Matter -- current status

In this article, there are 18 sections discussing various current topics in the field of relativistic heavy-ion collisions and related phenomena, which will serve as a snapshot of the current state of the art. Section 1 reviews experimental results of some recent light-flavored particle production data from ALICE collaboration. Other sections are mostly theoretical in nature. Very strong but transient magnetic field created in relativistic heavy-ion collisions could have important observational consequences. This has generated a lot of theoretical activity in the last decade. Sections 2, 7, 9, 10 and 11 deal with the effects of the magnetic field on the properties of the QCD matter. There are several unanswered questions about the QCD phase diagram. Sections 3, 11 and 18 discuss various aspects of the QCD phase diagram and phase transitions. Recent years have witnessed interesting developments in foundational aspects of hydrodynamics and their application to heavy-ion collisions. Sections 12, 15, 16 and 17 of this article probe some aspects of this exciting field. Transport coefficients together with their temperature- and density-dependence, are essential inputs in hydrodynamical calculations. Sections 5, 8 and 14 deal with calculation/estimation of various transport coefficients (shear and bulk viscosity, thermal conductivity, relaxation times, etc.) of quark matter and hadronic matter. Sections 4, 6 and 13 deals with interesting new developments in the field. Section 4 discusses color dipole gluon distribution function at small transverse momentum in the form of a series of Bells polynomials. Section 6 discusses the properties of Higgs boson in the quark gluon plasma using Higgs-quark interaction. Section 13 discusses modification of coalescence model to incorporate viscous corrections and application of this model.

Infrared renormalon effects in color dipole TMD PDF at small-$x$

The uncertainties from the infrared renormalons in the (color dipole) gluon distribution is estimated. It is shown that non-linear saturation effects at small-$x$ shift the first IR pole at the Borel plane from $2/β_2$ to $1/β_2$. As a consequence the estimated uncertainty is found to be ${\cal O}\left(Λ_{\rm QCD}^2\right)$ instead of ${\cal O}\left(Λ_{\rm QCD}^4\right)$.

JIMWLK evolution and small-x asymptotics of 2n-tuple Wilson line correlators

JIMWLK equation tells how gauge invariant higher order Wilson line correlators would evolve at high energy. In this article we present a convenient integro-differential form of this equation, for 2n-tuple correlator, where all real and virtual terms are explicit. The `real' terms correspond to splitting (say at position z) of this 2n-tuple correlator to various pairs of 2m-tuple and (2n+2-2m)-tuple correlators whereas `virtual' terms correspond to splitting into pairs of 2m-tuple and (2n-2m)-tuple correlators. Kernels of virtual terms with m=0 (no splitting) and of real terms with m=1 (splitting with atleast one dipole) have poles and when integrated over z they do generate ultraviolet logarithmic divergences, separately for real and virtual terms. Except these two cases in all other terms the corresponding kernels, separately for real and virtual terms, have rather soften ultraviolet singularity and when integrated over z do not generate ultraviolet logarithmic divergences. We went on to study the solution of the JIMWLK equation for the 2n-tuple Wilson line correlator in the strong scattering regime where all transverse distances are much larger than inverse saturation momentum and shown that it also exhibits geometric scaling like color dipole deep inside saturation region.

Unintegrated dipole gluon distribution at small transverse momentum

We derive analytical results for unintegrated color dipole gluon distribution function at small transverse momentum. By Fourier transforming the $S$-matrix for large dipoles we derive the results in the form of a series of Bells polynomials. Interestingly, when resumming the series in leading log accuracy, the results showing up striking similarity with the Sudakov form factor with role play of coupling is being done by a constant that stems from the saddle point condition along the saturation line.

On the solution of linearized (linear in S-matrix) Balitsky-Kovchegov equation

We revisited solution of a linearized form of leading order Balitsky-Kovchegov equation (linear in S-matrix for dipole-nucleus scattering). Here we adopted dipole transverse width dependent cutoff in order to regulate the dipole integral. We also have taken care of all the higher order terms (higher order in the cutoff) that have been reasonably neglected before. The solution reproduces both McLerran-Venugopalan type initial condition (Gaussian in scaling variable) and Levin-Tuchin solution (Gaussian in logarithm of scaling variable) in the appropriate limits. It also connects this two opposite limits smoothly with better accuracy for sets of rescaled rapidity when compared to numerical solutions of full leading order Balitsky-Kovchegov equation.

Soft Gluon Radiation off Heavy Quarks beyond Eikonal Approximation

We calculate the soft gluon radiation spectrum off heavy quarks (HQs) interacting with light quarks (LQs) beyond small angle scattering (eikon- ality) approximation and thus generalize the dead-cone formula of heavy quarks extensively used in the literatures of Quark-Gluon Plasma (QGP) phenomenology to the large scattering angle regime which may be im- portant in the energy loss of energetic heavy quarks in the deconfined Quark-Gluon Plasma medium. In the proper limits, we reproduce all the relevant existing formulae for the gluon radiation distribution off energetic quarks, heavy or light used in the QGP phenomenology.

