Maximum tri-partite Hardy's nonlocality respecting all bi-partite principles

The set of multiparty correlations that respect all bi-partite principles has been conjectured to be same as the set of time-ordered-bi-local correlations. Based on this conjuncture we find the maximum value of success probability of tri-partite Hardy's correlation respecting all bi-partite physical principles. Unlike in quantum mechanics, the no-signaling principle does not reveal any gap in Hardy's maximum success probability for bi-partite and tri-partite system. Information causality principle is shown to be successful in qualitatively revealing this quantum feature and this result is independent of the conjecture mentioned above.

Quantum Cournot equilibrium for the Hotelling-Smithies model of product choice

This paper demonstrates the quantization of a spatial Cournot duopoly model with product choice, a two stage game focusing on non-cooperation in locations and quantities. With quantization, the players can access a continuous set of strategies, using continuous variable quantum mechanical approach. The presence of quantum entanglement in the initial state identifies a quantity equilibrium for every location pair choice with any transport cost. Also higher profit is obtained by the firms at Nash equilibrium. Adoption of quantum strategies rewards us by the existence of a larger quantum strategic space at equilibrium.

Hardy's non-locality and generalized non-local theory

Hardy's non-locality theorem for multiple two-level systems is explored in the context of generalized nonlocal theory. We find nonlocal but non-signaling probabilities, providing Hardy's nonlocal argument, which are higher than those in Quantum Mechanics. Maximum probability of success of Hardy's argument is obtained for three two-level systems in quantum as well as in a more generalized theory. Interestingly, the maximum in the nonlocal generalized theory for both the cases turns out to be same.

Local cloning of CAT states

In this Letter we analyze the (im)possibility of the exact cloning of orthogonal three-qubit CAT states under local operation and classical communication(LOCC) with the help of a restricted entangled state. We also classify the three-qubit CAT states that can(not) be cloned under LOCC restrictions and extend the results to the n-qubit case.

Entanglement cost of two-qubit orthogonal measurements

The "entanglement cost" of a bipartite measurement is the amount of shared entanglement two participants need to use up in order to carry out the given measurement by means of local operations and classical communication. Here we numerically investigate the entanglement cost of generic orthogonal measurements on two qubits. Our results strongly suggest that for almost all measurements of this kind, the entanglement cost is strictly greater than the average entanglement of the eigenstates associated with the measurements, implying that the nonseparability of a two-qubit orthogonal measurement is generically distinct from the nonseparability of its eigenstates.

Local randomness in Hardy's correlations: Implications from information causality principle

Study of nonlocal correlations in term of Hardy's argument has been quite popular in quantum mechanics. Recently Hardy's argument of non-locality has been studied in the context of generalized non-signaling theory as well as theory respecting information causality. Information causality condition significantly reduces the success probability for Hardy's argument when compared to the result based on non-signaling condition. Here motivated by the fact that maximally entangled state in quantum mechanics does not exhibit Hardy's non-local correlation, we do a qualitative study of the property of local randomness of measured observable on each side reproducing Hardy's non-locality correlation,in the context of information causality condition. On applying the necessary condition for respecting the principle of information causality, we find that there are severe restrictions on the local randomness of measured observable in contrast to results obtained from no-signaling condition.Still, there are some restrictions imposed by quantum mechanics that are not obtained from information causality condition.

Berry phase and fidelity susceptibility of the three-qubit Lipkin-Meshkov-Glick ground state

Berry phases and quantum fidelities for interacting spins have attracted considerable attention, in particular in relation to entanglement properties of spin systems and quantum phase transitions. These efforts mainly focus either on spin pairs or the thermodynamic infinite spin limit, while studies of the multipartite case of a finite number of spins are rare. Here, we analyze Berry phases and quantum fidelities of the energetic ground state of a Lipkin-Meshkov-Glick (LMG) model consisting of three spin-1/2 particles (qubits). We find explicit expressions for the Berry phase and fidelity susceptibility of the full system as well as the mixed state Berry phase and partial-state fidelity susceptibility of its one- and two-qubit subsystems. We demonstrate a realization of a nontrivial magnetic monopole structure associated with local, coordinated rotations of the three-qubit system around the external magnetic field.

Bound on Hardy's non-locality from the principle of Information Causality

Recently, the principle of nonviolation of information causality [Nature 461,1101 (2009)], has been proposed as one of the foundational properties of nature. We explore the Hardy's nonlocality theorem for two qubit systems, in the context of generalised probability theory, restricted by the principle of nonviolation of information causality. Applying, a sufficient condition for information causality violation, we derive an upper bound on the maximum success probability of Hardy's nonlocality argument. We find that the bound achieved here is higher than that allowed by quantum mechanics, but still much less than what the nosignaling condition permits. We also study the Cabello type nonlocality argument (a generalization of Hardy's argument) in this context.

Comment on "Local Copying of $d\times d$-dimensional Partially Entangled Pure States"

Recently, Li. \emph{et. al.} [Int. J. Theor. Phys., 48, 2777 (2009)] derived a necessary and sufficient condition for LOCC cloning of a set of bipartite orthogonal partially but equally entangled state. We demonstrates that, the result is based on a wrong observation regarding a set of non-maximally entangled states with equal entanglement. We also provide a simple example in favor of our comment.

Complete proof of Gisin's theorem for three qubits

Gisin's theorem assures that for any pure bipartite entangled state, there is violation of Bell-CHSH inequality revealing its contradiction with local realistic model. Whether, similar result holds for three-qubit pure entangled states, remained unresolved. We show analytically that all three-qubit pure entangled states violate a Bell-type inequality, derived on the basis of local realism, by exploiting the Hardy's non-locality argument.

Causality, Joint measurement and Tsirelson's bound

Tsirelson showed that $2\sqrt{2}$ is the maximum value that CHSH expression can take for quantum-correlations [B. S.Tsirelson, Lett. Math. Phys, 4 (1980) 93]. This bound simply follows from the algebra of observables. Recently by exploiting the physical structure of quantum mechanics like unitarity and linearity, Buhrman and Massar [H. Buhrman and S.Massar, Phys. Rev. A, 72 (2005) 052103] have established that violation of Tsirelson's bound in quantum mechanics will imply signalling. We prove the same with the help of realistic joint measurement in quantum mechanics and a Bell's inequality which has been derived under the assumption of existence of joint measurement and no signalling condition.

Local cloning of genuine entangled states of three qubit

We discuss (im)possibility of the exact cloning of orthogonal but genuinely entangled three qubit states aided with entangled ancila under local operation and classical communication. Whereas any two orthogonal GHZ states taken from the canonical GHZ basis, can be cloned with the help of a known GHZ state, surprisingly we find that no two W states can be cloned by using any known three qubit (possibly entangled) state as blank copy.

Local Cloning of Entangled Qubits

We discuss the exact cloning of orthogonal but entangled qubits under local operations and classical communication. The amount of entanglement necessary in blank copy is obtained for various cases. Surprisingly this amount is more than 1 ebit for certain set of two nonmaximal but equally entangled states of two qubits system. To clone any three two qubits Bell states at least log2 3 ebit is necessary.