Drag induced radiative energy loss of semi-hard heavy quarks

We revisited gluon bremsstrahlung off a heavy quark in nuclear matter within higher twist formalism. In this work, we demonstrate that, in addition to transverse momentum diffusion parameter ($\hat q$), the gluon emission spectrum for a heavy quark is quite sensitive to $\hat e$, which quantify the amount of light-cone drag experienced by a parton. This effect leads to an additional energy loss term for heavy-quarks. From heavy flavor suppression data in ultra-relativistic heavy-ion collisions one can now estimate the value of this sub-leading non-perturbative jet transport parameter ($\hat e$) from our results.

Drag induced radiative loss from semi-hard heavy quarks

The case of gluon bremsstrahlung off a heavy quark in extended nuclear matter is revisited within the higher twist formalism. In particular, the in-medium modification of "semi-hard" heavy quarks is studied, where the momentum of the heavy quark is larger but comparable to the mass of the heavy quark ($p \gtrsim M$). In contrast to all prior calculations, where the gluon emission spectrum is entirely controlled by the transverse momentum diffusion parameter ($\hat q$), both for light and heavy quarks, in this work, we demonstrate that the gluon emission spectrum for a heavy quark (unlike that for flavors) is also sensitive to $\hat e$, which so far has been used to quantify the amount of light-cone drag experienced by a parton. This mass dependent effect, due to the non-light-like momentum of a semi-hard heavy-quark, leads to an additional energy loss term for heavy-quarks, while resulting in a negligible modification of light flavor (and high energy heavy flavor) loss. This result can be used to estimate the value of this sub-leading non-perturbative jet transport parameter ($\hat e$) from heavy flavor suppression in ultra-relativistic heavy-ion collisions.

Small-$x$ evolution of jet quenching parameter

Concept of transverse deflection probability of a parton that travels through strongly interacting medium, recently introduced by D'Eramo, Liu and Rajagopal, have been used to derive high energy evolution equation for the jet quenching parameter in stochastic multiple scatterings regime. Jet quenching parameter, ${\hat q}(x)$, appears to evolve with $x$, with an exponent $0.9{\bar α}_s$, which is slightly less than that of $x {\cal G} (x)$ where ${\cal G} (x)$ is the gluon distribution function.

The consequences of SU(3) colorsingletness, Polyakov Loop and Z(3) symmetry on a quark-gluon gas

Based on quantum statistical mechanics we show that the $SU(3)$ color singlet ensemble of a quark-gluon gas exhibits a $Z(3)$ symmetry through the normaized character in fundamental representation and also becomes equivalent, within a stationary point approximation, to the ensemble given by Polyakov Loop. Also Polyakov Loop gauge potential is obtained by considering spatial gluons along with the invariant Haar measure at each space point. The probability of the normalized character in $SU(3)$ vis-a-vis Polyakov Loop is found to be maximum at a particular value exhibiting a strong color correlation. This clearly indicates a transition from a color correlated to uncorrelated phase or vise-versa. When quarks are included to the gauge fields, a metastable state appears in the temperature range $145\le T({\rm{MeV}}) \le 170$ due to the explicit $Z(3)$ symmetry breaking in the quark-gluon system. Beyond $T\ge 170$ MeV the metastable state disappears and stable domains appear. At low temperature a dynamical recombination of ionized $Z(3)$ color charges to a color singlet $Z(3)$ confined phase is evident along with a confining background that originates due to circulation of two virtual spatial gluons but with conjugate $Z(3)$ phases in a closed loop. We also discuss other possible consequences of the center domains in the color deconfined phase at high temperature.

Multiple scattering of heavy-quarks in dense matter and the parametric prominence of drag

The case of heavy quark propagation in dense extended matter is studied in the multiple scattering formalism of the higher twist energy loss scheme. We consider the case of deep inelastic scattering off a large nucleus. The hard lepton scatters off a heavy quark fluctuation within one of the nucleons. This heavy quark then propagates through the dense medium, multiply scattering off the gluon field of the remaining nucleons in its path. We consider the fictitious process where a heavy quark propagates through the nucleus without radiation. Invoking Soft-Collinear Effective Theory power counting arguments, we consider the case of a "semi-hard" heavy-quark where the mass is of the order of the out-going momentum and larger than the transverse momentum imparted per unit length due to scattering. In this limit, it is found that longitudinal momentum exchanges (quantified by the transport coefficient $\hat{e}$) have a comparable effect on the off-shellness of the propagating quark, as the transverse momentum exchanges (quantified by $\hat{q}$) which constitute the leading cause of off-shellness for propagating light quarks or gluons. Consequences of this new hierarchy for the propagation of the heavy quark in dense matter are discussed.
